i was stuck figuring out what to do once getting up the staircase. i totally missed the portal surface on the side wall. i think the turrets had me flustered. i thought i would have trouble over the bridges but i got over them pretty quick. i never seem to be able to find the hidden items. didnt find the cube:steamsad:

I have enjoyed exploring this map. I solved but I don't know what I did other than keep going till there's noplace left to go. I went forward and backward so many times I was constantly looking to see if anything changed. I think it is a great map using some interesting ideas. One part, the light bridges, I wore out the F-7 key. I did that thing three times. First - 40 attempts, second - 15 tries, third - 5 times. I think maybe four or five more times and I could do it right. Loved finding turrets everywhere. Like finding nuggets in a mine. Tantalizing to see the exit and not be able to get to it. Seemed to be an optical illusion at one spot. Looking through the glass at the exit, then going around and up the stairs to look for it there and it's gone. Another chamber but it looks like you should be be able to see the exit. Cool layout. Thumbs up. Come play in my yard sometime.

not a hint, just a mental exercise:
their is always the play it, then think about it, as your drifting off to sleep.
then play again, the next day.
this has helped me on many maps, that I was stuck on.
& has helped others.
it does not always work, but surprisingly often does.

For the piston: I have no idea! I choosed the light bridge linked to the 3 last buttons to stop the exploit found by chrishrly. The spare cube is just an extra, if you read the hint and search for it. If not, you still can solve. And the path for the cc gives you an alternate route to the last buttons if you forgot your cubes/sphere there, once you have activate the 3 catchers and cut off the access to the first room. As you saw, I placed the first cube dropper over the second room, just in case, and added a flipped panel at the end to let you explore and come back to the exit easily. Thank you for your time again and again. I'm still stuck on your last one...but will go back!

light bridge solves piston problem.
what caused the glitch with the piston, that was under the exit ?
I have a spare cube, why ?

their was 4 cubes in the screenshot. I had to extend the lenth of the picture or use the scroll bar, to see all 4 cubes.
I see you altered the portable area, under the hidden cube.
I had to go there, myself. & pick it up :)
this time I killed the turrets on the speed gel, before I went there.
I found the light bridge timing, more user friendly, this time.
may be you altered it, or it is because of doing it before ?
as I have played this map so much & you have enhanced / updated it so much as well.
I would like to give it another thumbs up, but can't.
so I have favorited it instead :)

Very cool! I like your laser funnel engine a lot,
My blind run was clean, no real problems. After, I replayed, to see if I could find any exploits.
I did find one, a respawning cube trick that lets you take a shortcut, but due to the nature of the map its very unlikely anyone could do this on a blind run:)

if you look at my screenshot, I am over the exit.
you see where I left the reflector.
so I have the rest on their buttons above the exit, to get this far.
the piston did go up, when I 1st directed the laser into the correct laser catcher.
but when I completed the map & stood above the exit.
the piston was down ?
I went back & used the reflector, to put the laser into the 1st, 2nd & 3rd laser catcher.
but no effect, this time ?
I think the question is:
is this a bug or can the player (me) do something to deactivate the piston.
if it was something I did. you might be able to fix it
I found the cube, because I noticed the open area, after going back to kill the turrets.
lasered 2, then used cube as shield & knocked the left one over
you may have to make it more obvious to a newcomer, where the companion cube is ?

Thank you mood3rd for re-visiting! For the piston????? It's going up and supposed to stay up when one of the catcher (left one) is triggered. You're right for the engine room, I redesign it completly. There use to be 2 cubes, 4 funnels. I wanted to reduce the items used. Did the piston worked for you after that problem?

re-tested.
not sure what activated the piston under the exit.
it was up previously, but went back down for some reason ?

as you see left 1 reflector behind.
went back & tried using it to direct lasers into the 3 laser catchers.
but no piston movement ?
tried dropping to exit without the piston.
but keep landing on the piston.
which is in the goo :(
impresive light bridge engine room.
don't remember that from 1st test.

After solving, I played it a second time and I was able to trap myself in the large room with the sphere dropper. The two cubes were already up by the light bridges abd the sphere was up by the dropper (blue funnel), so I couldnt use them to get out. Then, I portaled up and trapped myself up in the room where the orange gel was located.

I could probably solve another way, but it would involve a high degree of randomness (throwing the cube while running). I have solved the intended way. Please try my map when you get a chance.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/t6hvrr8cqbl9sxb/guardedorangefunnel3.dem used a little bit more...also about halfway through the demo I am forced to noclip into another room and delete (ent_remove) some of the lasers to continue. I'm not sure how the demo will look on your computer, but when I try to reflect the laser through two cubes it doesn't come out of the second one. This is caused by the extreme number of lasers throughout the level, hence to solve the level I have to remove some lasers. The demo file is created by Portal 2:
-download the file and put it in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Portal 2\portal2" (assuming you're using windows)
-start up portal 2 (make sure you're subscribed to this map, and it has downloaded)
-type in the console "playdemo guardedorangefunnel" (without quotes)
