From playing AoE2, my advise to keeping units alive is to just hide them out somewhere.
I also have to agree with a person beforehand that the campaign is parodying too hard on fall of the trident. Dialog was `presentable` but nothing really i enjoyed reading, just there to fill the void.
Just remember what Arkantos said: "Keep your eyes open" ;)
I have philosopher1992 on the horn trying to fix it and he's doing a damn fine job with the Norse texture pack, hoping he can figure out how to fix the rest as well.
But you have try it and see if it works for you.

It's either been disabled via triggers, or it's something else (KOTH variant?)
Can't help with the btg mission, I'd suggest disabling all other non-scenario mods, especially nottud's editor.
but then again the campaign is designed for the Titans not ee, so that doesn't help :P
