I think this is a great ship mod, really enjoy it. the only thing I find a problem is the R collection range and transfer range on the larger ships is far to short. I'm not sure if this is intentionally part of the mod or if there is some way I can increase this?

My ship,occasionally,seems to just blow up after fighting with EAF ships. Perhaps a long-burning EAF weapon-effect? Or a (vengeful) long,long range zap by a certain beam superweapon? Not certain,but it happened a few times after pitched battles(my seek and destroy forays) with EAF. BTW,let me just say that I very much enjoy the sophistication of your faction mods,the weaponry and ship designs are well done,if at times frustrating to deal with. ;) Excellent work.

@AhzuulRetrovali - Known issue but I have absolutely no idea how to fix it as I can't reproduce it on my end no matter what I try. For some reason the default command block when you create a new ship design gets switched to a nonexistent block which doesn't have the regen flag on it... I genuinely have no idea what to do with this unfortunately as it doesn't happen with any other mod, whether mine or others'.

You can work around the issue however by using command mode to copy one of the default ship designs into your palette and just deleting everything but the core. Any time you want to design a new ship, copy that core and build around it rather than clicking on a new slot.

To recover existing ships affected by this issue, you can export them, swap the core to the correct one via the sandbox (toggle build mode with '3', use commands "import", palette x (replace x with faction number), and "export"), and then import back into your campaign save.

Anyone else have an issue with this were when you're playing as this faction your ships won't regen?

@EricZaDaddy - Glad you're enjoying it. It doesn't matter at all what key you bind the RCS thrusters to; that doesn't do anything. This is a pretty old mod and at the time I created it the only way to put a little arrow (to indicate direction) on the RCS thrusters was to make them a launcher which launches nothing. Thus, the game considers them weapons and lets you bind them. This does not interact with their functionality as thrusters in any way though.
I'll try to push an update soonish which will solve this since the new modding features which have since been implemented give better ways of adding arrows and other details to blocks.

Played with your faction quite a bit and I absolutely love it. though I do understand the point of the RCS thrusters, i cant for the life of me figure out how to effectively use them when they're bound to my right mouse key. I've also had some issues with "growing" into other ships and stations, but i can thankfully warp out using the warp core. maybe you could make the warp core cheaper to unlock in the upgrade screen so that it can be used for earlier and small ships so others dont have that same issue? (your faction has by far some of the most awesome and detailed base ships ive ever seen, i haven't even made my own i've just been modifying yours because of how good they are) I dont expect it to be done super soon or quickly, just wanted to throw it out there before i forget

This is getting annoying
I keep getting stuck in the big capital ships, first I reactivated a station and I was going back to dump off my R and it built itself over me and I was stuck inside the hull with no way out
Second time was when I was flying around, wasn't paying attention and rammed a capital ship. I tried to get out but one of my blocks was lodged inside and I couldn't escape

@Darth Merlin - Thanks! And yes, Children of a Dead Earth was one of the inspirations for this mod.
I'll reduce the recoil on PD railguns in the future (when I originally made this mod there was no way of doing so, but now there is).
RCS thrusters are meant to be used for turning; they produce a very brief pulse of strong thrust force, but have low continuous thrust output.

@Lux Arcadyant - As with the vanilla factions, you have to destroy a ship worth over 1000+ from the faction in order to unlock it. I may however change this in future to make it automatically unlocked.

the RCS thruster is good to be used as a turning/manuevering thruster. the RCS thruster applies alot of thrust for a very short period of time, before getting drastically weaker.

Just passing by to say: well done.
It does remind me a bit of "Children of dead earth", even the drones names sound familiar. But I do have kind of hard time to beat miniship factions with these, because the PD railguns keep producing more thrust than then actual thrusters (and I never found out how the RCS thruster should work).
Anyway, a pretty faction, thanks fpr making it.

@✪ Majii - The best way to get the ship designs is to open up the sandbox from the main menu, press '3' (enters editor mode), and use the command "fleetpalette 20000" (spawns all ships from faction 20000, i.e. this one). From there, you can type the "export" command in the console to export the selected ship to the desktop, after which it can be imported in the usual manner.

Note that the cursor needs to be placed on the sandbox console in order to type in it.

I'll delete the previous link I gave (the one which didn't work for you) to avoid confusing anyone else; at the time I didn't realize how Steam's relocation system worked.

where would I be able to find the lua files for the ship designs so i can import them. The link before just shows purple blocks. Space is broken hence the typing is weird

@Authentic Foreman Grill - Nope; where'd you get that info from? There should be four generators (two types with two scales each) which produce energy:

There's also one "generator" with 0 energy/sec (just stores energy), and two with negative energy generation (teleporter and anchor).

@Matt - Oh, that. There's actually a method for fitting octagonal blocks in a manner which aligns perfectly with a square tileset; it's just not particularly easy to figure out if you don't already know about it.

It's not a super strange problem, many other mods have the same problem - it doesn't line up right with any of the blocks which puts you in situations where you have to box them in with a load of space around the outside of them. I noticed the big EAF ship has somehow snugly fitted it into their centre but I spent several hours trying to build a big ship with like 16 generators and tried many different combinations and couldn't find a way to neatly place them on a ship without having them just kinda hang there outside of my ships alignment. @Flame Noir - Ah, it depends on what graphics mods you have enabled. When I created the mod and took those pictures, I was using an older version of a graphics mod, which washed out colours a bit (had some nice effects though). It's since been updated to not wash out colours nearly as much, but alas these are old pictures. My guess is you probably don't have any graphical mods at all, which means darker and more saturated colours.

This is kind of random, but I've just noticed that the ships in the pictures on this page do not show the same level of detail/color-contrast that the ships actually have in game (for me anyway). The pictures look... simplified? Maybe some kind of graphics setting? IDK, but for me the ships had intricate patterns of black armor, grey hull, and orange "painted" blocks that really added to the visual impact in a way that most reassembly stuff does not.

Appreciate all the kind words in the comments (I read all of them, even if I don't always reply), and I'm happy so many people like this mod - this was my first attempt ever at creating one, so I'm really very surprised it's been so well-received.

@☭The Toolmaster Of Brainerd☭ - Yeah, this is mainly just due to the ships having a lot of little antennas and such on them. I can't fix the issue entirely, but I suppose I could make it so that the collection docks (which are particularly good at getting stuck) can pass through allied ships... I'll have to test it a bit and see whether that would cause any unexpected issues.

Hi, not sure if anyone still reads these, but I just wanted to say that the artistry and creativity in this mod are incredible. The ships are beatifully constructed and have a consistent design philosophy, yet are not lacking in variation and diversity; the weapons are fun an interesting to play with, but not excessively overpowered, especially at early stages when even the Reds and Farmers can give you a mean run for your money.

Overall a great Reassembly mod. The first one I've tried, and I definitely picked one with an extremely high level of quality. The author clearly put a great deal of effort into it, and I knew from the moment I saw how creative and cool the ship designs were that it would be an excellent addition to my Reassembly experience.

@hellatze - You can manually unlock the faction if you go to C: > Users > Steam > steamapps > workshop > content > 329130 > 1114602838, open the factions.lua file found there, and change "playable = 1" to "playable = 2". This will make the faction unlocked by default. You may need to redo this every time the mod updates, but that shouldn't be very often.
