Hotfix for too many bugs with databases (innovation was too high, I think)

Update: 5 Apr, 2016 @ 7:57am

The major change in this release is a complete reorganisation of CompanyTypes, leading to proper ecosystem market simulation. Companies can grow into different ecosystems (through purchasing other companies or just because they were multi-type to start with) but there should now be no companies with purely unprofitable SoftwareTypes available to them (as was the case pre 0.8 and is also the case in vanilla, where Game Engine companies spawn and then pretty pointlessly fail for no reason other than being utterly pointless).

Now, gaming companies sometimes make their own engines and they sometimes do not. Likewise, OS companies make databases and also office software; small business software companies make ledgers, accountancy tools, and office software suites; home app makers make antivirus software as well as file archivers and file management software, etc etc etc.

There's some interesting behaviour that's emerged, too; I've found in 5/8 playtests one big major company emerges and dominates the market. I find this to be realistic (to an extent; IRL, there are six or seven very large companies in these areas who could be said to be "dominant" of their markets... but on the other hand between 1986 and 2000, Microsoft were indisputably dominant in multiple software arenas, just as IBM were before them) and so am not attempting to fix it at this time, as the hope is that this one "megacompany" can be a good rival to human players.

I've still got a lot of playtesting to do and there're still bugs to squash, but I'd definitely say this is extremely playable now. :D

Fixed Enterprise showing as an available softwaretype in 1970 incorrectly.
Small amount of balancing work.

Update: 4 Apr, 2016 @ 6:42am

0.9 milestone - A LOT of rebalancing, especially to company spawning and a nerf to Media Player which was seriously unbalanced with everything else. There should no longer be random breakout Media Player successes for no special reason. Media Player may come down in build time even more since I still think it's too profitable/expensive and I'm not keen on reducing usability further as I think the numbers make sense. Maybe a heavier random element to stabilise the price lower. We'll see.

Also some reorganisation and cleanup and general little fixes here or there.

1.0 will be after I do a long playtest and fix any issues that crop up, so probably a few days, although I will probably add bugfixes with no changenotes in the meantime. I'll add a set of changenotes for 1.0 when it comes instead so I can focus on playing/fixing/balancing.
