When this was first being emulated there were some problems with the sprite layering, revealing that the torso sprites had a meaty sawed-off neck completely drawn in.

Maybe the devs played around with some kind of decapitating move, and other extreme cartoon violence before ultimately toning it down.

Yeah they would jump really high lol, it looked devastating.

Haha I played through it on MAME too back in the day, it's the only way I could do it. Same with Mat Mania and Main Event, I needed unlimited quarters lol.

Wow! Thanks for this CaptainHowdy. I spent many quarters on Wrestle War back in 1989. I too had a lot of trouble beating anyone. I did complete Wrestle War on MAME back in the late 90's.

I could never beat anyone on it, I loved playing wrestling games at the Arcade but I was always bad at them.

Nice. I was hoping someone would make these. This game used to give me blisters.
