Hang on. How many do you start with by default? I've heard conflicting answers like 6, 12, or even only 4.

For those using LWOTC, going to the LWOTC directory, then opening XCOMGameCore.ini inside that will let you edit your starting soldiers; as no mod that lets you add soldiers yet supports LWOTC.

@dragon32 Descobri, foi porque eu não coloquei o primeiro nome em alguns soldados, apenas o apelido deles, e o sistema não pegou esses soldados sem primeiro nome. Eu teorizei isso no mesmo dia, mas como eu fiquei mais de uma semana sem jogar eu não testei, mas ontem descobri ser isso mesmo. Obrigado pelo feedback rápido! Aproveitando, existe algum mod. ou código em um ini que eu possa fazer com que eu possa escolher com quem será a coesão de cada soldado? Por que no momento são oito esquadrões, e todos eles já têm seu parceiro e seu esquadrão definido, e muitas das vezes esse parceiro está com uns 0,1 de chance de coesão, existe algo que possa me ajudar?

I set it to start with 54 because I have six squads of nine soldiers each (I increased the amount of pods and soldiers in them a lot lol...), but as soon as I started a new campaign, 40 soldiers came from my pool, and 13 random , since I have exactly 54 soldiers in my pool, can someone tell me where my mistake is, I can say that there is no other mod that messes with this same function. And sorry my English is weak so I used google translator lol.

You do not need a mod to edit this. You need to go to DefaultGameCore and change the end of that line NUM_STARTING_SOLDIERS= to whatever you want, save and exit the ini file and bingo. One less mod to crowd the modlist for a very simple edit. There are many other things like that you can mod yourself in the DefaukltGameCore of GameData or any other config files. Just backup first ;P

I think it was. there is this line and I have a mod that adds two more soldiers.

It could be LWotC, idk

The first line, negative sign prefix, removes the vanilla entry. The second line adds the mod's new entry.

The vanilla value is 12 so some later loading mod you have is changing the value to 24

I dont think this works with LWOTC. I set it to give me 60 starting soldiers and it only gave me 24.

Fatigue alone may not be harsh enough to merit 40, but a bunch of other masochistic mods might be (Such as having to fight sectopods right off the bat, fancy new alien forces and other tidbits that make not getting waxxed early on extremely punishing.)

I recently added this and it's great to have a larger starting roster! I do agree with some of the other comments about fatigue not being harsh enough to warrant 40 troops though, so I tweaked it down to 24. I use a starting squad size of 6, so that lets me choose three full teams plus alternates/coverts. I think it's a good amount, but doesn't devalue early game rookie POIs or reward soldiers. What I really need is a mod to make injuries and fatigue longer, then I'd definitely raise the starting count back to 40.

Okay, that makes sense. Once I finish this campaign, i'm gonna turn things up a notch. Kick up the difficulty, add ABA, and then some A Better Rookie/Arsenal to balance things out.

@Thor of Florida I haven't played XCOM 2 in a little while, but I think the fatigue levels are different on all difficulties.

You know, I thought that with the integrated fatigue system, that I would be using other soldiers more often, but after a mission, they don't always get fatigued/tired and so I'm still left with most of my roster as rookies. Then again, I am playing on easy atm just to get my feet wet with all these new wotc mechanics. Do they get more tired at higher levels, or at least take longer to recover?

I loved this mod in vanilla with the old fatigue mod, but now it's almost unecessary to use with how often i can use the same soldiers. Again, it might be because of my lowered difficulty.

Anyways, I want a lot more soldiers, but I am a bit afraid there is a limit, and adding like 200 soldiers would break the game! ;)

How do I change the number of starting troops? I checked xcomgamecore.ini, but the num_starting_soldiers already is =20, yet there's 40 troops?
