I found this puzzle very disappointing, because of many elements. As you can read in guides about making great maps, you shouldn't in any case let the player guess what's to be done. Aside from a roleplay indication in the description, we don't know precisely what we're supposed to do, and even worse, we are not notified when we just did something right. After reading through all the comments, I'm still not sure about how to get the sphere down, and in fact, I couldn't even get it past the topmost bridge.
But what's most disappointing is that I love highly logical puzzles and simulating calculators in games, and this map, in my opinion, fails with this goal.
Get rid of those four buttons. They're not logical enough. Get the player to directly cut the lasers with the cubes to draw the right digits. Be absolutely logical.

Just taking the companion cube is too simple, but understanding that you need it for the bridges is too hard... What about adding a laser cube instead, so that the player needs to place it at the correct place to repair the mechanism? Not sure if still too hard or not...
Rei  [author] 2 Mar, 2013 @ 2:17am
Well, there is a dropped bit, that has to be placed on the right spot anyway.
Just taking it from the laser to repair the digit is too simple in my opinion, no? :)
Geneosis 28 Feb, 2013 @ 2:15pm
Hmmm... Yeah... All depends on how hard you want it to be to understand the solution ^^
Rei  [author] 28 Feb, 2013 @ 1:17pm
LOL, right. You are just right about that. But ... wouldn't be the puzzle of that size too easy to solve, if there wasn't a "little hidden clue"? What do you think about that? Following our comments make the antline dispensable, anyway. No? ;))
Geneosis 28 Feb, 2013 @ 1:09pm
The "take me down" and the "use another one here" points are obvious :p What is not obvious is that you need the other one here before opening the exit door XD
Rei  [author] 28 Feb, 2013 @ 12:46pm
The cube up there cries for help:
"take me down, let me help you, use another one here instead!"
Can't you hear it now? =^-^=
Geneosis 28 Feb, 2013 @ 12:32pm
Well the self destructing cube have no other use than showing that you should place a cube here right? So if you remove this cube and the dropper you have some free entities to add a useless object ;)
Anyway you can still simply remove the limit :p
Rei  [author] 28 Feb, 2013 @ 12:22pm
Well, a useless object ... good idea but not really thought of that, even more as I am at the Item limit (again). And I'm now afraid of losing my map, like the "Exchange" lately. Once bitten, twice shy.
Geneosis 27 Feb, 2013 @ 3:51pm
Well, now you way it, the cube falling on the button switched off the light bridge in front of the exit... Now the link can seems evident, but when in the map, I didn't get it at all XD
Maybe, link the cube button to some hidden useless object so that the antlines will go close to the light bridges? Not sur if players will get the idea better anyway...
Rei  [author] 27 Feb, 2013 @ 2:50pm
Great you found out the exit-thingie. I did lot of thinking (since a test person didn't get this) how to explain that working without words and a minimum item count, as I was close to the limit. And I am very GLaD you like it so much!!! Thank you! It's also one of my favourites!
Geneosis 27 Feb, 2013 @ 7:35am
That was awesome! Took me a moment to understand that a cube was needed on the cube button close to the exit so that the bridges will be desactivated X)
Solved it by trials and errors anyway, only understood that the cubes buttons where here to make the counter and all the lasers for display :p

although laser puzzles, is not my thing.
it is a good concept.
if I could count to 3, I might love it.
so I have given it the thumbs up.
thankyou for your help :)
oh. solved it at last:

thankyou
& a Happy new year to you :}

Okay, I am sorry now - I have to redeem a thing.
Gotten unsure because of your comments, I played that chamber again and I must confess, I forgot, that the ball only lowers, when a cube sits in the left button, where the companion drops. So first thing, at the most clear way may look like: take companion down with you, take the other cube up and into that button. That was the only way for me, to prevent somebody from 'cheating' numbers without solving.
I wish you and all subscribers a happy new Year!!!

I am subscribed to "Back from Infinity"
& I do think geneosis is 1 of the best map makers around.
genius.
mevious is another 1, & I have done some of his maps.
but geneosis maps to me are more fun.
Rei  [author] 27 Dec, 2012 @ 2:42pm
Phew ... never thought, someone would give up on this one -_-
At least you are right with "sphere first".
By you being a fan of Genoisis maps, I thought, you are also a little into digital circuits.
Two droppers are one bit at a time (FlipFlop). So you have to cut the puzzle in two half and to do two times the same. If you make the system count between 2 and 3 by just pressing the button again and again, half of the puzzle is done and you only have to fix the second bit.
Further hints would already make a walkthrough.
Well, maybe my newest map " Back from Infinity " (<click) is easier for you, as you built a part of the puzzle already by yourself. ^_^
mood3rd 27 Dec, 2012 @ 1:15pm
tried both, but checked the light bridge, to see if it had let the sphere go.
never checked the exit again, as was convinced that the sphere was the needed 1st.
as I said, I give up.
their are so many items & possible scenarios, that I could spend months on this & still miss the correct sollution.
Rei  [author] 27 Dec, 2012 @ 12:38pm
Heya, I wonder if you are thinking a little too complicated - it actually isn't ^_-
So I'm even more delighted that the chamber isn't clear to see through for everybody.
Tip#1: Did you light up the display numbers by pressing the intended pedestal button or by trying to place the cubes manually? For the second, I designed the sphere for not to decrease, as it's not the intended way. So the chamber is not just pretended to be fixed and actually to make it easier.
Tip#2: By the way, 2 cubes stacked will definetively appear, but I don't think of that being an exploit in here, even if that can happen (too many cubes are just confusing here, not helping). Although up to six overall is still fine, you finally have to clean up the right way and you are done!
Tip#3: Once totally confused, the way to success is to kill all cubes and to start over!
mood3rd 27 Dec, 2012 @ 11:31am
I got the laser fields to light up:
1,2,3. in that order.
but sphere was still on top light bridge.
(resting on the part attatched to the wall)
cube droppers need to be raised, to stop exploit:
where by you can get 2 cubes, from 1 cube dropper.
I give up with this map, again.

I just re-subscribed.
will probably try again tomorrow or friday.
Rei  [author] 26 Dec, 2012 @ 2:25pm
Yeah, like said in my 1st comment, I sadly had to shrink that thing to this little one because of item limit.
It's not really a laser puzzle. You just have to focus to the numbers and cube droppers. With 4 cubes around, you nearly have solved it anyway. It's a bummer, you lack on motivation, as it shall not be a big skill to press a button ;)
Thanks, that you find the layout nice and It was definitely a lot of work. I didn't have had any ideas in logic gates in Portal before this map was built.
mood3rd 26 Dec, 2012 @ 7:34am
not into laser puzzles.
did try, got 4 cubes & killed all turrets in 2nd chamber.
but I lack the skill & motivation for these types of puzzles.
looks great. a lot of work has obviously gone into it.
I presume you are up to or near the item limit.

Biggest digital hex display ever! I'm still working on it...
Recipriversexclusion 30 Nov, 2012 @ 5:19am
Great "CPU"! I think it´s not as difficult as the "Circle", but you have count to three :D.
Rei  [author] 5 Nov, 2012 @ 4:22pm
If you find this one fun, then I would badly recommend the chamber "Circle of Alive" which is similar but more twisted and harder to solve in my opinion.
Rei  [author] 4 Nov, 2012 @ 4:46pm
Welcome in the CPU (Calculating Puzzle Unit)! Thank u so much 4 ur comment, but I nosily would like to know if Wheatley already let you go...
TwistedNonny 2 Nov, 2012 @ 11:10pm
Hey im your first subcriber o also First :D note: I LOVE THIS MAP
Rei  [author] 1 Nov, 2012 @ 4:50pm
Originally I wanted to create a huge counter, starting with the utopic number of 88 for the final destination. But by hitting the editor's gap I had to shrink it to a 2bit-version instead of a 7bit.
So in the end, looking at it, I thought it would become a great logical game by messing it up a bit. Or two bit - ehehehehe......
