3D-Coat is very powerful tool, but I love Substance Painter. And for artworks I make brushes and masks. I think, it more professional, but i endless thanks for Coridium, beecause without him I'd don't start to make skins :D

@Hexeth - Oh me too. I dont use 3D coat - but I used his video to understand the process to replicate in another program, but also observe how making a skin is a process of going forwards and backwards making adjustments until it feels right overall.
Hexeth 25 Sep, 2017 @ 5:48pm
Honey, you right! I started by Coridium's method too :D But now I have a method development by myself, without Coridium's lessons :)
Hexeth 25 Sep, 2017 @ 5:46pm
beautiful work
The Honey Badger  [author] 25 Sep, 2017 @ 5:44pm
Thanks all.

@Coconut - Everyone learns from someone else. I'm still learning myself and make errors! If Coridium had not made his video I wouldn't have had a clue about the process or had the confidence to give it a go myself, so all credit to him. Thanks for the kind words!

Awesome job :D

You may not read this but, I love the work that you do and I hope you keep up the awesome style in skinning! You and Coridium are my inspirations to start skinning ever since I was in high school. Just know the pieces you make are great inspiration to others and those around you; keep at it!
The Honey Badger  [author] 25 Sep, 2017 @ 2:03pm
@Nanobyte - I thought about this, but didnt at this point. The thought I had was 'will a normal map add anything to this specific execution' -- its not a finish that is boosted by material choice - it looks like a vinyl wrap. I could add a generic surface roughness to mimic plastic, or maybe raise the illustration outline edges, but as a novelty skin didn't think it would add value. Thats not to say I wont add one later!
Nanobyte 25 Sep, 2017 @ 1:31pm
Can you add normal map? :csgoanarchist:
Rei_Vi 25 Sep, 2017 @ 1:12pm
Ok, Thanks. Also glad to see your Llama Cannon finally made it in.
The Honey Badger  [author] 25 Sep, 2017 @ 1:11pm
@Trentius_ - That's normal, mask out those areas then paint them in manually. Projecting 2d images onto unwrapped 3D models is a bit of a bodge, there is not quick fix.. you just have to fix as you go until it is right.

Sweet!

Hey awesome new skin the name is kind of comedic but I have been working on a new skin and as you are an expert I was wondering if you could please offer any suggestions? I am trying to render a 2d image onto a 3d model in Blender but I keep getting dead zones on the tops and sides, do you know any methods to avoid this? Previously I was able to fill in the blanks but the Desert Eagle model is a pain to work with in Blender, messed UVs and all.
morde 25 Sep, 2017 @ 11:44am
love the name
