but I kinda want one that makes NPC's instead of shoot you or others, go near others, in an attempt to spread more of itself.
basically the infection fungus, but it hijacks the NPC(obviously it'd probably be only vanilla) I think its possible, but I don't know how.
I figured it was an interesting idea based off of a real life fungus that takes over ants and other insects, to try and spread itself. lol.
Below is the error that pops up when trying to remove fungus, happens not just with rope from a little testing and will come up many times, once for each fungus entity with the #68 being replaced with what I assume is the entity ID of each one. Hope this helps in solving the issue, other than this one thing in multiplayer it works great :3

When the reanimated creature is killed, the body could (I dont care if it does, but it would be cool) spawn the ragdoll (the corpse) with 2 or more Corpse fungus on it. This make a huge problem with having to treat dead bodies to make sure no fungus on it, then store it in a room to avoid it.
It pretty much makes its own gamemode at that point.
i had thought this was abandoned.
