What do you mean by 'solar cycle' is that just fancy talk for 'day'?

Does this make it random every time you come to a new planet? Once you visit a planet does it lock in the time it was assigned by your mod for every visit after that?

oh ok
Double  [author] 18 Feb, 2018 @ 10:40am
I don't think I can do that
Also distance between the planet and the star doesn't have an effect on it's rotation speed irl (that I know of at least) if that's what you were going for

idea: planets closer to the star, get shorter cycles, (minimum 10 mins) and further ones get longer cycles (max 1 hour)

I've actually been asked to make it, also, if you know how to, feel free to take this mod, unpack it, change some numbers, and upload as your own with however much or however little change you made to it! Don't even say that you based it on my mod if you don't feel like saying that, just feel free. Sharing is caring!

Thank you for making this mod, I always felt the day/night cycles were way too short in the vanilla game. This 10-60 min variation is perfect.

Also it makes the whole cycle up to 1 hour long so the longest night you can have would be half an hour, unless you go on a midnight planet... technicaly there's also the day/night cycle but it seems pretty much night all the time to me

aw ok
thanks for the reply o7

Doesn't work with Frackin Universe
Amicus 3 Aug, 2017 @ 2:06am
does this work with frackin universe?

One hour long night + a planet-ful of Wraiths from FU = hell
Double  [author] 29 Jul, 2017 @ 2:29pm
Nope, they'll stay as they are
You can delete the universe file in your starbound and generate the planets again if you want those with the old cycle
installing/uninstalling the mod won't change any existing planets

probably asked already in comments for previous mod, but what will happen with planets, generated that way, if you will disable mod later? Revert back to vanilla day cycles, keep going as they were made or fucked up to requirment to create new universe/avoid said planets?

I can see how planet rotation can have something to do with it's size, but still in a random way... also I don't think it's possible in starbound yet, certainly not with my modding abilities
Astronomical 28 Jul, 2017 @ 10:29pm
@ *Yuki* Day/night length has more to do with a planet's rotation speed than it's size and distance from a star so random is probably closer to accurate.
Bruised Spartan 23 Jul, 2017 @ 7:07pm
It's probably a bit harder than that... But, at least it works?
*Yuki* 23 Jul, 2017 @ 3:04pm
Maybe make it not randomly, but based on size of planet/distance from star? Or currently impossible?
