Love this map, I built my "final" city for CS1 on this map (yes there's nothing stopping us from still playing the first game).
Will we get to see this map on CS2 when mods become available?
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Mar, 2023 @ 6:59pm
Also, there are some workshop trains that are in broken assets. If you're using them, they could cause random issues like this. Those are also on that spreadsheet. Try unsubbing from all custom trains. Good luck!
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Mar, 2023 @ 6:37pm
Hi stlmapper, sorry that happened to you - very frustrating! It's definitely not the map (I would have heard more problems from the 210,000 people who have used this map lol) but I absolutely believe you - there are a lot of issues with mods right now, even mods that have worked for a very long time with no problems. Here is the broken mods and broken assets spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mVFkj_7ij4FLzKs2QJaONNmb9Z-SRqUeG6xFGqEX1ew/edit#gid=141983953

Another thing (easier than that) which can stop trains from coming is if you move a train station using the mod Move It. It breaks the connection. You have to pick up and place down the station and *not* use Move It on it. This also happens to Harbors / ships.

I hope this repairs your issue, or is helpful for your next game.

Nice map but railroads didn't work. Train stations just sit with no traffic. Highway connections work just fine but my industries use the rail a lot so this map is useless to me.

Hey CJ_Terry - nope it was just made up :winter2019joyfultearssnowman: Glad you like it!

I love this map! Kinda reminds me of Marina Bay at Singapore. Did you take that as your inspiration?

That bay is looking a little sus

MrMiyagi  [author] 24 Jun, 2022 @ 2:12pm
Hi Lara, there's nothing in this map that can throw a broken asset error since it uses only default (vanilla) items that come with the game. I'm assuming you're finding this error via Loading Screen Mod?
1. Go to C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Report\LoadingScreenMod
2. Click on the most recent report
3. At the top will be error codes, the one in question will have a link to the asset causing the highway ramp pillar problems. You can unsubscribe from it if you like, but FYI if it says the pillar is just missing, that isn't going to cause your game any problems.

Mr Miyagi…. You‘re a legend…. Thank you so much.
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 May, 2022 @ 1:51pm
Took a look, he's got a decent cliff texture but it does have the ruined texture I described. The more the angle of the rock face, the more likely the cliff shows up. Since the mountains on this map are more soft / low, it makes sense that these themes would show very little rock. So, if you try out Theme Mixer, select "vanilla/default" for *ruined* texture. The Springwood cliffs will magically appear :D
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 May, 2022 @ 1:46pm
Aha, a couple of his themes are designed not to have much of a cliff face, if any. I think I remember Seychelles being like that. It's by design rather than a problem with the theme. Check out some other themes if you like. :)
Troubadixx 10 May, 2022 @ 1:45pm
Hi Mr Miyagi, thanks for your detailed explanation. Just tried the map with the default theme. Looks as it should be. Cliff texture looks fine. Since I do not use Theme Mixer i tried out one of my favorite themes I like to play the map with - Springwood by Ronyx. The described problem appears. Cliff texture is covered with grass. Seems to be an issue with the theme as you said. Is the same problem appearing in your game? Maybe I should play around a bit with theme mixer.
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 May, 2022 @ 12:13pm
Ruined texture shows up on 1. shorelines, 2. on the side of building lots and building edges (that's what a lot of theme creators want to make look better), 3. the spot where props and trees meet the ground, AND 4. the sides of mountains where grass meets the cliff/rock. If we increase the grass on one, we increase it on all of those spots. It's a balancing act.:winter2019surprisedyul:
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 May, 2022 @ 12:08pm
Hi Troubadixx. That has got to be the mod Theme Mixer with a cliff (less likely) and/or ruined texture (more likely) set to a theme that has a particular effect on the cliff/ruined texture. This effect makes the cliff disappear to varying degrees, depending on how the creator set it up, and can make the mountains covered with grass.

To test this theory, in Theme Mixer select vanilla/default for ruined and cliff (or if you're not using Theme Mixer, load your city without any theme - default theme). If this works, then you should select a different texture for ruined. The thing is that there aren't many themes that don't use that technique, because it makes the grass on the side of building lots look much better. It's a trade-off. I hope this blabbing makes sense, let me know if that was it.
Troubadixx 9 May, 2022 @ 11:13pm
@MrMiyagi I really hope you´ll read my comment so long after releasing this wonderful map. Unfortunately my hills are almost completely covered with grass and do not look that brownish dry as in your screenshots. I used different themes but the problem remains. Since Extra landscaping tools does not work properly i can´t "repaint" them. Do you know what the solution fpr this issue could be? Thanks for all your hard work.

Fantastic map!

Thank you
MrMiyagi  [author] 21 Nov, 2021 @ 5:09pm
@Ryan that's the default game limitation. I use a 25 tile unlock mod because 81 tiles modifies a lot of the game code. You will always have to use the 81 tiles mod in order to open that city. 25 tile mods are super simple and safe to unsubscribe from, meaning it won't break your city.
Ats 20 Nov, 2021 @ 6:47pm
81 tile mod ↓
Ryan 20 Nov, 2021 @ 5:36am
It only lets me unlock 9 tiles. How do I unlock more?

MrMiyagi! Just a gorgeous Map! Created My new city on this!
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 Nov, 2021 @ 12:01pm
I always use No Radioactive Desert and More mod because it makes things look realistic again so you don't have a dead landscape all over the place
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 Nov, 2021 @ 12:00pm
Trees and grass died?! Hmm, check the pollution overlay (trash can symbol). In areas that have pollution, the trees and grass die.
johnandrade83 9 Nov, 2021 @ 10:22pm
I've ben with a problem since the beginning in this map. All my trees and grass died. Probably I'm doing something wrong. I already check my sewerage and nothing looks wrong. some tips for this problem?
LemonsterOG 18 Sep, 2021 @ 6:00am
@MrMiyagi -- I figured it out. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. :smileyflag:
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Sep, 2021 @ 11:12am
It helps you identify problems with networks you've subscribed to, even if they aren't on the map yet. Network problems can be hairy sometimes.:hardhat:
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Sep, 2021 @ 11:09am
Hi @LemonsterOG, actually whenever I make vanilla maps, I disable all assets and all mods that aren't specifically for map making and don't interfere with the map file. Also, I've never signed up for Tree Guard [Columbia] because its tris are ridiculous. :D
These are showing up on your report because you have items subscribed that are flagging the tree guard, I assume the Cobblestone Road 3 is the one flagging the missing tree guard, even though it's not placed on the map. This happens with networks, which is a great feature for LSM to offer.
LemonsterOG 17 Sep, 2021 @ 7:20am
@MrMiyagi -- When I load this map, LSM shows 'Tree Guard [Columbia]' as missing. When I review the LSM report, it shows the tree guard is part of the 'Cobblestone Road 3' road asset. It's not listed as a requirement and this is a "vanilla" map. Is that road used on the map or just the tree guard?

Hi, thanks so much for your kind words, @brunoglopes86! I've seen this map in a lot of screenshots. It kind of surprised me since I didn't think it would become popular. I always love to see what people create, so post a screenshot or two of your city if you want! :)
brunoglopes96 5 Sep, 2021 @ 9:53pm
This map still holds up incredibly well. In my honest opinion, it is by far the best vanilla map out there. I use it for my city (which is far from vanilla), and I have nothing but good things to say about it. It is super flexible if you have the 81 tiles mod and allows you to build a super-flat, yet highly realistic city. Definitely recommend it for people who are just starting to play the game or are about to work on their first modded city and want a place where they don't have to care about the topography to work on. My city on this map is almost done and I can really see how much it helped me evolve my detailing work on this game. Thank you!

Tips on how to easily reduce the RAM the computer has to try to load
1) unsubscribing from assets (especially ones with high file size)
2) using Loading Screen Mod which helps compact RAM on many custom assets
3) deactivating DLCs you don't currently want to use
4) on Graphics options menu, reducing texture quality one level lower.

Try one or all of these out, and I hope it helps! :)
MrMiyagi  [author] 24 Aug, 2020 @ 8:59am
Hi @tavares.lussy. It's not the map. It's your computer and save game. I'm 99.99% sure of the answer. You're likely exceeding the RAM limit of your computer. If you're able to, subscribe to the mod Loading Screen Mod and activate it on Content Manager first thing before loading your game. The mod will show you, while the game is loading, just how much you're trying to have your computer load into your RAM. Keep watching the RAM number and immediately before the game loads up, the final RAM number pops up. If you've gone into the red, you're exceeding your RAM. This causes all kinds of problems, and is the number 1 cause of crashes or freezes while trying to save. Happened to me all the time before I started using LSM and reducing my subscribed assets until I was out of the red zone.
GalaxyBrain 23 Aug, 2020 @ 2:23am
When i try to save with this map,the game crashes.
MrMiyagi  [author] 19 Aug, 2020 @ 10:48am
Thanks all! Hey @Azul, you can use ANY map with the 81 tiles mod. There are no special maps for mods... but if you're just talking about how there are mountains surrounding the edges, then yes, I understand what you mean. Terrain tool time! :D
Azul 15 Aug, 2020 @ 10:49am
Amazing map, thank you! I just wish there was an 81 tile version of this.
