Just imagine, if you were that penguin, and some weird object is around your neck, you don't know what it is, some dude grabs you, throws you at a monster/other human, and then BANG! You're gone! Forever! Would you like that?! If not, then by all means, don't download this mod.
I just don't get why people would like that.

You do not need the base addon for it to work. In fact, it actually won't work with it.

base addon need? i copy Penguin.vpk to black mesa\hl2\custom & addon folder ; i pickup 15 penguins without grenade explosion effect. make pickup 9 penguins with grenade explosion effects

Move the vpk file into your custom folder.

Did some more digging and found that the snark explosion particle effect is tied to every single blood effect in one big .pcf file. This means that anytime a blood particle is used (whenever you shoot something) it will also be an explosion (but do no damage), so the tiny snark pop will have to do I guess.

Done! I have made an alternate version of this mod that changes the hud icons to the same ones from OP4, and made the explosion do damage (same as regular grenade). Also, I made it so when you pick up a snowman you get only 3 penguins and capped the maximum number of penguins you could carry at one time from 15 to 9 (just like in OP4). If anyone would prefer this version simply download the vpk here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/lzxq3upipiibwy9/Penguin.vpk?dl=0) and put it into your custom folder. NOTES: NO EXPLOSION WHEN PENGUIN DIES, IT ONLY DOES THE DAMAGE LIKE ONE, CHANGES DONT AFFECT MULTIPLAYER, AND IT REPLACES SNARK. (I tried to make it it's own seperate weapon but I just couldn't :()

I don't want to come off as picky, but in OP4 when you pick up ammo (snowman) you get 3 penguins, and you had a maximum of 9 penguins. This makes sense because compared to the snarks, they have the potential to deal a lot more damage with the explosion, so you can carry more snarks than penguins. Also, in OP4 there was a custom hud icon for the penguins and a little ammo icon next to the number of penguins you currently have. I think you might be able to rip the same sprites from OP4 and put them in your mod, but I couldn't find them in the files of OP4. Now your amazing mod doesn't have the explosion feature (at least it doesn't deal damage) so I don't mind the ammo capacities being the same. I was able to make the ammo pickup give 3 penguins, but I couldn't find a way to make the explosion deal damage or change the maximum number of penguins you can carry.

If you know any ways to make this change a reality, I think a lot of people would appreciate it (I certainly would), but if you don't want to that's cool, you have already done enough for us. (Sorry for splitting this comment into two seperate comments, I hit a character limit)
