Greetings, i just got the game a few days now, and im hooked, especialy for the Mod Parts
, but to get it all working smooth and nicely, my question is, wich mod's are needed to have a compleet moded game with all the small little things that are needed, i mean, what MUST you have as basic mods so you can play with them all, is there a Compleet Mod Pack..?

Can someone help me on this..? i worked at the Dutch Railroads for 16 Year's here in Holland, the City Of Maastricht, im kinda hooked on trains lol, so i want the Full dutch Mod first, once i got the Base Mods that are needed to make it all run smooth, Help is apreciated, because i dont know where to look, so many mods in there, but for them to work, you need a base setup so you can run them all out there, and there are Plenty LOVE IT !!

so let me know send me a message... especially for the Dutch Railroads part

Thanks for your Time :)

Last you want Gimp. Gimp is an opensource photoshop-like program that will allow you to change the Geotiff file to a .png 16bit grayscale file that you need for this game. It can also be used to change the size of the file, blur some of the terrain so you don't end up with massive height differences, and moddify the terrain manually (for example for adding rivers.)

@TheCinC

For merging and resizing your heightmaps into your map: Microdem. this opensource program can do a lot of stuff. I find it key to making detailed maps. It is a hard to learn program though, and although i have used it for a few of my more recent mods, i still can't quite fully understand how it all works. You use this program to merge the heightmaps, change it's size and export it as a grayscale Geotiff file. it also has the option to change certain heightranges in the heightmap to other heights. This might be the key to dealing with land under the sea. You can also use the option that finds sea and lake/river areas, and sets those areas to the lowest level on the map.

@TheCinC

If you still want to give it a try to make a map yourself, here are some sources i use:

For heightmaps: http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/dem3.html This site pretty much has all of the world available as heightmaps. the files are hard to modify though, as they have a strange file type.

For a quick look which of the downloaded heightmaps you need: VTBuilder. This open source program allows you to open the heightmap files to have a quick overview of them, so you an decide which to use for your maps.

@TheCinC this map isn't of my own creations. One of the makers of other Netherlands maps made this. He didn't mind me using it at all, and i did make some major changes to the map. I am fine with you using this one, as i can see this mod has its own flaws. Making a map for the Netherlands yourself is terrible work indeed with all of the land below sea level.

I am creating a modified version of the 1850's map, due to being completely unable to create a height map from scratch. I think the Dutch landscape completely trips up the Map Creator on https://www.transportfevermods.com/en/mapcreator.html as a lot of land is below sealevel. Is this height map your work and if so, can you tell me how you created it? As it seems to be shared with another map in the Workshop and I am not sure who to credit/ask for advice. And would you have any objection if I upload my version with credit to you for basing it on your version?
General of Rome  [author] 18 Nov, 2018 @ 12:09pm
@tsilaicosneknurd I thought i fixed that problem in all my mods, but i forgot this one I guess. anyway, it should be fixed now.
tsilaicosneknurd 18 Nov, 2018 @ 9:09am
ok, I maybe did not explain clearly what I mean. the file "Mod.lua" (whit upper case M) exists, but not "mod.lua" (lower case M). Which may work on winddows, because by default a case insensitive filesystem is used, but does not work on Linux or Mac (case sensitive filesystems by default). I personally fixed it just by renaming the file.
By the way it is a great map.. good work.
General of Rome  [author] 9 Nov, 2018 @ 4:47am
@tsilaicosneknurd I checked it on my own computer, and the file DOES exist. Your problem is probebly a personal error on your computer caused when you downloaded it. as you can see in the comments there certainly are people able to play this mod.
tsilaicosneknurd 8 Nov, 2018 @ 8:43am
does not work at all:
error in file ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/446800/1096442405/mod.lua: cannot open ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/446800/1096442405/mod.lua: No such file or directory
the file is erroneous named "Mod.lua"

@M@rt.in well, as far as i know you can't spawn new cities in the middleof the game. that's why i choose to make 2 versions: 1 with all cities already added, and one without flevoland cities. If you want to, you can make those cities yourself with the plop town buildings mod (link in description).
M@rt.in 6 Jan, 2018 @ 8:33am
Why aren't the cities in Flevoland shown from 1970-something? Emmeloord's first people lived here since 1950's, Leystad is founded in 1967, Almere 1975 And Urk is pretty old as far everybody knows :)
May be you can add other cities like Hoofddorp, Anna Paulowna, Beverwijk, Huizen as well?
Darkfoxx Bunyip 22 Nov, 2017 @ 7:56am
I found an error that made me laugh. Spijkernisse VS Spijkenisse. XD
Darkfoxx Bunyip 15 Nov, 2017 @ 10:48pm
@Gero the Dutch Shepherd: To get this map to load, you have to make 'experimentalMapSizes = true' in the settings file.
Gero the Dutch Shepherd 8 Oct, 2017 @ 8:22am
It is not working. I got the warning: heightmap is too large, number of pixels must not exceed 16M. Any idea what the problem is?
General of Rome  [author] 20 Sep, 2017 @ 6:55am
@zoltan.kocsis.1990 unfortunately i do not know how to get acces to such big maps. The one that i used for this mod is a altenated version ofsomeone elses mod. If you have any idea where to find a grayscale heightmap of all of Hungary i would gladly make one of them though
zoltan.kocsis.1990 20 Sep, 2017 @ 4:06am
Thanks very big Like, awsome map with New Industry mod OMFG
You can create my little country Hungary, in experimental size?
peycke 19 Sep, 2017 @ 1:54pm
This map is wonderful but i would prefer a version without industry as place is tight. Could that be realized or what do i have to do to place industry by myself ?

Hi General of Rome, I had the crashes that gekkegerrit had too. The problem for me was that, while creating a new free game, the Town names setting was on Dutch (i used this earlier this week). After resetting the Town names option to Default the map works perfecly. Thanks for this awesome map!
Scronny 3 Aug, 2017 @ 6:10pm
Do I sense some nationalistic dreams? :p
gekkegerit [EFA] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 12:16pm
i will give it a try tomorow ;)
General of Rome  [author] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 11:01am
just dit a quick update that moved Zaandam a little bit to the right, which will hopefully prevent crashes as a result of the town being inside a lake. Also corrected the name of Münster (was called Munster)
gekkegerit [EFA] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 11:00am
ok, thx for the info mate
General of Rome  [author] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 10:47am
* netherlands, not nehterlands * insert facepalm
General of Rome  [author] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 10:46am
you can always manually move the "map" file (includes heightmap and a map.lua file) from program files --> steam --> steamapps --> workshop --> 446800 and then search for nehterlands or something. if you find this file just coppy or move it to program files --> steam --> steamapps --> common --> transport fever --> mods --> make a new map in this mods folder, name it whatever and put the files you coppied/moved to here. in this way you basicly made a personal mod, so you can fyck around with it trying to find a way to fix it for yourself without breaking the original mod file that you have that would be updated when i myself find an error.
General of Rome  [author] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 10:38am
no clue then..... Anyone else having trouble getting this to start up?
gekkegerit [EFA] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 10:34am
nope, still dont work :'(
loved the pics, looks realy nice :o especialy the part of flanders :p
gekkegerit [EFA] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 10:27am
then its gone be the road mod ;)
map size is on true
General of Rome  [author] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 10:26am
have you turned turned 'experimentalMapSizes = true' in the settings file?

or are you using the no initial roads mod? since this mod for some reason fycks up the placement of zaandam, which then ends up in the water....
gekkegerit [EFA] 1 Aug, 2017 @ 9:50am
cant seem to start the map, game shuts down on its own
without any errors showing
AlwaysRM 1 Aug, 2017 @ 6:05am
hmm Let's try this out
