If you are in the sky arena and are trying to jump out using the...special surprise feature,
instead use the orange-ish way gate, then you will not be warped back automatically.
The special surprise feature is for viewing the entire map from above, and also enjoying the heights possible jump I could conceive of without stressing hardware more than necessary

Yay, thanks for the vote!!♥
@Tranquiliity,
Aww thanks for the vote of confidence hee hee!
@Will
To open the DDDK you have to use the executable that appears in this directory after you download the steam->tools version. If you try to run the steam tools version it says corrupted files. But ignore that.
Go to this directory:
steam/steamapps/common/dungeon defenders/binaries/dundeftool.exe
Create shortcut to this and then run the editor using the topmost button once you load this tool.

@SdBlindGuardian
You cant start most mod maps in ranked, only maps that go through these map contests and win can be played in ranked :) Use Open or single player
Actually I do encourage people to visit the unhabited islands that are just decoration, just for fun, if that is something they enjoy.
not everyone wants the sort of playstyle that you want Macc, and for me personally, just running around the mountain tops of the uninhabited islands is fun.
Because there is not a single gem or critter on the islands I make it pretty clear as the designer that there is nothing to do there that is required, the areas are optional fun exploration.
And for people really wanting to scan for crystals they can always use Overlord mode.
I intentionally made the uninhabited islands explorable because I never like being stopped by an invisible wall in levels that is just in front of really pretty scenery that I want to go jump on.
In my level, if you can see it, you can go play on it :)

Oh oh! Maybe the area players start out in could be a hub world that teleports them to one of 6 islands that has a crystal on it. That way players that want to go for the main level's objective could lessen their playtime by not needing to walk around, but players that choose to walk around can find little quests or spots with unique gameplay and rewards on the way.
There could be 6 crystals hidden across the map and each crystal has its own battleground where players must defend against a short wave of minions. Perhaps you could even trap players in this battleground with a larger force field until they either complete the wave or die trying to defend. That way there is not only a clear goal of what players must do in this level because it is reminiscient of the main game mode, but it would also help create suspense because there is a chance for failure.

This is a fun game for you all:
What is the fastest completion time you've had on my map?
The time is listed after you finish and leave, in the tavern custom maps page, same place it lists the current difficulty setting for the map.
My best time is about 38 minutes, solo.
Keep in mind:
1. use the way gates
2. keep the Challenge setting to 1x / normal amount of enemies
3. the Sky Arena and the platforming are not necessary to complete the map, but I highly recommend you check it out sometime as it is my greatest achievement in the DDDK, very technically complicated to do!
4. list how many players helped you get the time.
5. when you get final crystal and go to game menu you will see the option is "return to tavern", you can stay in level as long as you want to roam and play.
*** Post your best times above! ***
Rama
Yes the Summoner class sure would make the platforming easier :)
I specifically coded Overlord support into this map after someone asked for it
I wrote a tutorial of how I did it in the description above, toward the bottom, as apparently some people were having trouble getting Overlord Support working on their maps.

Very generous of you given that you also have a map in this contest!

Usually the person for whom the matinee runs perfectly is the host.
I did this with a friend, and the matinee did get out of sorts, but I could still complete the jump anyways.
But I've had lots of practice :)
Try practicing a lot in single player, the secrete is to jump while the platform opposite the one you want to land on is in front of you and the other one is spinning toward you.
I made this a technically challenging jump intentionally, as I like this sort of gameplay.
If you don't, well please enjoy other aspects of the level, there's something for everyone!

PS: Thank you again Macc for your kindness in telling me about the music copyright issue. I like the DD song I am using instead sooooo much better actually!
Oh yeah no prob. I'm glad you ended up finding a song you liked.

Critters with Custom Materials/Skins
An easier non-kismet way to make custom material critters (like semi transparent or on fire)
1. You could also simply copy an _actor archetype_ based off the unit whose material you want to change (see goblin archetype as an ex, in the content browser).
2. In the actor archetype, find the materials for each difficulty level
3. Change ALL the difficulty materials to your custom material
This is a looot easier than messing with the Kismet code.

I'm glad you like the eye candy / size / custom critters!
If you want to make your own custom-material critters it's easy!
1. use a material that has "use with skeletal mesh" set to true
2. apply this material using kismet after you spawn the critter / critter spawns using DD spawner.
There is a kismet action in the non-DD section to do this.
Note: You will need to find where the standard DD kismet code is spawning critters and modify their skeletal mesh material at that point in the cycle
Have fuun!

PS: the DD special map that has the golden units / mana gems uses a method like this I believe, the kismet action to change the mesh material of an actor.
some of the texture are stretched a bit
your shader may be corrupt, on some surfaces playes does not generate shadows but dark areas. that has happened to me and the solution is verify game cache on the dddk and then do a rebuild and a cook.
also, one some surfaces when you near a large wall you can see through the map
other than that its pure amazing eye candy, unbelievable the amount of innovation. i really like your custom mobs like the transmarent ones, cant wait to figure out how to do my own, and i also really like the size, and all the different surfaces and just overall the map. its sure to please :)
