Thanks. This worked perfectly!

Here they are :) They're already landscaped subtropical look (FLA / CAL) so they'll probably fit right in with Hawaii. The craftsman homes are here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=692985456
And here are a bunch more tropical homes here. Near the center of the collection are some nice ones like the Savannah https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=598290812

I need a link to your guide, though. Since your profile is private, I can't find it easily. Thanks :)

That's a cool idea hadece! It is a bit lacking in the large areas, where ruined would be really nice to see. I'll check out your guide since I'm not very knowledgeable about this, and play around with the textures. Thanks very much for the info!
hadece 29 Aug, 2017 @ 2:39pm
As a solution for sand and water underground problem, you could as well make a classic ruined texture (like dirty sand) 98% invisible (alpha mask/png). It will then appear really late, and be almost inivisible near houses and roads but still appear on large areas. I made a guide about these experiments in case you want more information and examples. :)

Aha, Yup, minor annoyance isn't it? What you need to do is restart the game entirely for the new version to work right. No idea why :D If it's an already published that you updated within about an hour, you might have to force it to download the new version to you. Unsub and resub does that. Then restart the game, should be good
Quboid 7 Aug, 2017 @ 3:51pm
Yup, that was it. Saved it, quit the game, started it up and went to load city - no map theme set. My theme is based on the default so I didn't notice the difference. Thanks for your very quick help, and for your assets.
Quboid 7 Aug, 2017 @ 3:48pm
I'm using the theme editor, the same texture for grass and ruin. It looks correct in the editor but when I load my city with that theme, it's undone. Thinking about it, it might be that the theme isn't loading with the city, so it's falling back to the previous one.
MrMiyagi  [author] 7 Aug, 2017 @ 3:41pm
The other thing that I can think of is that, if you're looking at roads, some of the roads use gravel on the sides.... but if you open a city and it doesn't have the same grass texture, that would be truly weird. I wouldn't know why that would happen! I don't doubt you though, the craziest stuff happens in these editors :D
MrMiyagi  [author] 7 Aug, 2017 @ 3:29pm
Hey Quboid. Just to make sure I got this right, are you using theme mixer mod by TPB while you're playing a city, or are you making your own theme in theme editor (which is what it sounds like). What you do is in the map theme editor, what you do is import the same exact texture for grass and ruined. If that isn't working right, that would be a very strange mystery!
Quboid 7 Aug, 2017 @ 3:22pm
How do you do the pure grass effect? I set the ruined texture in my theme to be the same as grass, but it still showed the road/building border.
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 Jul, 2017 @ 7:54am
It definitely should be regular concrete. I changed all my themes back to default grey except the Monaco Provence one. If something doesn't look right let me know :)
Lextacy 28 Jul, 2017 @ 9:52pm
YAY !! Im going to try this out in a few days. Curious, does it have grey concrete? Id like to keep that good color :P

MrMiyagi  [author] 28 Jul, 2017 @ 7:08am

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=928333414

and Temperate Blue Green water will be a nice theme for Minnesota. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=741216169

Both will have better grass texture this weekend, but you can start using either one now. You'll automatically get the new grass as soon as I make it
Lextacy 27 Jul, 2017 @ 3:30pm
@MrMiyagi My city of 430,000 people is using the Minneapolis map which is based on Temperate
MrMiyagi  [author] 27 Jul, 2017 @ 7:38am
Here is a list of all the green grass themes. All of these are already green ruined, but I'll be changing them to full green grass as soon as I can get to them this weekend. You will automatically get the update to your game and will notice the change :)

If your city is temperate but you want it to look like Polynesia, you're in luck.

Temperate (looks tropical, based on Polynesia2) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=928333414
European (full grass, Alps) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=709145204
Boreal (full grass, fall leaves decor, and snowcapped mountains) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/itemedittext/
Boreal (Celtic green misty look green ruined update soon)
Temperate (greenish ruined, update to full grass asap) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=741216169

Lextacy which environment is your current city? I have a few others that also have all grass and no ruined
Stealthy  [author] 27 Jul, 2017 @ 2:46am
Yes, your map need to use tropical theme for this to work. Other themes will be updated in timely manner for this same feature.
Lextacy 26 Jul, 2017 @ 11:55pm
Does my existing city need to be of the Tropical also? The theme popup is not showing Polynesia Pure Grass :(
MrMiyagi  [author] 25 Jul, 2017 @ 4:28am
Hiya, yup! It definitely should work. Once I have a city save file, I've never run into a problem changing its theme. Same process as listed below, use "load game" and change the theme on the popup. BTW there are some other weird issues when people hit "continue game", so choose "load game" instead every time :)
Lextacy 25 Jul, 2017 @ 2:53am
@MrMiyagi Thanks for replying. Im hoping this trick can apply to an already city made of mine? Its 440,000 people.
MrMiyagi  [author] 24 Jul, 2017 @ 6:32am
Lextacy, it's a map theme, and sometimes getting a map theme to work is difficult for users, especially if a map creator used a different theme to make their map than the one you're trying to use personally. Do the following:
1. Make sure this theme is activated on the Content Manager's section "themes".
2. Start a new game with any tropical map, if it says "Warning theme not found" say YES to start a game with a default theme.
3. Simulation starts... hit pause. Save your city (yes, an empty city). Quit
4. Click *load* city (not continue), before you hit start, there's a drop down list of themes, *now* you select Polynesia Pure Grass.
5. Your game should load that new city with this theme.
Lextacy 24 Jul, 2017 @ 1:58am
Does not work! Mod does not even show up in Content Manager

OMG..It changes the game so much...Didn't expect something like that comming as I have never seen that grass not growing all the way to buildings :))))
