I looked at the images for like a half a minute thinking "*raised eyebrow* What does this change?" and then i scrolled down. Neat :3

Perfect for planning cities beforehand

@Trevor it's on the Steam Workshop. I don't remember the author's name, but it's probably highly ranked on the UI mods list.

BSZONYE- where can i load the detailed map tacks saw it on a youtube video and love the idea of seeing science or production total i can get
beezany  [author] 3 Apr, 2022 @ 6:37pm
@Prawie I recommend checking out the Detailed Map Tacks mod for new features. Most of this mod is built into the base game now, so I only keep it around for some minor cosmetic tweaks. For new features, I use Detailed Map Tacks. It's really excellent.
Prawie 3 Apr, 2022 @ 6:44am
Is there a possiblity for the icons to add automatically on proper districts?
beezany  [author] 15 Feb, 2022 @ 1:39am
@nurphy88 That's a different mod called "Detailed Map Tacks." Now that my mod is incorporated into the game, I've just been maintaining a few small adjustments for my own personal tastes.
nurphy88 12 Feb, 2022 @ 5:22pm
Does this mod count the total bonuses for tacks placed on the map? Didn't work that way with my game in progress, wonder if I just need to start a new one
Zyxpsilon 26 Apr, 2021 @ 7:14am
@bszonye..
Ok.. understood!
One thing i was hoping for after the NFP packages is a way to add the Strategy Resources icons which took a sharp turn into "tackable" assets with their newest Modes. Monopoly could even use Luxury support too.
But honestly.. the current features of your mod are just enough as is.

Anyhow, modder @wltk created a cool "Tacking" device that offers us comprehensible Yields markers along side your stuff.
beezany  [author] 26 Apr, 2021 @ 5:59am
@Junky Thanks for mentioning the Detailed Map Tacks mod! I will have to check it out the next time I play. It sounds like it provides a lot of the things I never got around to, like hotkey support, plus really cool planning info!
beezany  [author] 26 Apr, 2021 @ 5:41am
@Zyxpsilon I haven't played recently, but I just took a quick look at the recent update, and there are no changes to the underlying scripts. That means that the mod is still in sync with the base game, and this version of the mod doesn't touch any of the display stuff. (The mod is very minimal now. After Firaxis incorporated the mod into the base game, I reduced this to fixing just a small handful of remaining quirks.)

@Junky Thanks for the heads-up!
Zyxpsilon 3 Apr, 2021 @ 7:34am
Strangely.. the Map-Tacks are now "overlaying" city banners.
Not sure if *this* mod might cause that HUD flaw or if any recent updates to Civ6 native code could be wrecking something up in your LUA functions.
Anyhow.. can someone please verify or confirm?
Junky 29 Mar, 2021 @ 11:09am
This mod is now compatible with Detailed Map Tracks.
InfernalIre 17 Mar, 2021 @ 9:46pm
I love this mod so very much, but playing cooperative multiplayer is so painful with this mod. Once you select the tack, you then have to select who to display it to in the drop down menu for every single tack. It would be so nice if it would default in the drop down to the last choice so that you didn't have to keep selecting the group you want to display to every time.

+1 for hide/unhide
ELLIOTTCABLE on Discord 27 Dec, 2020 @ 2:10am
I see you're taking a break from modding; if you ever come back to this, something that would be *super* worthwhile would be a button to globally show/hide all tacks from the worldscreen - late-game, when I have a lot of parallel plans, my lap may be *littered* with tacks. This can especially interfere with combat and movement (it's pretty easy to fail to move a unit because you accidentally hit a tack instead of hitting the tile itself!)

A button for me to hide all those tacks, and then show them when I'm actually getting ready to place a district/improvement and I want to check my plans, would be absolutely *clutch*. <3

is it possible to make a tack glow? sometimes the tacks are too easy to miss for the lack of contrast.
beezany  [author] 29 Aug, 2020 @ 12:51am
It has been on my to-do list for a long time, but I am not doing any active development right now.
michael 26 Aug, 2020 @ 10:32am
I see you mentioned the ability to hide/unhide tacks a couple of months ago. Any idea when this might be available? I had an enemy ai scout nab a builder in my capital. He had been hiding behind a tack for about 10 turns while I had moved all my troops away. I have since taken to saving my game with all the tacks and then deleting them all. It's a pain having to save and reload the "tack-save" to see again where I had placed the tacks.
QikFix 17 Jul, 2020 @ 7:58pm
Is there a shortcut to put tacks in the map?
mikeysouthwell 1 Jul, 2020 @ 4:25pm
Fantastic mod and so great that Civ have included it in the base game! Do you know if you could add adjacency bonuses overlays and lenses to the map tacks as if it was a district to aid in city planning before you get the districts?
beezany  [author] 16 Jun, 2020 @ 8:34pm
Thank you! Hot keys have been on my to-do list for a long time, but the last time I investigated, they were tough to do without making the mod a lot more fragile. I might revisit it later, when I am not exhausted from real-world chaos!
TheCivEngineer 16 Jun, 2020 @ 4:37am
Great mod, so awesome that Firaxis saw what you did and paid homage.

Wondering if it'd be possible to incorporate a HotKey to place (Concise UI uses X by default) and automatic naming (also Concise UI)? Asking because I use Concise UI's approach because those two are so handy but I like that yours includes the other miscellaneous tacks.
ChrisMartin 14 Jun, 2020 @ 11:35pm
Thank you for the update. Noticed that Barbarian icon was "a bit off" after May update. Glad it is corrected :)
beezany  [author] 14 Jun, 2020 @ 6:19pm
New version 3.1.0 fixes the barbarian outpost icon. I added back the original camp icon and fixed the new one so that the red color appears correctly on tacks.
beezany  [author] 14 Jun, 2020 @ 6:18pm
@gregggggg Thank you for your support! Tack hiding is a pretty common feature request, and I do have an open ticket for it, but currently I'm only doing compatibility fixes.
gregggggg 9 Jun, 2020 @ 3:27pm
@bszonye could you add the ability to hide/show the map tacks?

playing on strategic view all the time makes it hard to see unit icons in a medium-zoomed out view. especially on lower resolutions.

love the mod man thanks!
Exeed 20 May, 2020 @ 6:53am
good thx
Gary 20 May, 2020 @ 3:16am
man, good for you that they incorporated the mod into the game. was using it for years :)
delendaest 7 Apr, 2020 @ 4:08pm
You're absolutely right, that's what the problem was, thank you!!!
beezany  [author] 1 Apr, 2020 @ 10:31pm
@delendaest The devs incorporated this mod into the game last year, and this version just fixes a few small cosmetic bugs. I just tested it on its own, and it's still working fine, so I'm guessing that you have another mod that conflicts with the map tack panels.
delendaest 1 Apr, 2020 @ 9:55pm
I'd love to use your product, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong... I've installed the newest mod through Steam, but nothing happens when I click on "Map Tacks" above the mini-map... What am I doing wrong? Is there some button I'm supposed to click? I'd really appreciate your help!
HJY 13 Mar, 2020 @ 9:06pm
thank you!
beezany  [author] 9 Oct, 2019 @ 3:26am
@Doshgard Lots of mods have trouble on Linux, and I think a couple of the mods on your list aren't even working anymore. Sorry I can't offer any more specific advice than that. Not many mods affect the startup menu, though. This one doesn't.
Doshgard 5 Oct, 2019 @ 12:34pm
Hi, seems like there's some little issue with usage on Linux platform.
When using this mod together with
- Religion Expanded
- More Movement / Moar Movement
- Good Goody Huts
- Truly Abundant Resources
- Yet (not) another Maps Pack
- City Roads
- Luxurious
- No early AI City State Rusch
- CIVIG 2
I've no items listed in the main menu (where you normally select single or multi player).
Unfortunatelly, I've currently no additional information besides this problem, as a freidn of mine does not experience this as he plays using Windows. Maybe there's some problem with path mappings?
alkurte 11 Sep, 2019 @ 7:20am
does it have keybind?
joakim.westergaard 18 Aug, 2019 @ 1:32am
Is there a way to get the position of the map tacks (map X and Y)? Either in the UI or in lua.log?
Moyocoya 26 Jul, 2019 @ 8:55pm
Yes
Nizou 26 Jul, 2019 @ 1:33pm
Is it compatible with June update ?

very good
Finwickle 9 Apr, 2019 @ 3:07pm
@bszonye: thanks for continuing this great mod and congrats on getting it included into the basegame.

A feature I would love is to have is one-click 'templates' for often-used tacks.
Example 1: I often plan several cities ahead, always with the same icon and text.
Example 2: I always tack nearby barbarian camps, so I know where cleanup is needed and don't accidentally go too near with vulnerable units. Again, always the same icon and text.
beezany  [author] 5 Apr, 2019 @ 12:33pm
@pauloel7 Thanks!

The Delete button is on the right to match the Load & Save Game popups. The game is unfortunately not consistent about which side it uses for other confirmations. It uses Windows conventions (OK on left) for some screens and Mac conventions (OK on right) for others.
pauloel7 5 Apr, 2019 @ 11:16am
Wish the "OK" and "DELETE" buttons were swapped out, 'cause positive confirmation is always to the right, and negative to the left, a minor UI thing. Congrats on the accomplishment.

@BlackSmokeDMax Yes, I’ll continue to support the mod as long as I have new ideas to implement or new bugs to fix!
BlackSmokeDMax 3 Apr, 2019 @ 6:56am
I had unsubscribed knowing this was in game. However, I am glad I was still subscribed to your thread on civfanatics, the new responses there let me know that you have already made some improvements. Glad to have it back on my mod list! Thanks for all the work!
beezany  [author] 2 Apr, 2019 @ 10:05pm
@Moyocoya I fixed the main thing that was bugging me, and that's the jagged icon layout in the top two rows. I liked most of the other changes that Firaxis made, and they even implemented a couple of things that I wanted but couldn't quite get working myself.
Moyocoya 2 Apr, 2019 @ 9:44pm
Your mod was much better on my point of view. I hope we'll have it back !
