Should be 40 towns of various starting sizes.
Oldhip 2 Oct, 2019 @ 6:56pm
So how many towns ?
Reh3dDoes  [author] 12 Feb, 2019 @ 11:22am
Huntington is a beautiful place. An exgf from there says it's having issues atm, but man do I love the river bank area! And boy does it have a rich history!
Cpt Rupert 11 Feb, 2019 @ 11:18pm
As someone from Huntington, I appreciate this.

@ipaxton, I'm glad you like it! I actually had Akron on the original map, but when I had to redo the map with better city coordinates, Akron got lost on my list because of proximity to Cleveland. In the later years of the game, Cleveland over grows Akron, also. I wish I had kept Akron, because the first historical map of Akron is more detailed than Canton. Findlay was a no-brainer to the city list because of it's historical significance.I added Delaware only because I am from there. :)
GingerBreadMan 17 Sep, 2018 @ 10:29pm
All I have to say is I LOVE THIS MAP! You did a awesome job. Just don't understand why you have Canton over Akron though but thats okay :) You got Findlay and that's all that matters to me so thank you again. Yes that's where I'm from born and raised.
GingerBreadMan 17 Sep, 2018 @ 9:23pm
Oh awesome you have Findlay, OH ok instant sub! THANK YOU!!!!!
Reh3dDoes  [author] 5 Jul, 2018 @ 7:30pm
@um3k, indeed. I cannot remember why I chose Canton over Akron. Akron's Barber Match Co would've been great for a lumber mill. And the early rubber industry was instrumental to it's growth. It really escapes me as to why I excluded Akron.
You can edit the map.lua file to add it.
um3k 2 Jul, 2018 @ 5:52am
How the heck does this map have Canton but not Akron?
Reh3dDoes  [author] 27 May, 2018 @ 8:33am
@athos135, I'm quite glad you figured it out. The couple modders I asked have not yet responded, as I'm sure they are quite busy. I've no idea why an older version would not work. I am currently using v7.4.2. However, I am quite glad you got it figured out. I hope it brings you weeks of enjoyment! :D

Dearest reh3dzone,
Thanks for the info.
Then I downloaded and installed the latest version of Notepad ++ and with that the problem is solved.
Mysteries of information technology.
I do not understand why ujna old Notepad ++ version does not make the change etc.

But as said, everything is ok.
Congratulations for your work and of course I look forward to some other your map .... :)

Greetings from the Principality of Liechtenstein

@athos135, I just checked my file and it still shows "True" after the last patch. Make sure of these things:
1. Steam client and the game are both closed while editing file.
2. you are using Notepad++ and not regular Notepad to edit the file with.
I do knot know if this will work, but once editing the file, you might want to try right-clicking the file for properties and changing it the read only. (Do so at your own discretion.)
I will respond again once I have suggestions from other modders.
Reh3dDoes  [author] 24 May, 2018 @ 10:27am
@athos135 after this most recent patch, I am not totally sure if something changed preventing or now auto-overwriting the file. I will have to ask some other modders. Give me a cpl days for a response.
BTW Thank you much for your interest in the map.
Athos631 24 May, 2018 @ 10:22am
Hi reh3dzone,
Thank's for your job.
I have a small problem and maybe someone knows how to solve it.

I modified the settings.lua file as described by you but every time you restart the game the data in the "experimentalMapSizes" line automatically changes from true to false.

So I can not load your reh3dzone map because it gives me error "Heightmap too big." Maximum number of Pixels 16M "

Some ideas about it.

Hello everybody.

1k hype! Awesome! Glad people are liking this map. TY all.
Reh3dDoes  [author] 2 Sep, 2017 @ 7:05am
@Grendal, Before starting aa new map, I always use the Vegetation Increase mod by FX2K.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=797560973&searchtext=vegetation

It makes all new maps so much more real and beautiful. It has to be loaded before you start the map. Give it a try...quite nice.
Asylum Escapee 1 Sep, 2017 @ 1:52am
Hey man, love the map, but I seem to have much less amout of trees than you do. Any idea why?
Reh3dDoes  [author] 24 Aug, 2017 @ 8:36am

trainexpert 9 Aug, 2017 @ 10:08am

Reh3dDoes  [author] 6 Aug, 2017 @ 12:10pm

@HoveringKiller, I'm from Delaware, OH and have been all over Ohio learning quite a bit about the transportation industry using the old canal systems. Certainly they were much smaller flatboats (which I wish were in the game), but this was the best I could do. I like to offer the freedom of imagination of what could have happened if the 1913 flood didn't destroy the waterways of Ohio. Perhaps, the canal system would've expanded allowing for larger ships. Who knows? :)
HoveringKiller 23 Jul, 2017 @ 2:06pm
Ah, thank you! And thank you for this map haha. I'm from the cincinnati area, and I think it'll be awesome playing on my (sort of) home turf ;)
Reh3dDoes  [author] 23 Jul, 2017 @ 1:35pm
@HoveringKiller, to run extra large maps you need to edit the settings.lua file. Here are the instructions where "userid" is whatever your user id is. It will be the only folder in the Steam folder. Be certain to use Notepad++ or something of the like. Standard Notepad and Word will mess up the file.

Loading instructions for large experimental maps:
1. go to \Steam\userdata\"userid"\446800\local\
2. edit settings.lua from "experimentalMapSizes = false" and change to true

This is roughly on line 34.
GLHF and thank you for your interest in this map.
HoveringKiller 23 Jul, 2017 @ 12:55pm
For some reason, I'm getting an error loading in the map, saying the height map is too large. Any idae what this is or how to fix it?
Reh3dDoes  [author] 19 Jul, 2017 @ 6:07pm
@ROCKHRDDOOKIE, Thank you mate. I hope you enjoy many hours on it.
ROCKHRDDOOKIE 19 Jul, 2017 @ 5:12pm
@reh3dzone..its really well done!!!!! i just played about 30 mins on the map starting in 1900...really good work!!!! alltho would be neat to see more mtn's...BUT im not bitching!!! its a really good map for learing the freight side of the game!!! WELL DONE!!!
Reh3dDoes  [author] 19 Jul, 2017 @ 4:39pm
@ROCKHRDDOOKIE, I've been through Wheeling a few times and was quite surprised to learn that the Wheeling Suspension Bridge was the first to span the Ohio and was a test bridge for the Brooklyn Bridge. The history of the Island is quite fascinating also. I wish that I had done a better job on my map so that more than one road could fit on it.
ROCKHRDDOOKIE 19 Jul, 2017 @ 4:02pm
IM FROM WHEELING, WV!!!!! IM D/L THIS BC I CAN, AND IM REPING MY SHITTY LITTLE CITY!!!!
Reh3dDoes  [author] 18 Jul, 2017 @ 10:47am
@javichouxfrance, Glad you like it, but yes, I like the mountainous areas also, especially around Colorado and Lake Tahoe. My map could've used some better rolling mountains around the East and SE area around West Virginia. My map making skills will hopefully improve. :)
javichouxfrance 18 Jul, 2017 @ 7:11am
I I like very much! It is enough tall(big) to play with train, truck, boat and plane. But lol I who was born in mountains, me has to say that that misses me a lot that he(it) nor ais not :steamhappy:
Reh3dDoes  [author] 18 Jul, 2017 @ 6:25am
We reached 300. Thanks, mates. I hope you like the map; if so, please give a thumbs up to help the rating.
Reh3dDoes  [author] 17 Jul, 2017 @ 4:19pm
[EDIT] I had wrong path, forgot the userdata folder.
@javichouxfrance, sure, mate.

Step 1. Find the settings.lua file. It should be located where you installed Steam.
For me the file path is:
C:\Games\Steam\userdata\180794503\446800\local

Step 2. Use Notepad++ to edit settings.lua
The line to edit is about line 34 (could be different for others)
Change the value for experimentalMapSizes from false to true.

Here is an image to help

javichouxfrance 17 Jul, 2017 @ 4:12pm
OK thank you very much
javichouxfrance 17 Jul, 2017 @ 8:20am
Can you better explain or put a photo to install(settle) how your card(map) (edit settings.lua from "experimentalMapSizes = false change to true) I does not understand(include)! Thank you
Fyren 16 Jul, 2017 @ 2:52pm
Do you have one without industry as well? :)
Reh3dDoes  [author] 16 Jul, 2017 @ 2:10pm
@DT, as do I. The most fun of this map was the week I spent researching all the cities on it about how they got their start and learning of all the major businesses there that helped them grow.
Bulldog 16 Jul, 2017 @ 12:45pm
Thank you for taking your time to make such a great map. Placing the proper industries in the cities makes the game so much better. I hate the in game random industry generator.
Reh3dDoes  [author] 16 Jul, 2017 @ 7:38am
@Nicky, I've uploaded some zoomed out pix. Hope that helps.
Nicky 16 Jul, 2017 @ 3:47am
Please pos tsome some zoomed out screenshits or videos. I can't get a feeeling of the geography from what you have shown .....
Reh3dDoes  [author] 15 Jul, 2017 @ 6:28pm
@OZWally, Thank you. If you have any suggestions during your gameplay on it, please feel free to share.
OzWally 15 Jul, 2017 @ 4:45pm
Nice!
