I know a lot of people posting in this thread have been complaining about the lighting. I noticed it seemed like bloom was cranked up for some reason.. I do see Lockyn also posted.. but I was pretty happy with myself that I found that you can disable bloom and it fixed the problem with mat_disable_bloom 1 in console and it fixed it :D

nice mod but it also makes it insane difficulty when dealing with human enemies or turrets...

@TheTermintator12 and anyone else experiencing the incredibly bright bloom that this mod seems to produce for some reason, simply open the console and type "mat_disable_bloom 1" that should fix it.
Putting that command in the starting prompts doesn't seem to work and an autoexec also didn't seem to work so it'll have to be done manually but worth it for this mod.

Thank you very much for creating this mod! The assault rifle was way to underpowered in the vanilla game... The installation instruction was a little bit confusing at first, but I got around it. Thanks again!

Just got this mod to check it out, installed it and seems to be working pretty good so far (as of Office Complex). Does anyone else have a problem where it makes your flashlight & all other light sources very very bright to the point of it just whites out anything light colored? and is there a known fix for it?

Found the solution. Changes need to be made to sk_xorteb... in order to take effect on the vortigaunts.

A further question. None of my changes to sk_alien_slave_health seem to effect how many bullets I need to pump into the vortigaunts until they go down. Where do I find their health?

I believe the units you're talking about are the Units in hammer which is essentially the same as Inches.

I suppose technically a grenade is deadly out as far as the furthest flying piece of shrapnel. But my drill sergeants seemed to suggest that about 5 meters was the certain death radius (this was 7 years ago that I heard this, so my confidence in this information is shaky).

Ok, I have taken to making my own alterations to the skill.cfg file in order to get the precise level of realism that I want. One thing that would be really helpful though is if I knew what units they are using for the damage radius of explosives. I've heard that irl grenades are deadly out to about 5 meters (which is why most combat formations dictate a spread of at least 10 meters if terrain permits).

But obviously If I typed 'sk_detenator_frag_plr_dmg_radius "5"' that would be a pitifully small explosion, so they are clearly not using meters. They can't be using feet either since '16.4' would still result in a rather tiny explosion. So is the damage radius in inches? centimeters? Does anyone know?

I made a similar mod that is (currently) up to date. It doesn't go as far trying to achieve realism. It's not a life simulator. For example, headcrabs takes two shots to kill and not one shot. And snipers usually won't kill you in one hit (except on Hard). I didn't want to make such radical changes (that's already been done), and I didn't want realism to get in the way of fun. But I assure you, you will die easily, and enemies won't be as bulley spongey as before, and headshots will be deadly.

I am loving this mod. It works great, except on the Marines. It doesn't seem to have any effect at all on them. Explosives dispatch them pretty quickly, but they soak up as much machinegun and shotgun ammo as ever. They also don't seem to be able to kill me any quicker except with explosives. Could there be a conflict between the two mods that is causing the issue?

Please lessen the explosion, as well as the radius. This mod makes Ethically Questionable impossible.

Using outdated cfg files is dangerous. I created a similar mod but last year. Since Black Mesa updated, it can't work properly due to new variables and features being added to the game.

One would have to check every variable within the most recent skill.cfg file, and then use the console to search for hidden variables, like the Tau Cannon's rate of fire.

Since this game is more complex than Half-Life 2, it's harder to make it work as one would want. It takes time.

Also, i completely dont understand how this file affects graphics - it doesnt hold any line relatable to this as far as i see. Looks like source modding is mysterious as stalker one...

mat_disable_bloom 1

It turns off bloom completely, there's commands to fine tune it but probably not worth the time.

mat_bloomscale 0.01

Just tweak the numbers until you get what you want. Haven't tried that so it may not work. I just turned off the bloom.

Just if you're curious how I came to this conclusion. Spent about 2 hours trying to make the first long jump in Xen. Asked on the forums what I was doing wrong, somebody suggested verify the game files, which I did, which replaced the modded skill file and the long jump worked fine. I then put the modded skill file back and the longjump didn't work again. So I opened the original skill file, added the stuff in the original file under the longjump section into the player gameplay section of th emodded file and now the mod and longjump are both working properly.
