thanks for the reply.
i ended up reversing the select locked objects to select only locked objects and doing similar to what you've suggested, made a hex grid from objects

@Lord Animal Chin Grid cells are not objects so no, if you want buttons on them all you could make grid cell objects and hide them under the table or something. I'm not sure if that was the answer you were looking for.

anyway to get this to create the buttons on all grid cells within range instead of on every object for measuring empty spaces?
Riaktion 28 Feb, 2021 @ 1:40am
I've figured it out... works great! Thanks!
Riaktion 28 Feb, 2021 @ 1:29am
OK dokey, I am going to try this again, not sure why I am not understanding how to use this tool... lol
Flolania  [author] 27 Feb, 2021 @ 10:14pm
@dunami5 linked = same size for both x and y. There is a little chain next to grid size for linked.
dunami5 27 Feb, 2021 @ 10:11pm
not sure what "linked" hex grid means, but they are all the same size (scale 2.25). I just tested the height theory again and seems to be working (tried at 5 different heights) - not sure how folks are showing on stream with various height. All good in my book!!! cant tell you how many hours this has saved in my games!
Flolania  [author] 27 Feb, 2021 @ 9:14pm
@dunami5 You must use linked grid in tabletop. You cannot have different (non-linked) size grids when using this tool. The math isn't as straight forward when the shapes aren't true hexagons/squares. You also don't have to worry about height, as it isn't even figured in.

Hey Flolania, Noticed using hexes at different heights throws off the calculation. Totally understand why, sadly Battletech rules don't really account for height. I think rounding is easy enough, i just know seeing a decimal is causing folks not to use / trust it. Thanks!

@riaktion load the mod up.. it has examples
Riaktion 25 Feb, 2021 @ 11:23am
At the risk of being muppet... I really don't understand how to use this lol. Can anyone help? Sorry!

Hey Flolania, i included this in my BT (battletech) accessories mod and its got a ton of positive feedback. Kudos to you!!

One request that came in (not sure how to do this) is to highlight the hexes between the target locations. Happy to work with you on that if you want. Figured i'd pass that feedback along. Thanks!

WOW! I found this totally by accident, and I love it, thanks!

@elaxter Just tested and everything works fine. It doesn't do anything strange.
elaxter 2 Feb, 2019 @ 3:59pm
Hey just a heads up. It crashes my game when I use it.
Shine 21 Feb, 2018 @ 10:34pm
I was looking for something like this! Thank you for making this tool.
Flolania  [author] 29 Aug, 2017 @ 3:59pm
It now works with Square grids.
Flolania  [author] 26 Aug, 2017 @ 11:19pm
that would be a way easier than the hex, so I can.
Murfinator 26 Aug, 2017 @ 6:18pm
Could you make this work with square hex grids?
Jedius IX Bakka 26 Aug, 2017 @ 1:21pm
Yay!
Flolania  [author] 25 Aug, 2017 @ 10:37pm
Hope you guys like the update.
Flolania  [author] 25 Aug, 2017 @ 8:06pm
I just searched for hex measure and it popped up. I can add tool to the end to get that word as well
Unreal Ed 25 Aug, 2017 @ 7:58pm
It would be better in the name. If I'm looking for this mod in the Games menu, I'll be typing more for "measure" or "measuring" (tool) than "hex grid"
Flolania  [author] 25 Aug, 2017 @ 7:47pm
Guess I could put it in the picture.
Unreal Ed 25 Aug, 2017 @ 7:40pm
You should call your mod something more descriptive like "Hex Grid distance tool"
Flolania  [author] 17 Aug, 2017 @ 10:22am
It can.. i'll put in soon.
Jedius IX Bakka 17 Aug, 2017 @ 3:26am
Oops, wait. Sorry to bother you, but is it possible for the script to ignore locked objects?
Jedius IX Bakka 17 Aug, 2017 @ 3:13am
I love you.
