Balance Patch Notes

These changes are intended to address Archer's overtuned long-range game and make him less spammy.


NEUTRAL SPECIAL:

- Projectile hitbox reverted to original size
- Damage reduced from 10 to 5
- Base knockback reduced from 15 to 10
- Now enters freefall if performed in the air

BACK AIR:

- Damage reduced from 10 to 5
- Base knockback reduced from 15 to 10
- Now enters freefall immediately if performed in the air instead of allowing a second Back Air/other air options

DOWN SPECIAL:

- Projectile base knockback reduced from 6 to 2
- Projectile knockback scaling reduced from 0.13 to 0.08

Balance patch

Ultra:

- Significantly increased the duration of Unlimited Blade Works. Archer's Ultra was too easy to dodge, even if perfectly timed at close range. Instead of adding a frame one stun to guarantee hits on close-range opponents, Unlimited Blade Works has been slightly repurposed as an area-denial Ultra. Unlimited Blade Works will remain on the stage for 300 frames before disappearing, allowing Archer to continue fighting while his sword rain is active.

Neutral Special:

- Slightly increased the vertical hitbox of Archer's horizontal arrow, since a large number of characters were able to low-profile it simply by idling or walking forwards. His angled arrows remain untouched.

Community balance patch 2

Swapped inputs for Forward Air and Neutral Air. Forward Air will now perform the "Aerial Combo" move, while Neutral Air will perform "Blade Works Alternative".

Grab:

- Reverted range to original length

Throws:

- Decreased up and down throw scaling by 0.01, and forward and back throw scaling by 0.02

Community feedback patch!

Swapped inputs for Forward Air and Down Air. Forward Air now performs the "Blade Works Aerial" move, while Down Air will peform "Dive Rush".


Side Strong/Down Strong/Forward Air:

- Slightly increased base knockback on the initial "weak" swords


Neutral Air:

- Slightly increased range and decreased knockback on the first two hits

- Knockback on first two hits is now more vertical

- Fixed an incorrect hitbox on the third hit causing it to whiff when it shouldn't


Up Tilt:

- Slightly increased horizontal range


Neutral Special:

- No longer cancels on landing if started in the air

- "Projecting swords" recovery animation changed to its fast variant


Up Special:

- Third and final hit now has increased knockback scaling and slightly higher base knockback


Down Special:

- Slightly increased base knockback

- "Projecting swords" recovery animation changed to its fast variant


Grab:

- Slightly decreased startup time

- Slightly increased range


Throws:

- Buffed base power and damage

- Slightly increased scaling
