This is wonderful! The improvement compared to older entries is most palpable, the storytelling and the environmental art are amazing! I loved the hydroponics section myself, you are capable of doing great things in life and this mod will remain at the back of my mind for years.
Thank you for creating and sharing your wonderful art! :)

@HappyMatt12345 Yup average mod developer makes something people like and quits for no apparent reason

Sad that Outpost Calypso seems to be an abandoned project based on the comments... I enjoyed this one, very short, no real enemy encounters, and the tool chip took me WAY TOO LONG to find, but I enjoyed it!
Kryll 5 Apr, 2024 @ 11:20pm
Dev said it's straight up abandoned on moddb. RIP.

I really like your map mods and am really excited for Outpost Calypso, and I have a question. Do you have an ETA on when the mod will come out? Thank's for your time.

Nice custom story.
A Grumpy Overlord 26 Nov, 2017 @ 10:06am
Very well structured, I was semi clutching my mouse in fear of a monster appearing; the story even in this teaser trailer is highly evident.

I cannot wait for for Outpost Calypso to come out, all these teasers leading up to this is making me hang on the edge of my seat. You and your team should be very proud of the work you do here!
mentoschow 17 Nov, 2017 @ 8:51am

amazing mod, really well done. Keep it up!

are there multiple scenerios to how you find david thrash? On my first run I found all his notes and found him in hydroponics claiming that "he knew he was going to die". (no enemy spawn). I then foolishly stepped into an electricl field near one of the locked doors and promptly took damage and got zapped. I then thought I could spring through it...died and restarted from the beginning. It was there that I got a monster spawn on my second playthrough. (or does rushing and not reading his audio logs trigger the monster spawn?)

Just to remind everyone (because apparently people don't have the time/patience to read). This is an "interactive trailer", so there is no reason to complain about the length (even though we know you all want more of this atmosphere). If you enjoy this mod, check out the other Extinction series mods while you wait for some piping hot fresh content from Draugemalf!

(The length of the other mods are FAR more fitting for your expectations)

TheStoryteller01 20 Sep, 2017 @ 5:14pm
Short but good. Very atmospheric and fits the SOMA universe as well as expanding it. The motivation of the station commander was reasonably believable.
HIghtier Gamer 8 Sep, 2017 @ 7:19pm
Good but too short.

@Amoox Doesn't matter that much. Ariadne's Ocean is last theoretically.

What order should I play the Extinction mod series? @Draugenmalf :epicstickman:

Exterminator 8 Aug, 2017 @ 1:53pm
so, I ran through and got to the guy with gears in his chest. So the gel had taken his tumour and spread to the rest of his body. Then I killed myself with electricity like a retard. It put me back at the beginning, but I didnt have a problem with going back. After discovering that the chip and the omnitool were in different places (which really screwed with brain) I got to where the robot/human body should have been. Instead though, I found a decomposing body in a reality where the gel didn't work. It was a very intriguing and pleasantly surprising moment. Overall, I really enjoyed this mod. Keep up the good work!

(From my ModDB Review, Mild Spoilers)
StarButterflyRules 7 Aug, 2017 @ 10:31am
(Written as of Version 1.1 on Release Day)

The newest custom campaign from acclaimed, award-winning SOMA modder Draugemalf is an 'interactive trailer' about a salvage team searching the ESS Apollo for resources after their ship (the TSH-1 space station) faces starvation from being stranded in space after the comet Telos wiped out the planet's surface.

The main highlight of the mod is the level of detail Draugemalf puts into his maps. The amount of tiny details like the dust floating high above the ground like smoke to the layers and layers of scaffolding on the roofs is amazing to see.
StarButterflyRules 7 Aug, 2017 @ 10:31am
With these maps and their beauty it can be both a blessing and a curse however as the one larger map you spend 90% of your time in is not optimized at all. On high settings I can get Frictional's vanilla campaign to run at 60fps but on low settings this mod drops to 25-40fps due to the level of detail. For higher spec PCs, you shouldn't need to worry. But for low-mid range PC expect some mild to moderate performance issues.

The story itself is pretty good and interesting to read. All throughout the station you can find audio logs, emails, logs and login information about the lives of the crew before your character arrives. The best part being the varied logs one of the characters leave around that really flesh out the story. The dialogue was written pretty well: straight forward talk with no flowery or simplistic phrasing (which is the safest but more balanced of the three choices). No complaints here.
StarButterflyRules 7 Aug, 2017 @ 10:31am
The mod's voice acting is the third highlight as it has majorly improved since Echoes of Rain and Ariadne's Ocean. Gone are the robotic voice work and actual robots, now replaced with decent to great performances with highlights being the Station PA and a character we learn about on the ship itself.

The mod does have varied gameplay event it mostly amounts to collecting items to collect more items. While I do appreciate little touches like shortcuts being opened to help progress slower players the main meat of the mod is little more than backtracking with assorted items.
StarButterflyRules 7 Aug, 2017 @ 10:31am
Unfortunately for horror fans the build up to the monster is great but is let down by a very easy to get around section that takes little more than a minute, at most, to complete. Very underwhelming moment that should've been improved upon.

Since the mod is a trailer to a bigger mod in production as of writing, it fades out after 20-30 minutes of gameplay (that is when looking through all the story tidbits). If not for the replayabilty of major changes to the ending of the mod and it being a teaser, I would've said that it was extremely short to cut off.

Overall, the mod is worth playing for people looking for a strong story. Gameplay is lacking and the horror builds up to a very disappointing moment in the mod. The voice acting was a giant improvement from his previous work but that and the brilliant level design doesn't save it from being an interesting walking simulator. A good mod but certainly not his best work.
XenixEffect 6 Aug, 2017 @ 7:31pm
YES.
Hypercube 6 Aug, 2017 @ 5:35pm
Very interesting mod, the pacing was nice. Though it was a little short (being an interactive trailer), I think the atmoshpere was on point. There are some flaws though.

Personally I think the abrupt music changes from different areas is kind of weird along with the whole map feeling quite compact. I look forward to outpost calypso eventually!
música fluye (Bitte Records) 6 Aug, 2017 @ 7:39am
