Who says balance is good in l4d2 script mods?
✶Don Loco Coco✶ 2 Apr, 2022 @ 1:44pm

BRUH THIS MAGNUM TAKES A LOT OF DAMAGE FEEL'S LIKE HACKING
Wrenny 23 Nov, 2019 @ 1:05pm
it would be great if it did 300 damage rather than 500, it's rather excessive.
mistzy 10 Jun, 2019 @ 6:05pm
Hey just a question. Is it just me or does this have limited ammo? And if yes, could you please make one with the exact same stats but with unlimited or a VERY high reserve ammo limit?

500 x 5 = 2,500 damage per load. So basically, this thing will one shot any special besides possibly a charger, witches, and tanks.

so is there a script to add the scope?

This mod is just a script that alters how the gun works.
Marcos 1 Feb, 2019 @ 8:25am

lol nope. *BOOM*
Lankycide  [author] 12 Jul, 2018 @ 2:12am
Awesomesauce! It's not too complicated, see? And making a game work the way YOU prefer is always nice.
Atomiku 8 Jul, 2018 @ 1:33pm
I just learned how to edit the scripts last night, I made 2 already and published them on the workshop.
Lankycide  [author] 8 Jul, 2018 @ 2:27am
That's what surprised me. it's as easy as editing the weapon_pistol_magnum.txt file, and this is true for most source games. I've done the same to Counter-Strike Source, Half-Life 2, No More Room in Hell, even Cry of Fear which is in Source Gold.
Atomiku 7 Jul, 2018 @ 6:57pm
I want to make a script like this but with a faster reload (for myself, not for workshop) So how would I do that my mans? Just to kinda balance the gun to be equal to your 1911 pistol script. (an equal difference)

Okay so I stared at your comment for a little while trying to figure out how to respond.

Do you know what this mod is? It's a script to change the way the Magnum (Desert Eagle) works in game. Specifically, it turns the Desert Eagle into a 5-round .500 Magnum. So yes, you will, by definition, have only five rounds per magazine. But it will also substantially increase damage, penetration, and accuracy.

Basically, your gun will work entirely different with this script installed. :)
_dysfunction_ 10 Apr, 2018 @ 4:56pm
booooo sorry but boooo all that did was just take ayay some of ma ammo
_dysfunction_ 10 Apr, 2018 @ 4:47pm
dose this work
Lankycide  [author] 12 Feb, 2018 @ 2:21am
@God: The only reason for that would be a conflicting script. Here's a little bit of insight into how scripts are loaded...

So, the host's scripts are the ones that all clients will end up playing with. If you have this script mod installed, but you aren't the host, then the host's scripts will overwrite yours, which is why scripts don't work online.

Also, yes. Conflicting scripts could cause problems. Make sure you only have one mod installed that alters the Desert Eagle. You can make extra sure by checking for any mods with red text inside your in-game addon list.

It was my pleasure, and I'm flattered. xD Thanks for the kind words, and good luck.

Oh ok thats where i went wrong then, I have a program that can decompile .vpk (among other types of games mod files),so i was able to navigate to the .txt file and edit values but i guess the mothod that it recompiled them was missing some sort of Steam signature to make it show as "authorized" by Steam Workshop. I didnt even think to look in the tools folder on Steam its self for the proper .vpk compiler. Thank you for the tips and I will be giving that a try once the Authoring Tools are done installing. Thanks again, its nice to see that there is still mod authors like you that still interact and comunicate with the mod community like they used to in the old days of modding. Cheers :D
Lankycide  [author] 4 Dec, 2017 @ 6:19am
Well, you'll need to extract my mod's .vpk file and edit the weapon's .txt file inside (as I'm sure you already did), but the tricky part is that you'll need to recompile it into a .vpk file by dragging a folder onto a little "vpk.exe" file that appears in your Left 4 Dead 2 install directory after you've installed the Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools in the "Tools" tab of your Steam Library.

It's a bit convoluted and complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it's very useful. I recommend Googling it if you get stuck, or ask me if that fails. I don't mind helping. :)
UDONTU 3 Dec, 2017 @ 12:42pm
I did try to just edit it but when i resave it and make it read only it quits the saying its an unknown mod. then again i did just open it with notepad and change the values but i have no undrstanding of how to comple or edit scripts in a way that steam sees it as a real mod. but ill just deal with it as it is not too bad just something i noticed. Thanks again :D
Lankycide  [author] 3 Dec, 2017 @ 12:21pm
I am glad to hear you like it! :) The reason for the reload glitch seems to be because of certain weapon mods cutting it off too soon, while others don't. I'm not sure why. I'm currently using ones that don't have the issue for most of my weapons, but haven't found one for this gun yet.

Personally, I don't mind the reload animation glitch much, and prefer it because of the slightly faster reload. If you want, you can manually edit my mod after subscribing to it, and reset the reload speed.
UDONTU 1 Dec, 2017 @ 7:53pm
The Reload time is a little fast, it seems to cancel the half empty reload 0.75 of a sec to soon. Other then that love the mod and the damage. The magnum actually feeals like it has a place now thanks to you :D
Aibadenshi-Sensei 16 Nov, 2017 @ 11:11pm
Probably i guess
Lankycide  [author] 16 Nov, 2017 @ 10:15am
Yes, the gun model you're using has only 5 shots, but the one used in Black Ops 3 has 6.

The reason the reload doesn't glitch when the gun has an empty clip is because the Magnum has a longer reload when fully empty.

Do you want me to put the reload speed back to where it was?
Aibadenshi-Sensei 16 Nov, 2017 @ 7:27am
Weird i see only 5 shot on the gun model (currently using it when writing this)
The glitch part make it reload quicker when there still some shot so redo the animation for 1s but didn`t effect the empty clip reload.(for some reason)
Fun fact: the redo animation make me feel abit more clumsy like the survivor didn`t reaload it fully or like the cs:go reload system.
Lankycide  [author] 16 Nov, 2017 @ 7:15am
Fun fact: The actual Annihilator from Black Ops 3 is a 6-shot revolver, not 5. Still, my script fits that model really well. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

That reload glitch happens with some of my scripts, and I know why. I sped up the reload with many of my scripts, and some weapon models don't like that. I think they play their original reload, theh suddenly have to catch up when the faster reload is finished. It only happens with some weapons/mod models though.
Aibadenshi-Sensei 16 Nov, 2017 @ 7:07am
This would be match best with the annihilator pistol from cod:bo3
5 shot that will mostly insta-kill everything and the weapon model got a delay animation through every shot that match the delay on every shot.
(the only thing that glitch out is the reload animation wonder cause the longer reload time)
Wonder is that coincident or something?
The model i use

What? Oh, about the gun? Yeah, a .500 Magnum is just a smidgen more powerful than your usual revolvers. xD Just as an FYI, the power comes at a cost, such as fewer shots and a slower fire rate.
