MOD looks good, but I have note for History. Colliers were respected persons in medieval times. Their social status decreases during 16th and lately 19th century.

In 14th and 15th century, colliers had very special status and privilegies. For example in Bohemia, they have freed from lots of taxes and fees, they have privilegy to wear a weapon (sword) in all cities in Bohemia. Colliers guild in Bohemia were one of the oldes guild.

Decline of the colliers became in 16th century, when they privilegies were gradually canceled. Degradation of colliers finished in 19th century with changes in metallurgy processes. With new fuel - black coal, there were no need for charcoal.

Update. Fixed mod again. Reduced crafting time on charcoal and increased charcoal output.

That certainly would look very nice. I didn't try this mod before 0.7 so i have no idea how it looked before. But I noticed a number of smoke effekts with other mod, which look quite different to what they were like in 0.6, like the steam engines from peaceman, as an example.
Why and how did Keen change this kind of visual effects?
But besides of this, I'm happy that the collier mod is working again. I think it's a great and nice mod for producing charcoal and again it gives more variety to the medieval world - thanks to you.

Sure no worries. Just wish i could get the thick black smoke back like i used to have it. I watched many videos of colliers and it was very smokey and dirty work.

Ok found the problem. I had planks instead of plank. I also noticed the interior is bright yellow, which means it is a .64 texture. I am gonna change that texture then i will upload the fix.

Ok, I just tried it and it's the same as before.
I'll go and try it in a clean map with nothing but your mod loaded. I suspect there might be an other mod getting in the way. Thank you for your help. :)

Just for your information: I placed one of those burners in creative and removed it with a hammer and all what came out was dirt and sticks - strange...

Or should it be right to build that charcoal burner only with dirt and sticks?

Hi, one question:
I just tried to build that charcoal burner. Placed it to the ground, in the log it says: 50 dirt and 14 sticks are needed. But when I try to build it, it says: "unknown component missing"...
Any idea?

Update- Fixed it so you can craft the charcoal. Sounds like a campfire and doesnt smoke like i want it to but it works with no errors. I also added a new retexture to chopping block not sure what happened there. I also added when you chop the log the sticks appear on top of the log.

This mod is unfortunatly still broke. I had it working during the public test then when i uploaded it things went wrong with audio and effect definitions.

First of all this is am abselut grate Mod. Grate worke

I've discoverd an smal Bug with the charcoal Pit IT self, if you place anderen build IT with the hammer IT dosn't sem to gerne any kind of interaction Point, surprisingly if you place it in an crative Mode way IT geht's the interaction Point.

Sory for the bad english but i'm No native speaker, i Hope ist's clear enough to understand for you

further testing... could interract with the Collier now, but when the recipe finishes, it deletes everything, nothing appears in output slots. Wondering if another conflict with the re:stack mod for items stacking to 50 across the board might be another culprit.

Ok, I was having the same issue as PLayer1 for accessing the Collier in survival, placing this mod above Placable Water mod worked to fix.. wierd that it would conflict with This.

also - looking back to my comment i totally forgot - its dedicated multiplayer and to my shame i didnt ever try the burner in singleplayer.

I used this is survial mode in my map. I have no issues. I am sorry you are having issues but If i cant reproduce any problems then I cant fix it.

also, i hope this helps to find the issue: i was only able to access the inventory of the burner by placing it via medieval master. building it the regular survival way it had no function at all

I used bonfire code added construction made it a large block with smoke effect instead of fire. I mean this should work i have made way more complex models then this. I have no idea why it's doing this. I'm about to report his as a bug.

once again a mod of yours im starting to love - just for the looks would almost be enough. sadly i gotta say that i had the same issue as hicks building and using the charcoal burner in a survival world with water mod. using the medieval master i placed one and was able to use it but further down the comments i read about an output slot for the coal - mine is missing that. tried a reload, didnt help. it "smelts" its 7 inventory slots of lumber and then has no lumber in the crafting inventory again but gives no coal =(

i might point out since it occoured to me that you might think I do not have a key bound for inventory access on structures. This is not the case. it is quite literally the - key. Anyhow Like your stuff be better if it was amalgamated into a single mod or at least packs of things from the same era/culture Be well thanks for you work.

Watch the whole video. My binding shouldn't matter. For the record i pressed f as well. The one built in survival mode Never had an inventory prompt.

ok when you first spawned that collier i seen click - to access inventory then you took it apart and put it back together and it didnt say that anymore. Why do you not have F as access your inventory?

Hi i just tested the water mod with collier first in creative and then switched over to survival. i had no issues with opening inventory. I am not sure how it is not working on your end.

I cannot acertain the truth of that but I shall load one up without the wm and see. Perhaps the issue lies in some setting on my end. Will repost with result.

That is strange. I have tried the creative and survival version and dont have this issue. So somehow the water mod must be causing this.

The inventory is towards the top and you kind need to be close i. i dont have a blender file for this it was on my last pc that broke. I cant adjust it to be accessed further.

Update-Corrected Smoke not working. Upon request added research, you will now learn the collier when you learn smelting(Seems equal). Also collier is now a fuel component. It now requires materials to light the logs to make the charcoal. Hope this balances this mod more thanks.

Making charcoal in a pile of dirt is Still how the majority of the world does the job. The more advanced ways are akin to cracking a walnut with a CnC Mill though, overcomplicating a ancient process. However, No fuel requirement for the most energy rich fuel in the game 4 steps earlier than you could normally learn it is quite the game changer. Personally? I'd put it in there with the weapons step that asks you to build the bronze or iron sword and make it be fueled by a single log for the entire run or perhaps instead make it something you have to Deconstruct after it is Done to get the content. IE. Build it with x planks y scrap wood and z logs then after run time deconstruct it for z charcoal... that way you could omit the fuel requirement because the 'balance cost' is paid in the planks and such you Don't get refunded. Again than you for your work, it IS appreciated.

Thanks Hicks. I am not sure what you mean about the balance. I feel like coal is a primitive feature and should not have to be researched. I can make some research it would probably make more sense to be right when you can make planks since it is a ingredient. if i make it and further then I feel it is not primitive anymore.

I like this mod because it presents the proper model for charcoal production infastructure for the era. However the balance for survival mode is borked. Having it attatched to a research line and some fuel cost (I understand the principle quite well and the raw material input is what provides the fuel) to mitigate the fact that you don't spend some hours stacking wood before burying it with a giant pile of dirt. Love to have this on my server but the balance issue stymies that. Love your work btw if for nothing else than it functions and fits into the game nicely. Thanks for sharing your work.
