welp night vision doesnt make sense, the darkness has different mechanics,
installed realistic lighting thats what i needed: areas became darker. and nightvision illuminates stuff,
this mod is about LITERAL darkness

I focused on underground areas and some castles that just seemed too well lit. Can't be sure, it's been so long... I sort of abandon it several years ago after several life events.

I cannot imagine playing Skyrim without this mod...
Target Practice 20 Jun, 2013 @ 11:14am
So far all this seems to do is add a short range interior fog to dungeons.
Genebris 7 Apr, 2013 @ 11:59pm
Can't you tell us how tecnicaly does this work? Too hard? Or you think this is too secret information and we mortals can't know this?
I won't subscribe until I know what it does.

Darker Skyrim and Lightless abandoned dungeaons work together or one is better than the other ?
Marbaus  [author] 17 Oct, 2012 @ 7:04am
looking into the night eye issue now. I'll try to fix it before I loose the internet again.
Korveen 17 Oct, 2012 @ 6:24am
Where is the download link ? Sorry but I'm new in steam
WidowMaker 7 Apr, 2012 @ 1:36pm
do you plan to continue working on your abandon dungeons mod? like fixing night eye
Sithis 6 Mar, 2012 @ 2:50pm
I found another locations that looks dusty and foggy. Lost Knife Hideout - it's the 2nd area after you enter the cave. Game gets choppy a bit there :) .
Marbaus  [author] 5 Mar, 2012 @ 11:35pm
povasmcfail, hmm ok Ill see what i can do about making a lighter version and allowing night eye to work properly in those areas. Which area is night eye not working on? I just need on area, not all of them.
Ill check out Haemar's Shame, thanks.
Tanig 4 Mar, 2012 @ 11:05am
Awesome mod, but could you make a "lighter" version? Since in some areas the ligh dissapears completely, and in those areas, the night eye spell have no effect :)
Andeerz 1 Mar, 2012 @ 4:46pm
Is this compatible with the Realistic Lighting mod? Also, this is most excellent. I do notice in Haemar's Shame, though, that the darkness seems to fade in and out in some places. Like, I can see bluish fog before I enter a room, and then as I go just far enough, it becomes dark. o_O
Marbaus  [author] 27 Feb, 2012 @ 7:52pm
Thanks Sithis, should be good now. I also checked up on a few others.
Sithis 27 Feb, 2012 @ 12:07pm
Hey Marbaus. Dunno if anyone reported this. I entered Swindler's Den just a moment ago. It wasn't dark but dusty and foggy.
Ardashir 25 Feb, 2012 @ 6:58am
Nice work, thank you. Adds a strategic dimension to dungeons, not just aesthetics. I now have to work out how to draw my enemies into spots where I can fight without a torch!
IcyDeadPeople 24 Feb, 2012 @ 11:26pm
I have noticed a strange glare on my characters face below the eyes from certain angles. It seems to be a reflection of the nearest light source. Could this be from the Darker Skyrim mod? This is the only mod I have installed with global lighting changes:

Eidgenosse 22 Feb, 2012 @ 12:43am
A bit more light and this will be perfect
Marbaus  [author] 20 Feb, 2012 @ 10:15pm
Thanks. Im currently testing out my Darker Nights mod before I publish it. Outdoor stuff is much different interrior templates. It should be out soon.
Sel 19 Feb, 2012 @ 3:28am
Dungeon-crawling is now way more hardcore (and interesting)!
Sithis 18 Feb, 2012 @ 2:15pm
This mod is just amazing! Combine it with Darker Dungeons, Tougher Traps and Sounds of Skyrim and it will blow You away!
Bob Salot 18 Feb, 2012 @ 6:22am
Great mod, combined with Tougher Traps I've died several times with a smile on my face.
Slab Bulkhead 17 Feb, 2012 @ 1:27am
I tried out this mod in Saarthal and got the light popping effect a few times. Do you know what's causing it?
simore_butts 16 Feb, 2012 @ 11:49pm
any chance of getting night eye to work properly with this? great job otherwise
Meleroch 16 Feb, 2012 @ 4:53am
rly cool mod, making a new look on old dungeons.
Glebus 15 Feb, 2012 @ 12:14pm
thanx a lot. such an atmospheric mod!
Marbaus  [author] 15 Feb, 2012 @ 12:10pm
Just fixed distant light popping. Ill keep checking on individual dungeons to make any needed adjustments. Thanks for the feedback!
IcyDeadPeople 14 Feb, 2012 @ 10:40pm
Great job on this one Marbaus! Thanks very much for saving me the trouble to adjust the lighting in 150 dungeons.
Marbaus  [author] 14 Feb, 2012 @ 8:08pm
Thanks judah. so they seem to be 'poping' on and off at a particular distance? Ill check in on that one and see whats up. BTW check out the Rings of Light Enchantment mod. It should give some advantage to those sword and boards and or two-handed warriors.
judah.235 14 Feb, 2012 @ 3:08pm
i got it working but had wierd results where light sources were gone but came back when you walked up to a lantern for example and another in movarths lair was vanilla at first but then the next section had a strong fog that wasnt dark just grey and also had the thing where light sources would activate when you walked up to them. but ive only tried two dungeons so far movarths lair(vampire cave near morthal i think) and a mine east of morthal, forgot the name.
Marbaus  [author] 14 Feb, 2012 @ 11:28am
Good idea Quency. That would keep their dramatic lighting and give good use out of our light spells and torches. Judah, thre might need to be a load order. I have noticed on testing that if I have several mods loaded, if the last one downloaded changes a dungeon the light template reverts back to vanilla.
Marbaus  [author] 13 Feb, 2012 @ 6:57pm
Just finished the Lightless Abandon Dungeons. I hear you guys, Ill check those ideas out and see whats up. Thanks for the feedback! Enjoy! I will be working on the actual lighting, like craftable torches, lanterns and such next as well as going through the current feedback.
Keyhenge 13 Feb, 2012 @ 1:44pm
Instead of having a dark fog, what about having a smaller radius that light spreads from candles, lanterns, etc.?
Emilinator 13 Feb, 2012 @ 7:58am
lightsources need to spread better, it's too dark
judah.235 13 Feb, 2012 @ 7:41am
i don't think it worked for me they looked as light as vanilla
Abysswalker 13 Feb, 2012 @ 12:37am
I downloaded this without even realizing I asked for pics on it yesterday. D: Well done, sir. Rated and subbed.
Marbaus  [author] 12 Feb, 2012 @ 2:31pm
I agree, andI highly suggest the 'sounds of skyrim' with this.
Architect 12 Feb, 2012 @ 5:01am
great mod ! been looking for something likes this forever ! :) take this mod and add the "sounds of skyrim" mod, and you will have to have some nerve pills when going into dungeons and such :p hehe..
Firestorm 12 Feb, 2012 @ 4:26am
what about outside dureing the night?
Raider37343 12 Feb, 2012 @ 12:53am
looks liek the darkness in dark descent
MrCadaver 11 Feb, 2012 @ 10:22pm
Just brilliant! Well done. Can't wait for the one without any light sources in ABANDONED mines, caves etc.
Anstar 11 Feb, 2012 @ 9:37pm
Though less light sources would be good, places that shouldn't have light shouldn't have it
Anstar 11 Feb, 2012 @ 9:35pm
I just meant a screenshot, so we could see how dark it was without any light :/
Marbaus  [author] 11 Feb, 2012 @ 8:52pm
You mean take out all the candles and lanterns in those caves/'abandon'mines/dwarven ruins? Yup. Ill make another mod for that ;) It will take just a little bit longer cause I want to make sure I don't take out the sources for living beings like bandits and such.
Anstar 11 Feb, 2012 @ 8:39pm
Can we get one without any light source?
Marbaus  [author] 11 Feb, 2012 @ 8:23pm
;D no problem.
Abysswalker 11 Feb, 2012 @ 7:36pm
Might download if we get a couple of pics.
