It toke me a while to go throught. Hard to place gel at the proper place. Knoing strafe jump that was fun (daloboy map). Finding proper angle for the laser, lot of try there to. Shouting cube on wall not very evident to do (many try). Looking for portable panel on last part, saw it accidently when waking over the button. Thanks you make me thinking as much as in daloboy map.

Trial & error at its worst.
nuryk2002 1 Feb, 2017 @ 11:44am
Made it all the way, nice collection of tricks. But the crossing to the 2nd chamber I got it by bouncing back and forth between blue gell covered walls until I got over the wall in front. Not sure if this was the intended solution because I didn't need the speed gel at all
ken.roberts 21 Sep, 2013 @ 4:27am
Sorry but I only made one map - a long time ago and it was with Hammer and was not good at all. So I decided to just be a Player - LOL
Aardvark00  [author] 7 Aug, 2013 @ 3:48am
@ken : I'm impressed with your determination here. I admit to hoping that flip panel might be overlooked for a while sometimes. I appreciate your efforts with the appraisal here too. It makes the game writing worth while :) This was my first chamber and there are 3 others. I hope you'll try them too. Do you have a workshop, I'd be happy to try yours if so?
ken.roberts 6 Aug, 2013 @ 4:28am
First room was a beee-aaaatch but I finally figured out how to make the long jump. Placing the gels was indeed a challenge.

2nd room - luckily I had learned the strafe jump and was able to get to the cube on top grating.

3rd room - this is where I really got stuck - in the final little Exit room and the need to get the cube in there.. I saw the symbols on the Floor - but they ONLY appeared on the floor !! AArrgghh - why ?? A Red Herring ?? Apparently so because they were not shown anywhere else as they are supposed to be. As I worked and worked on the ending . . . I had stepped on the Exit Door actuator button many times. I heard the Door opening but It never occurred to me that another sound was there (a flipping panel). It also never occurred to me to friggin' LOOK UP !!!! Finally after 2 wasted days - I looked up and saw that the panel had flipped. Great map !! Kudos !!

@Big Moustache. Thankyou for testing and very well done! Most people seem to have found my maps hard difficulty, so you are not alone :) I will be publishing a new one soon.
Big Moustache 25 Apr, 2013 @ 5:31am
I sincerely difficult to accept that this is your first map. 3 days to find the solution. How will the next? Very good job. Not medium difficulty, for me it's hard difficulty

Aardvark64
my bad.
thankyou :)
as for mine being hard ?
the lates map is a demonstration / how to torture turrets / fun / revenge.
not a puzzle.
please watch the 2 video's, (not spoilers)
which will help you get the most out of this map, before playing.
1 did not seem to play. but the links are in the description.
have fun
Aardvark00  [author] 15 Mar, 2013 @ 1:34am
mood3rd. I will certainly try your turret map below. It is strange because I find your maps difficult as you do mine it seems :)
About the exit area, if I've understood what you say I should just mention that you can go outside the little room onto the lift (piston) and use the transport beam to place the cube on white tiles opposite. The fizzler doesn't matter as you can make new portals through the grating from inside. Does that make sense?
mood3rd 14 Mar, 2013 @ 11:33am

type: demonstration /revenge/ fun (hopefully ?)
I strongly recommend playing non-spoiler videos 1st.
to get the most from this map.
mood3rd 14 Mar, 2013 @ 11:32am
the exit area, if you did not pre-place the cube in an accesible area.
you would have to re-do the previous section.
which would be anoying. (luckily for me, I did.)
I suggest allowing the player to portal the portable area the funel goes into
& the portable area where the cube re-spawns to.
but made it in the end :)
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=132259285
thankyou for your help in the 1st chamber :)
thumbs up.
but please fix what I mentioned above.
but your map your choice.
mood3rd 14 Mar, 2013 @ 11:32am
tricky, but good.
would be good to have a better way to place the bouncy gel,
in the 1st chamber.
I lost track of how many times I covered it with speed gel.
but good method.
in 2nd chamber, was this the correct sollution ?
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=132259153
3rd chamber:
although same machanic as 1st chamber, still good.
but when on last piston, view is obscured.
I suggest fixing this, as it deminishes your map.

Aardvark00  [author] 14 Mar, 2013 @ 1:45am
mood3rd. Ok, here goes start by extending the transporter beam under the blue gel up under the floor grating. Inject blue gel into it and as soon as the gel reaches floor level, move the source portal to one of the tiles in the top corner of the room. The gel will fall back down and fling out of the wall onto the floor ahead of the goo. Repeat carefully with speed gel so you leave a bit of blue next to the goo. Hope that explains and thanks for having the patience :)
mood3rd 13 Mar, 2013 @ 1:50pm
Aardvark64
sounds good.
but with the portable areas where they are in the 1st chamber.
I could not spread the gel as described.
it kept hitting the tiles, that drop from the cieling
& would not go anywhere near the goo,
when I tried on my 1st attempt.
I got to the area I am stuck on,
by going up the funel, from portable area under grating
& dropping onto bouncy gel.
then bouncing in to where the turrets are.
1 behind glass & 1 near pedestal button.
Aardvark00  [author] 12 Mar, 2013 @ 2:20am
Try this way place that cube and leave a portal in the ceiling above you, then go back to the main room and place the other portal to pick up a transporter beam. Change the colour to orange and quickly run across and jump the goo so you land in the extended beam. This carries you up so you can move it's portal to the tile along the tunnel and be taken along it. Jump off as soon as you see an exit or the beam will reverse and carry you back.
That should help I hope. Good luck with the rest :)

I am stuck here:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=131896553
I can't see the portable area for more than a 10th of a second.
so can't place my portal properly.
Aardvark00  [author] 19 Feb, 2013 @ 1:08am
Well, thanks daloboy! Personally I think now that this one is a bit too linear which is why I tried to design Quirkafleeg so the end connects back to the start. I've had to update it since you played it and as a result of problems with publishing all the comments were lost. I haven't managed to publish the final update successfully yet. Hopefully today but again it may have to lose the comments so far.
daloboy 18 Feb, 2013 @ 6:19pm
Wow! I was returning and returning again...to the first room, and even though I had faith in your work...my despair was only growing and growing! Until yesterday! I finaly made it through the fist room! And with that ego boost, was able to reach the final room...but...there...after a long time, I put the mouse down and decided to wait for today. Finish it and happy!!! Really liked the room with the laser cube on top! One of your bestmap ever!
Diamond Knight 30 Jan, 2013 @ 2:39am
Watching the video gave me what I needed... how to get up there. With that taken away...
Aardvark00  [author] 30 Jan, 2013 @ 1:36am
@Diamond Knight. Yes I responded to some comments with a small update the day after the video was posted. Hope you can finish it now :)
Diamond Knight 29 Jan, 2013 @ 3:35pm
Hey... you changed the floor since he made that video.
Diamond Knight 29 Jan, 2013 @ 2:59pm
I just watched it up until he flung himself over the water. I would have NEVER thought of doing that.
Diamond Knight 29 Jan, 2013 @ 2:41pm
Thanks... I'll check it out.
Aardvark00  [author] 29 Jan, 2013 @ 6:45am
Well if you want look at the comment by toncica on Dec 11th. If you click on his blind run link you can see a YouTube video of how he did it on his first attempt. He gets a few things wrong at first but you'll see eventually how the gel part is done. He posted a correct run later on drop box but I couldn't download that.
Diamond Knight 29 Jan, 2013 @ 5:50am
I appreciate you trying to help, but I think in this case it's a waste of your time. I used that portal to see what would happen. I ended up killing one of those two turrets, but I don't see anywhere to put a portal that will allow the gel to go where it is needed. All I see are black walls. No worries. I'm just not too bright. Not your problem.
Aardvark00  [author] 29 Jan, 2013 @ 5:27am
Look at the floor grating to the right of the water. You can put a portal down there and push gel upwards with a tractor beam, then move the source portal so the gel falls down and squirts out of the source portal
Diamond Knight 29 Jan, 2013 @ 4:34am
Wow, I am really dense. I do not see a way to get either gel close to the water.
Aardvark00  [author] 29 Jan, 2013 @ 1:24am
You need to get across the water on the left by flinging speed gel with a bit of bounce gel at the edge of the water . From there you can reach the other turrets. Hope that helps :)
Diamond Knight 28 Jan, 2013 @ 1:13pm
The first 2 I got without a problem. It's the next 2, up there, partially blocked by glass. No idea how to get up there.
Aardvark00  [author] 28 Jan, 2013 @ 7:33am
The ones near the entrance?
Diamond Knight 27 Jan, 2013 @ 6:53pm
Sorry, but I guess I'm a dummy cuz I can't even get up to the turrets.
Rei 28 Dec, 2012 @ 10:00am
Hi, my earliest chamber isn't the easiest or shortest one, but you are of course welcome to
Free CC . (<click)
enjoy!
Aardvark00  [author] 28 Dec, 2012 @ 4:22am
Thanks for that. I will be happy try your chambers, there are a lot I see but I would like to start with the earliest. To save time could you point me to the right one (I don't like my queue to get too long as they all have to download each time I start Portal).
Rei 27 Dec, 2012 @ 2:21pm
Coool! ^-^
I liked all three tests :)
Hope, to see you around my Collection (<click) someday.
stormsend 22 Dec, 2012 @ 6:35pm
Harrrrrrd. Thank you.
Aardvark00  [author] 19 Dec, 2012 @ 1:30am
Thanks, that's very encouraging. I'll look again at the first room. That hasn't happened to me yet during testing but I can see how it might.
redunzl_gw 18 Dec, 2012 @ 11:16pm
Excellent map. Unlike my brother (KennKong), I had no trouble making the jump in the first room, once I got the gels in the right places . One possible bug in the first room: Funneling blue gel up to the ceiling made it splash past the glass, killing one of the turrets. Very clever puzzles, and I loved the flings in the second room!!
Aardvark00  [author] 13 Dec, 2012 @ 8:52am
@toncica Many thanks for another run BUT I have problems with dem files including those I record myself. Some inexplicably refuse to open, yours is one such.
I have one I've just done which runs ok on my PC but actually crashes portal on my friend's PC rather than just not opening! BTW, Lost in Testing, I have 2 ticks on the exit door but can't yet access the upper floor. Tough stuff :)
toncica 12 Dec, 2012 @ 11:22am
I've recorded this demo file after your update. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16159596/testing123.dem
toncica 12 Dec, 2012 @ 6:57am
I was wondering myself when I watched that part, why was I running around like a mad man instead of using the funnel all the time? Must have been the adrenalin. :)
Aardvark00  [author] 12 Dec, 2012 @ 6:36am
@toncica Thanks indeed for the video, it was very strange to see things happening that I hadn't foreseen. I've updated to improve signage a bit and stop a couple of exploits! In the final room you're supposed to stay on the lifts and control the cube only with the tractor beam I already have Lost in Testing in my queue :)
@KennKong Thanks for your kind words and persistence. I'm very GLaD you enjoyed it on the whole.
KennKong 11 Dec, 2012 @ 2:14pm
I liked most of the ideas in this, and I loved the cube shooting part. But it was a little beyond my skill level. I couldn't make the run to the funnel to carry you into the upper hallway . After 25 failures, I noclipped past that.
It was a little dark in places. And antlines to the final flip panel would have saved me some aggravation.
I'm adding this to my Favorite Hard maps collection.
toncica 11 Dec, 2012 @ 9:06am
I know the feeling, you always think it's too easy when you're the author and then might take it too far. I started the same way and later tried to tone it down. Here is my blind run .
My special recommendation to you is Lost In Testing . I think that would make us even. ;)

And please keep mapping. Those were some fresh ideas and in hindsight I really enjoyed it. I would like to see in which direction your maps go from there.
Aardvark00  [author] 11 Dec, 2012 @ 2:42am
Hi Toncica. I'd be really pleased to see how you played it. I didn't want to publish something that would be dismissed as too simple (it is my first) but perhaps this was too obscure in places? Still learning!
Look forward to the blind run of this and will be trying your other chambers shortly :)
toncica 10 Dec, 2012 @ 10:41am
You left me this comment on my (easy) map:"Not as easy as all that, it took me a while to work out. Enjoyable, good stuff!"
Well, your chamber was not as medium as one would think. It took me one hour to make it through. In fact I'd rate it as pretty hard. Still enjoyable. After the first perplexing room I was determined to complete it, no matter what. If you have sadistic tendencies I'll upload my blind run (~60 minutes) for you to enjoy.
tharding 15 Nov, 2012 @ 6:56pm
I added a walkthrough for killing the turrets in my workshop. You can uncover the secret one clue at a time or just read through it. Maybe it will give you an idea for your future puzzles.
tharding 5 Nov, 2012 @ 8:20pm
I run through Mathey2009's Cubelessness. It took me about an hour. Yours was harder to do (brute force) but his puzzles were more involved.
tharding 5 Nov, 2012 @ 6:39pm
Here is mine. Try this short version and then the long version.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=77382216
I haven't tried it. I'll look for it and give it a try.
Aardvark00  [author] 5 Nov, 2012 @ 1:23am
Glad you made it and thanks for sticking with it, I hope it was worth it :) Have you tried Cubelessness by Mathey2009? I can get past the first bit but then that's it. Still trying though. Have you published anything?
