@Poltergeist turns out it's just a stupid idea to haul huge trailers on tiny roads at 5 pm regardless of which, if any, traffic mod you're using. I pulled my head out of my ass and did the same run at 9pm with this mod and it was smooth as butter. 100% operator error on my part.

@GravityWon I feel ya. You can always remove this mod and try out the Urban City Overhaul mod on the SCS forum. That mod enhances the traffic density in and around big cities, but keeps the vanilla density on all the other small roads.

I had used this mod in the past and gone back to Real Traffic Density but actually whilst I was waiting for their 1.54 update I returned to this mod and am sticking with it. The AI drivers are much snappier about reacting to things, changing lanes and driving at speed. Obviously it isn't perfect and the start stop at the green light for roadworks is infuriating but on the whole this is a very accomplished mod and way better than the stock traffic. Let's hope one day SCS overhaul the whole system and get us a lot closer to something more realistic, but that doesn't seem to be an area of their focus for whatever reason. Thanks in the mean time.

Nice idea but ultimately unusable for anyone wishing to do heavy hauling on logging and tight mountain roads. The density of traffic is the same when you're on a dirt road 20 miles from anything as it is when you're on the freeway in LA, It becomes impossible to navigate the tight turns when theres AI traffic doing 60 mph around a blind corner and slamming into your trailer. That being said, if you only do highway and normal city driving then I can't see any reason not to use this mod. Its fantastic in every scenario apart from the ones mentioned above.

Hi. I noticed in 1.53 some new lines for example in "traffic_rules_spawn.sui" extracted from def/world folder:
traffic_rule_data : traffic_rule.s_trm_u
{
# name: "Spawn density medium trucks urban"

rule: "density"

str_params[]: "lanes: 0.5 0.3 0.2"

str_params[]: "truck_medium" ...........
On most trucks and busses this "str_params[]: "lanes: 0.5 0.3 0.2" is new.
I wonder if this has to be transferred to Your mod, and if i transfer those it could affect this mod in some way? Thanks.

I've updated the car_city variable to its new name, hopefully that fixes it.

But I don't recognise the files or path from the other error posted. It might be a conflict with another mod in your case @mayto.

It sounds it may be something to do with the taffic_lane.sii file from /def/world/ folder. But this mod only includes and changes the traffic_rules_spawn.sui file. Sorry to be of no help, but maybe verifying game files might help if it's not another mod.

Sorry to bother, but crashes my game with this:

I love it! Late night/early morning there is hardly any traffic. Day time can get very busy. There are well mannered and idiot NPCs. Well balanced and believable. :coolstar2022:

Had traffics tucked when I was doing special mission, had to reload the save to get rid of all the accumulated vehicles. :D Dunno if this happens in vanilla too.

@mister.hister real traffic density adds realistic urban traffic but can eat your fps up. this is less realistic but more sensible for gameplay without being stuck at an intersection for 4 light cycles. i like both but i'm currently using this over that cause even RTD at 0.6 g_traffic, it was too much traffic especially in smaller towns. good thing about RTD it creates extra classes of vehicles(classic,motorbikes and sports car) if you're using jazzycat ai traffic pack as seperate spawns

After using every singe Traffic mod out there and none of them doing a good job I've finally found the holy grail! Thank you! I can actually notice the variance in traffic at different times.
I could notice this mod working right away when a car cut me off far closer than the vanilla game or any other mod did, this helps a lot with traffic jams.
The best thing I think is watching the AI getting into actual accidents in front of me, they cut each other off, and even brake check you if you ride their ass lol
This mod is THE BEST traffic mode I've used and has made it into my "Necessary Improvements" list of mods.

ps. since you're so good at making this mod work as intended have you ever thought of making graphic mods or anything else that overall improves the realism of the game? You've got some skill to make this mod work this well if nobody has even come close to this level of overhaul on the games traffic system, you should make other great mods. :104:

Thanks for reporting the issue, it should be fixed now.

SCS loves renaming ancient variables randomly, which I didn't notice.

Thank you for the update. However only with this mod this error appears all the time in the log causing a stuttering. Apart from this traffic mod I have : Trucks and trailers traffic project by d goldhaber. I don't know if it has anything to do with.
