Oh wow, I remember playing this when I was just getting into community maps. It seemed much harder back then

amazing level!

Dang that was good. F6/F7 often due to the unavoidable nature of such puzzles (easy to mess up in a way that requires redoing lots of steps), but wow I love this. I guess this is where the "Introduction to the Workshop" collection starts to get serious. :P

Semi-blindrun (at least 4 years since I've played, took a break starting from late 2019)

Unparalleled laser-and-fizzler puzzle. Looks simple and yet very deceptively complicated. It's all about where you can get the laser cube via portals and activation of laser catchers - requires reusing a lot of prior steps in diverse contexts and having faith in your plan that seemingly locking yourself in one "sector" with no portals to the outside isn't necessarily the end. Very hard for some people to realize that, including myself on the first playthrough.

Difficulty: 6.75/10
Design: 10/10
Enjoyed: 8.75/10

A "simple" design that still provides a challenging puzzle. Well done.

Very nice puzzle map.
Dark Rozen 11 Apr, 2019 @ 11:33am
A pretty nice short map. Could add a little more "out of the box" techniques.

Thanks for the chamber. Fun to play. Neat little concept.

Oh, yes, I played Portal Stories: Mel about a year ago, and it was a great time! Some puzzles there almost made me go nuts :)
And No Elements series is absolutely beyond my abilities. I hardly solved 2 chambers out of 20 or so o_O
Azorae  [author] 6 Dec, 2017 @ 11:45am
I'll agree with Dickgirl Jones here - Mevious is on another level. I've collaborated with him on the No Elements series and his designs are excellent. He also contributed a puzzle or two to the free mod Portal Stories: Mel, if you haven't played it

>You're just making crazy cool puzzles! Are you from this planet?

Ask this question to Mebious. His test chambers are totally unresolvable. While Azorae's ones are merely very hard :)

Excellent puzzle.

Great puzzle which, for some reason (probably luck!), I found quite easy. I'm already following both of you :)

qrioso 20 Jan, 2017 @ 2:04pm
A bit tricky but not hard. Good job and thanks.
MaximuX 22 Jun, 2016 @ 9:49am
I did it so I didn't have to use your solution. I threw the box from the second room into the first so that it would line on the lazer and in line with the 3rd rooms lazer receiver. I know that isn't the correct solution but it worked, on the first try too. Pretty simple after that.
ScubaDude 19 Mar, 2016 @ 9:37pm
It took me for ever to figure this one out. So, I let enough time go by that I'd forgotten the solution and played it again. Here's the video.

Asha Man 1 Feb, 2016 @ 8:25pm
Short and sweet, clean and logical. On my first run through I aimed the laser through the cube while holding it from the other side of the fizzler, lol. A move that is probably never needed but interesting that it's possible. I'm sure many beginner portal players are using this technique before they figure out that crouching makes pre-aiming a reflector cube much much easier.
lfairban 25 Aug, 2015 @ 8:11pm
Great map. That took some thinking.
jam.lab1 16 Aug, 2015 @ 4:37pm
Very, very clever. Really had to think on this one. Good job.

Continued...

Once I realized this, I finally found out the answer to my question: how do I get both the laser cube and the laser outside of the usual solving area and set it up so I could point the laser to the catcher? Once I found out the answer to that, the solution was quite satisfying, Thanks once again for a great map! :D
zigzagtenniscoe 12 Aug, 2015 @ 1:04pm
Neat map! At first I didn't get the concept so I had to leave it till the next day, but then I realized that you had to do the puzzle once with the laser cube, than do the puzzle again with the laser cube in the other room outside of the usual solving area, and you had to shoot hte laser through the glass to get it to the cube to the catcher. Continued in my next post.
stormsend 2 Jul, 2015 @ 3:52pm
Very satisfying despite being fairly easy. Great job. Thanks.

Very, very good map. When it comes to test elements, sometimes less is more. This is a great example of that philosophy.

Please try, rate & comment on at least one of my tests; reciprocation is appreciation:

I am not one for fizzler-laser puzzles but this one was one of the better, less annoying, but still more challenging ones. Nice!

It looks so simple, yet it was very challenging.

I just published a level that also requires out of the box thinking.
