This is a wonderful fix. Damnit. But seriously thank you for this I've seen this wonder placed like 45% of my games and before I downloaded this mod it was useful maybe twice in hundreds of games. Now I've seen this wonder spawn a few times with the mod and it has always been in a useful location.

make a mode where you can settle ocean tiles like in call to power the best civ ever

Very nice fix !!

I was playing a game earlier in the week and I had Krakatoa available to me on a small island city. Ever since I've read it's rare to get. Go me! By the way, it's only 5 science, which was nice but by no means as good as some of the other mountain wonders.

Mac download??

Very simple concept fixing a massively irritating issue. Literally no reason not to run this mod. Thank you Barathor

Nice

Thanks for the swift reply - the is actually the only mod I have running atm, so there is nothing that could be conflicting. I'm just using the standard maps, although I tend to prefer Continents Plus.
Barrowulf  [author] 6 Jul, 2014 @ 12:00pm
It does; see my comments below. It's actually a very simple XML mod which changes the value of four existing items (three of them are just booleans) to enhance/correct the placement of Krakatoa.

I'm curious, what map script are you playing on? If you're using a map script mod, or something that messes with map generation, it's possible that it could be overriding this fix. Another culprit could be some simple XML mods which alter/redefine natural wonders. If so, try enabling this mod last (order matters) after others you think may be conflicting.

I was excited to see this mod, but I believe you're right in that it does not work on BNW. My Krakatoa remains stubbornly in the middle of the ocean surrounded by coastal tiles. It has yet to spawn anywhere near land. Bummer.
Luke69ers 30 Mar, 2014 @ 12:58pm
Changing terrain would be cool. We could have weather or disasters and shit
enix001 28 Mar, 2014 @ 10:28am
someone make that happen plz
Funkopedia 21 Feb, 2014 @ 7:54pm
You know what would be super-realistic?? If Krakatoa begins spawned out in the middle of the ocean, but, with each era advancement, two random land tiles grow/spawn next to it. You know, like an actual volcano does. It would basically become the Hawaiian islands. OMG IS THAT POSSIBLE.
Barrowulf  [author] 13 Dec, 2013 @ 7:24am
That's odd, bender. If you're interested in resolving it, you can try some of the steps here:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=440525

Especially deleting your temporary cache and ModUserData folders so the game creates fresh new ones.

Also, it sometimes helps to verify your game cache files within Steam:

Interesting. I'm having compatibility issues since the addition of BNW running this, Reforestation, and the Starting Scout mods at the same time. I eliminated the other two from the equasion already, so I had assumed that this was the culprit.
Barrowulf  [author] 11 Dec, 2013 @ 6:29am
It certainly is compatible. ; )

Also, if interested, here's a link to a newer mod which also makes Krakatoa more likely to appear near islands and smaller landmasses, along with some optimzations and fixes for the Rock of Gibraltar and the Great Barrier Reef.

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=173704558

Also, I've updated the tags of this mod to show that it's for all versions.

And, cookiemonster: Firaxis still hasn't implemented anything like this, so it certainly wouldn't be redundant if you decide to use it.
Terance Baggins 10 Dec, 2013 @ 8:20pm
I believe this is NOT compatible with BNW. I have to do a little more testing, but preliminary results are not good for BNW owners.
Bilbo Bongins 8 Dec, 2013 @ 1:37pm
Is this still needed? Does it work with BNW and the fall patch?
timmytoonz 4 Dec, 2013 @ 9:09pm
Cool idea. Seems like a simple fix the company could and should have enacted. Now -and not saying you should do this- it would be kind of interesting if it had a low percentage chance of a devastating eruption that effected the nearby tiles and even lower pct of some sort of climate shift (cooling, most likely) from the eruptio. Just thinking out loud here; I know that would get a LOT more involved.
pedriuss 26 Oct, 2013 @ 1:03am
Interesting... thx.
Warwick🐺 24 Sep, 2013 @ 3:19pm
Why does the game company just fix this themselves?

Was the wonder spawning in the oceans really a mistake?
Valthizar 2 Sep, 2013 @ 9:54pm
one time i played on a donut map and krakatoa spawned right in the center of the lake exactly 1 space away from max city expansion.
Wobbey 25 Aug, 2013 @ 1:38pm
This has bugged the hell out of me, glad someone took the initiative and fixed it.
CookieMagic 14 Jul, 2013 @ 4:03pm
I can confirm the same lines of codes work for BNW
Icepick 29 Jun, 2013 @ 10:05am
Such a simple mod, such a perfect fix!
CMDR Emotions 28 Jun, 2013 @ 2:46pm
@jrregan

jrregan 17 Jun, 2013 @ 7:19am
How come the krakatoa mod isn't showing up in my Mods list. Is this normal? I've un'd and resubscribed and it's still not listed.
LuckyDog 16 Jun, 2013 @ 3:18pm
Hope this does it!
Razor 11 Jun, 2013 @ 9:29pm
This is great, Thank you!
mauporte 9 Jun, 2013 @ 11:39am
Great fix :) but I was wondering, could it be scripted to appear in middle-to-large islands in the middle of the ocean?
kermidge 11 Apr, 2013 @ 4:37am
Great fix; it showed up in my last game and worked like a charm. Thanks you!
AceHighness 7 Apr, 2013 @ 2:35pm
