Uniforms and save games are separate. You could have saved a uniform, got your save corrupted, started a new campaign and apply your saved uniforms to your new soldier of the new campaign. There is a dedicated folder where uniforms/characters are saved.
Have a read of these, they could help:

Mod not working? Mods still have their effects after you disable them?
And if you use WotC and the Firaxis launcher: https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/wotc_modding/guides/fix_duplicateactivemod
I have a huge character pool and sometimes it's a pain to try and find the right character to load, I mostly have characters already designed and I want to retain their look whenever it changes through armor loadouts back to their original setting as originally designed in the character pool.
(maybe another miss but i just see sewer, new user of WotC inside ;) )

1) if you multiple armour mod. (Kexx, E3245, Satu)... will they jump around whenever you either change tier or use light/heavy armour? (In my case they seem to go with a mercy skin by default when I put something completely different to begin with..)
2) do the mod keep tattoo lock on the character? ( again recently I have to retattoo over and over again because the don't seem to stay on the character)
3).... dang it my memory lost that one ...might come back later with so this will be the placeholder for it
**********Only Check This Mod And Not The Origional For WoTC**********
I've seen it reported that this issue is fixed now, but haven't tested.
In short. Thank you enormously, again! As because of this glitch, this mod is now the ONLY way I can save any of my soldier's looks, as once in an existing campaign they stay un-randomed. So I have a whole (easy) campaign just to hold my character looks. This mod was, and is to this day, a godsend to me! Especially since I'm far too lazy to individually turn off and test every. single. mod. (bearing in mind I have basically every wotc compatible cosmetic mod at this point)
I believe the author said he didn't implement that behaviour in this quick conversion.
(forgive me if this has come up already)
Is it just me or are others not getting the "CLASS UNIFORMS" button in the armory soldier view? Just wondering if there was a work around for this. I like the auto assignment of uniforms to rookies and classes.
I posted discussions to both mods in hopes of prompting work on compatibility. You might be interested in subscribing to them.

I get that, but most of what I use the uniform for is to have matching camo patterns and colors on everyone. Still, thanks for the tip.
Yeah, I have that issue too. My work-around is to define outfits explicitly to revert the hero characters. I imagine the other thing that would work well is simply to apply a uniform prior to adding the hero characters to the current mission. I don't actually want hero units to wear a general uniform anyway.
