Yeah, I never got around to it as I uninstalled the modding application I used a year or more ago. It sounds like you know what you are talking about though! If I ever reinstall the modding application I will absolutely try to apply your proposed solution to this issue.

If you want to do a quick update, here's the fix:
Under db\technology_nodes_tables, find the table
ikko_main_military_node_018_teppo_mastery and set the value of "tier" to 0. That's it.
The technology availability is there for the Otomo as well, but it looks broken. I simply wont use the mod when playing Otomo.

Thank you for your impressive work ! I'm new making mods and I'm wondering why I can't play matchlock earlier by changing building_level_required_technology_junctions and unit_required_technology_junctions from teppo_mastery into heaven_and_sea .It seems okay but doesn't work ( actually you can see matchlock is avilable in both heaven_and_sea and teppo_mastery in tech tree, but nothing changed except descreption ). I looked up many mods for help but I failed:steamsad: I would appreciate it a lot if you may help me how to do right.

This doesn't work for Otomo, as they still need the powder maker to make Matchlock Ashigaru

I can attempt to rework it to work for the ships and Matchlock Samurai, if it makes this mod better. It functions as the mod name implies.

Well, was thinking that with this mod I could have some matchlock at T15/20 so I researched this tech then made the tier 1 gunpowder building to create it. Nope, can't. Got to research "fire attack" tech then I can have gunpowder tier 2 building and so create those matchlocks. Well, that's kinda useless then

Yeah, I tried removing the technology requirement but as we can borh agree, that effort was in vain. This workaround seems to be thw only way to do it, unless you know another way :steamhappy:

Thats...CLEVER actually. The main problem plaguing modders is that Matchlocks are too far down the tech tree, but the tech to unit junction cannot be deleted by modding. Moving the tech is really smart.
