The first WW2 themed map I've mad was gm_winterassault, second was this one (gm_sevenhedges), third was gm_pacificstorm and last one I've made was gm_liesnoy.

Alright, so how I understood your comment about my maps is that they don't have any technical problems, as in crashes or texture issues, but they don't fit your RP server (too small).

If that's the case, than I'm not surprised, since my maps are more designed for a small scaled PvP / PvE gameplay.

You can use my map, but keep in-mind that props linked in the description aren't mine, plus when converting the .bsp file to .vmf some textures may get messed up, so check if they align correctly.

That is because the strider npc doesn't have a roaming function, you have to download some kind of mod that allows the strider to roam around the map. The strider will only move when aggroed.

Air nodes is needed for all air NPCs, but the thing is that Helicopters or Gunships + the Dropship needs specific waypoints for them to use or other wise they just stay idle and do nothing, but even if you do add waypoints they only will work on specific NPCs that have the command to follow it, that means that player spawned ones would not move, but the ones that are triggered by a button will.

By the way, if you really interested in hammer tool and run into some problems, you should check out TopHATTwaffle and 3kliksphilip on youtube they make good Source SDK tutorials.

@DreDabom, you can find the hammer tool inside Gmod bin folder located in your steam folder. But first you will need to download Source SDK and Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer version from the tool section of steam library.

Best of luck to you, maybe you can make wanders with it. But remember, its not Frostbite engine, Cryengine or even Unity engine you woun't be making huge open areas with it like you would like.

Its not so simple to make the map larger. The hammer tool is not designed for large Battlefield 2 type maps where you can fly airplanes or any other aircraft. It is designed to make corridor type maps like seen in CS:S, CS:GO, Portal and Half-life 2 . Now sure there are maps that are large but they take months to make or are made by teams of developers, and I'm just a one guy who is doing this as a hobby.

So to have an idea is not enough, you need to have experience, time, patience and tools to work with. Now I do have the experience (kinda) and time, but I certainly don't have the patience or actually good enough tools to make large optimized maps.

Mybe make the map larger? i can use airwatch efficiently, but imagein WWII trenches dug in with those serrated shovels,(I'm a history Buff in WWII). or imagine a tank slowly crawling across the map. I feel the map could be improved, but I can't help except to give ideas.

It's not the skybox that is too small, the map it self is too small. As in the landscape of the map is too small to support air battles or any kind of flight.

@Dat-Mudkip - Well its the problem with HDR settings, something I can't fix. If you really want to configure it you will need to mess with the in game post process stuff until you find the settings that suit you.

@Dat-Mudkip - I only know how to change the bloom in sandbox, you need to go to post-process -> Shaders -> Bloom and then configure it how you like it, but as far as I know it only works on sandbox gamemode.

@BrandFlip - You might be using a weird addon since the map spawns are fine and shouldn't kill you or even damage your health points. I would suggest checking your addon list and try disabling some.

Only real thing to complain about is the bloom...it makes things difficult to see. That said, turning it off makes everything look ugly af...so I'm not terribly sure how you can fix that.

Very unlikely, mainly because the vmf file looks like a mess in hammer tool. It was my fault really, since I had forgotten how prop_static works so I regrouped all of the same type props to save some time, but that deleted all of my currect visgroups I had, so unless I spend some time regrouping all of the props, I wount be expading it any time soon. It is more likely that I will just make a new map.
