I used the asset_unpacker tool on linux that the developer (of starbound) gave out. This mod is legit as all it does is set workerPoolThreads to 8. Nothing more or less.
geniusthemaster 25 Oct, 2024 @ 2:14am
still continuing to use this mod
PanicOregon281 26 May, 2024 @ 11:56am
Krammer all it does is modify a config setting.
Read the original non-steam version mate.
krammer01 26 May, 2024 @ 11:14am
mod is a lie, placebo. Why they can't work: Starbound mods simply don't have the engine access that would allow them to "increase threads", etc. Any mod that claims to do so is lying/fraudulent. It doesn't matter how plausible it sounds: they are incorrect or lying.

Last Mod Dev interaction was 7 years ago @Didymus, so do it yourself :D
Didymus 20 May, 2024 @ 1:03am
i wanna know the théorical max number of thread and try to apply it
i curently have (only) 48 cores
so is there a 40+core version of this mod or i have to do it myself?
Cap'n Rightbarrel 5 Feb, 2024 @ 1:52pm
This doesn't work sadly..
Sulfur_ 8 Aug, 2023 @ 12:29am
please add 32 threads edition

i have the 16 core 24 thread of i7 -12800HX ,i wonder if this work ?

requesting 20 threads
n3uva 29 Dec, 2022 @ 5:23am
could you make 10 thread version? my PC has 12 threads
Kate Hanami 4 Aug, 2022 @ 2:42pm
This is badly worded, op is confusing many words
Physical = core
Logical = thread
So this is for 8 cores, 16 threads, something like an i7 or an Ryzen 9
Be warming, if your computer has 8 threads, this is not fir you
Halita Silverblood 5 Jul, 2022 @ 3:24pm
Not many comments, but in my modpack this solves 95% of the freezes. Only one not solved is the session item recipe indexer. Definite difference over a playing hour.
Myahster 22 May, 2022 @ 11:29pm
I have 12 cores, and my game still struggles.
PanicOregon281 12 Sep, 2021 @ 3:01am
Yes, as far as ik. it works on my Linux machine
Kasane Teto 12 Sep, 2021 @ 12:07am
This runs on Linux, correct?
PanicOregon281 13 Aug, 2021 @ 8:35pm
yeah that's not normal, it should always be either a .pak or a raw folder.
Busts-A-Nut 13 Aug, 2021 @ 8:32pm
The non steam version makes me log in and when i try to do so downloads an apk of all things, so yeah, don't go there
gartfart36 22 Jun, 2021 @ 5:05am
actually it is 1.4 compatible after all these years
its literally just 4 lines of code that changes a simple value
ive taken a look into both the mod and the game to see it do its job just fine.
☥¤§ÑîGHTMÃRɧ¤☥ 24 Apr, 2021 @ 9:37am
not 1.4 version compatible
☥¤§ÑîGHTMÃRɧ¤☥ 15 Nov, 2020 @ 7:35am
can we get a 12 edition my laptop is 12 cores i7.
Gaylord (Kimiko) 8 Nov, 2020 @ 7:46am
possibility of a 16 thread version?
gartfart36 30 Sep, 2020 @ 10:42pm
so guys if your cpu only has 2 cores, there is nothing you can do.
install all the thread adder mods you want but you will always be stuck with your hardware limitations. there is no way to cheese or software in more threads. i understand lost of yall are running core 2 duos or athlons but the upgrades are pretty cheap.
FreezingSweetTea 6 Aug, 2020 @ 4:12pm
Is there a way to get rid of NPC lag with computers that have 2 cores?
Let That Sink In 14 Jul, 2020 @ 3:28pm
any chance of a 12 thread version?
Phantoma 2 Jun, 2020 @ 9:31pm
the 6-core version is listed as "6-thread" and is linked just above.
GhostHackNinja 2 Jun, 2020 @ 7:18pm
can you make one for 6 cores and 12 threads?
Fei the SCREAMING BEAN! 21 Mar, 2020 @ 7:02pm
the big question is, can i use this mod while friend use a different version?
Gray Gravy V 21 Mar, 2020 @ 12:49am
So I have 2 cores however when i use this mod i notice that up to 6 (i waited and counted for a while) NPC will do things simutanilously rather than the normal 2 when i play vanilla...allso i have a ship full of bARN animals and when i have this mod enabled all the animals move about but without mod they all just be standin. no lagglesnesss ive noticed. just more activity. unlockes the limitations thats all. for me anyways. im on surface go fyi
PanicOregon281 21 Mar, 2020 @ 12:23am
There is a hard limit, to thread (coded by the engine)
Also after so many threads you take a lot of performance hits, as some threads will start waiting on information from others
After so many threads you'll end up with a cascade of lag.
Gray Gravy V 21 Mar, 2020 @ 12:09am
Can you make a mod that adds more threads?
Gray Gravy V 21 Mar, 2020 @ 12:08am
Subscribed
Gray Gravy V 21 Mar, 2020 @ 12:07am
I have 2 threads.
GarionStan69 12 Mar, 2020 @ 6:05pm
Willoguns While I'd go with the 6-threaded version just to be safe, by the looks of it your CPU has 8 physical cores but only one thread per core, meaning you might be able to use the 8 thread version.

Try the 8 thread version and if it crashes or slows down too much then switch to the 6 core version, but I doubt this will happen.
Willoguns 16 Feb, 2020 @ 10:15pm
with an i7-9700KF, would you recommend the 6-thread or 8-thread extenders?
Faux_Grey 9 Jan, 2020 @ 12:15pm
Is there no 32 thread version for those of us with the 3950x?
Thanks for making this!
Phantoma 13 Nov, 2019 @ 2:59am
It's an issue of application and budget. Most companies don't want to buy a 400 dollar 8 core 16 thread CPU for a desk worker doing Microsoft Office or Word. It takes money to implement SMT. Most office grade CPUs are made on simplified dies that have sectors removed or non functional. So they set them in the nearest CPU bracket that it can capably fulfill its proposed standard. In short, they are the bottom of the barrel.
PanicOregon281 13 Nov, 2019 @ 1:58am
I never understood that about some CPUs if the benifits have nowhere to go but up, wouldn't it be obvioous to intel to allow all processors to benifit from it.
Maybe it's an issue of architecture?
Phantoma 12 Nov, 2019 @ 11:29pm
@DudeWithTheIllegibleName: Well, assuming the said Intel CPU specified does indeed utilize hyperthreading. Not all Intel CPUs have hyperthreading, in fact many are without it as it's treated as an 'Enthusiast' property, not that I agree with it. I believe all CPUs should utilize Simultaneous Multi Threading as it is simply nothing but an improvement.

@tojake2: In terms of the Celeron N2830, there's actually nothing you can do to help it perform its tasks. It is a locked bottom-grade 2 core CPU mostly for basic office work.
PanicOregon281 12 Nov, 2019 @ 10:31pm
the Celeron N2830 only has 2 core 2 threads, there is not really anything this can do for you
as Intel CPUs already use HyperThreading
Gordonmorbzolla the III 12 Nov, 2019 @ 9:38pm
Also I'm 2.16 ghz and CPU N2830
Gordonmorbzolla the III 12 Nov, 2019 @ 9:37pm
Mine say's Intel(R) Celeron (R), what's good for that one?
PanicOregon281 24 Sep, 2019 @ 11:06pm
@Black Knight, Logical cores, are basically hyperthreading from my understanding
i believe the 6thread version will work, as intel will try to balance the load across the logical cores of the physical core
SacredSpirit1337 24 Sep, 2019 @ 7:32pm
https://gyazo.com/e582fe245074509b65384687012cc3bf

Here's my cores and logical processors. My CPU says Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz

Which version should help? I tried the 6 and still got a bit of stuttering on planets. Might just be my mod load, though.
PanicOregon281 22 Aug, 2019 @ 4:56am
@Siege, something likely isn't being multi-threaded very well at all
you should find out if it's a mod or the vanilla game, and contact the corrisponding auther with the problem
Siege 5 Jul, 2019 @ 2:33am
I have 9900k, before using this mod, my CPU usage was spiking between 50~90% on only one of the core, CPU2 and after subscribing to this mod, only CPU5 is predominantly being used. what could be the problem?
Phantoma 10 Feb, 2019 @ 3:37pm
Starbound was never a high performance application.
