A11 update is being considered for this - I'm currently replaying! Loving A11. <3

If it is done, it will probably preserve the "software ecosystem" while being ported to the new model for dev.

But it'll become "Digital Ecosystem": I'll be adding hardware...

Maybe not just computer hardware.

I'm enjoying this mod, but what is the deal with artist specializations? System I can see, dealing with UI stuff, but Database and Algorithm seem unneccessary.

Hi,
the same kind of duplication happened with the 'Database' skill. It's referenced as database's' in the XMLs. Also, there are more references to 'Networking', than ttr caught.

@Yawncat: If you wish, I can send you the corrected files (including the corrected CompanyTypes), if you wish (even though it's only a few minutes of work, maybe you don't have time for bugfixing and I did it already, so...)

@Dna: The 'IdealPrice' value for the playback tool is set to 0.00 in the XML, so i figure it's on purpose and maybe only meant for in-house use? (Given the tiny amount of programming needed for this, it does make sense not to generate money)

In 11 Internet Client Application.xml, line 3 and Base.xml line 15 You have category = Networking instead of Network -> this is creating second set of code/design Network skill.

Just played, and although it would allow me to educate employees for networking, they were taking far longer than they shouldve to complete networking (only made it to design faze and quit, because they would've legitimately taken 2 years to complete desiging the networking component). Tried doing Audio Tool and Home File Archiver.

Audio playback tool does not work correctly. It does not assign default price other than 0. Also, for some reason it does not allow to change its price after release.

Right now I'm doing finishing touches on a big rebalance of just about everything. Essentially this rebalance will make the earlier years a little less arduous in terms of code time for a few things - first and foremost, this pass is focusing directly on TTC specific features.

This is NOT the 1.6 update, this is going to be 1.5.2 - 1.6 will be later this month still.

However, as a cheeky little bonus, I am completely reworking how Games work. This means the addition of a whole bunch of types of games instead of just the base genres. The first genre to be reworked overall is the "action" genre, which was primarily addressed with just the "action adventure" category. This is now diversified into 5 categories, all of which are "simpler" style games more suited to 1980s and 1990s development.

As a result their popularity will never match that of some of the other genres. Well, unless I messed up. ;)

Confirmed now for 1.6 is the diversification of the sports genre. It will diversify into fighting (specifically realistic fighting, as opposed to fantasy fighting like in Street Fighter etc) games, team games, and also at least two types of racing category.

Flight sims will also be in, along with features.

All in all between 1.5.2 and 1.6 I expect the addition of about 20-30 categories of software and around 40 new features, + most pre-existing categories and features of software rebalanced.

Currently confirmed new stuff in the 1.6 update -

1. Rebalancing. This work has been going on for AGES with recent updates. I've been playtesting quite a bit, and what I've generally found is that everything is waaaay too slow with my mod nowadays. Not sure what changed exactly but oh well! Down go the numbers on DevTime across the board. I'm just beginning playtesting on this particular change right now.
2. I'm unsure on what will happen regarding a key feature of this mod - the ability to start in 1970. Currently it is not possible to reimplement but I'm hoping for some info from God on it. :P

3. New features. I'm going to add around 10-30 new features overall. Many of these will be in the Games and Game Engine software types. I may however break some features up, IE things like "AGAPI Integration" may well become several features each with shorter dev time. This will enable greater user choice in the late game, I hope.
4. Various random stuff I don't want to tell you about yet. :P

Release is expected within the month. Consider it 50/50 that I'll release before my birthday on the 21st of May. ;)

Well I do not see the writing skill in the deatils menu of a character skills.. Tried what Euer wrote. Switch mode on , choose scenerio, switch mod off, switch mode on and still nothing :(
But on the other hand UI skill is filling for me...

In Charackter Creation Screen, if i Switch the Mod to on , then choose a scenario provided by your mod, and then deactivate the mod and reactivate it, then it works as supposed all bars are showing up and filling. And wirting Skill is also recognized in Game as its supposed to be.

Anyways i had Bluescreen after 40h and it totally ripped the Savegame, but i absolutely cant say if the crash had smthng to do with your mod...

Not sure why UI skill isn't filling for you (it has done for me in every save I've played so far) but I am seeing that the Writing skill doesn't show up.

Not sure why yet.

redownloaded the mod a few times, but didnt fix the issue, is it normal that the writing skill doesnt show up as a bar at all in charackter skills and the UI skill doesnt fill when u educate a person?

This is due to Pixel manipulation unlocking later than intended.

I am now fixing this for the next version. Currently 1986 is the unlock date. It will be 1980 in next release.

I am in 1980, first year of game. I look at the list of released software and there are many 2D editors that have been released.

When I tried to do Enterprise software I can choose the OS and Database but there are no choices for 2D Editor.

This mod adds 2 new dependecies that can be slightly confusing. Many software products now require you to pick DATABASE and OFFICE software as a dependency.

If you want to develop a 2D Editor, you need to choose an Office software package and a Database.

Databases don't have dependencies, so you can easily develop that yourself.

So, normally (without this mod), you would probably develop a 2D Editor very early as other software is often dependent on a 2D Editor.

HOWEVER, Office software CAN have a dependency on a 2D Editor and a database.

So, the only way forward (to not use a competing product) is to develop Office software that isn't dependent on a 2D Editor - ie don't include Clipart or WYSIWYG intially as either one will force you to include dependency on a 2D Editor.

Once you have created your Office Software it paves they way for you to create your 2D Editor - thus paving the way for your intended Office software.

It's still alive but tbh I'm struggling for additional content that doesn't just bloat it, and there turned out to be no major changes necessary after recent patches. It still works fine for now.

I AM working on mobile phone ecosystem as promised but there are some things that are in future dev for the game which I would prefer to have in place before moving my experimental version to release.
