More Realistic Damage

Description
Important: You also need my Corrected and Improved Hitboxes mod for the intended experience.

Important: This mod has special installation instructions.

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my mod!

I have worked quite hard on this, doing the best I can to find a balance between realisism and fun. My main goals were to 1. Make headshots more deadly and enemies less bullet spongey, and 2. Make the NPCs' weapons do as much damage as your own. I was greatly inspired by Cinematic Mod's skill.cfg edit.

Also, the amount of explosive weaponry (frags, satchels, tripmines) you can carry is more limited. They are quite powerful and should be somewhat reserved for tricky situations.

I plan on updating this to tweak it and fix any issues. However, this mod will not auto-update, so please check back in a while.

Please note that you probably want to your change difficulty setting. "Hard" is really hard. Please give feedback on this difficulty setting, I am not skilled at FPS games.

More Realistic Damage contains a replacement model for the Alien Controller, so if you use a mod that replaces the same model, one will overwrite the other. The only things this mod changes about the Alien Controller are the hitboxes. Since they have such a big head, they are otherwise too easy to kill, now that headshots deal 2.5 times more damage than in Vanilla. With the replacement model, only shots to the bulging face part of the head counts as headshots.

Marines will now die from 2 headshots instead of about 4.

Enemies generally die more quickly but they are also much more deadly. Medkits give more health than usual. Security guards will be a bit more helpful.

INSTALLATION

1. Subscribe.
2. Set up a "custom" folder (see Setting up a "Custom" Folder).
3. When you click "Subscribe", the addon will be download to the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\362890\2033106571
Go there and copy the folder "more_realistic_damage_misc" into your "custom" folder. Alternatively download this zip:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1v9saCsDgpGgGrIqTPXe1xhXWbX6Ehi_Q
and extract to your "custom" folder.
4. Check back in on this page from time to time and look at the "Updated" date to determine if there has been an update. To update, copy the "more_realistic_damage_misc" folder as you did before and choose to replace all files on the dialogue window that pops up.

FURTHER DETAILS

If you just want to play, go ahead! But if you want more information, feel free to continue reading.

In addition to the damage and health modifications, the recoil (the "spread") for the Glock 17 and the MP5 has been slightly increased, since I found these weapons to be too powerful with the increased headshot damage. Black Ops will however no longer be able fire their glocks more rapidly than the player and they shoot in slightly shorter bursts (too difficult otherwise). Finally, security guards will shoot a bit more unpredictably.

NPCs' weapons will deal as much damage as the player's weapons. I'm not sure, however, that enemies are able to locational damage, so I guess it's not directly comparable.

I would have liked Vortigaunts and Ichthyosaurs to be a bit more resiliant than they are but it seems to be a bug or limitation with the game that prevents me from modifying their HP.

I used Pac0master's "Realistic" Damage mod for reference. Thank you Pac0master for your amazing work. Unfortunately, Pac0master's mod is currently (as of writing) outdated and might cause issues with the current version of the game. This mod is however not a copy of that mod. More Realistic Damage does not go as far with realism as the "Realistic" Damage mod does.

I will add more information to this page later. There are some comments in the CFG if you are interested.

Please give feedback and report any issues. Thanks, and have fun!

God I love this mod, especially on hard. I love that it forces me to actually think in combat as going guns blazing almost always guarantee's death. I love that the enemies don't shoot peanuts and actually pack a punch. I love that the enemies aren't bullet shields.

If you could, can you make this mod work for Blue Shift? If not that's okay and if it does work on BS then I'm gonna be rlly happy :>

first i thought this didnt work, then i noticed 50 bullets max for 9mm. eeerm, how am i supposed to play like this if i need 30 shots to take down 1 enemy? also u write in ur xml at inflict dmg scale 3 "If you go higher, it will take more than 2 headshots to kill marines with MRD" are u sure thats how it works? btw i need more then 2 headshots already the way it IS setup. i very much suspect some changes in the skill.cfg just dont work anymore :/

I'm going to need someone to explain this to me--
So there is this WONDERFUL little file containing the specifics of a weapon's damage count, problem? I don't entire understand it when none of them are to be found in the actual Black Mesa game files. What is there to replace, let alone edit?

But if I still take the same amount of damage like always it becomes too easy.. doesn't it?

the mod is great, but the Ichthyosaur can now be killed by one shot from a pistol and sometimes even dies by himself
