A simple portal fling will get you past the turrets, but killing with the laser is probably more fun Thanks for playing:)

I almost quit at the end because I couldn't figure out how to take out the turrets with the laser.

I just tested and it worked fine for me, you could try the remake instead if you wanted, the main puzzle is the same

Hi x_syre_x, ok the pit I gave you is definatly not deep enough for that stratergy to work (at least I hope its not:) Your looking for a special flinging trick that you probably havent used before to give you some more height. You dont have to fire 2 portals in mid air, landing 1 shoud be enough.
Hint: Have you ever noticed that you can move sideways (ie strafe) whilst flying through the air?

Ok so I'm not as good as everyone else and definitely not a gamer. I'm using a laptop so its hard to flick the touchpad to put a portal real fast in one part while doing a continuous loop. I can see the way out of the first room but I can't seem to get up there after putting the cube on the other button at the beginning. Any hint or walk through? lol. Would be appreciated. Maybe I'm missing something. I did the loop, then used the angle panel to other side and quickly put two portals there but every time I come out I hit the window, if I miss the window, I'm still not high enough to angle a portal up top near the exit of room 1.

OK, did have a look at doing the flip panel thing just now,But the in game editer wont let me use pedistal buttons as simple switches, they are always connected to a timer. I can set the timer to infinate, but when you do that you get an anoying ticking sound effect that plays untill you finish the map. I've yet to work out if/how the sound effect can be turned off. I still think a remake woud be much easier at this point, I'm just too close to the item limit.

I don't want to insist but... if you could had a single flip panel (visible through the grating you already have there) that we could activate (pedestal) once inside the last part (turrets), it would be easy to go back for the cubes and return. By the way, I really like the hole in the floor to regain the companion from the first room. And of course, your map, your choice!

For the last turrets, I stacked the 3 cubes on the left corner to get on the top shelf and kick the top one's.

Glad you enjoyed it:) I'm not sure what you mean about using the blocks to get the turrets. How exactly did you kill them? I intended a fling to get past them (ie. using gravity), Mood3rd discovered the lasers could be used to kill them (That was quite fun, so I left it in)
The jumping was meant to be a little frustating,but very possible, changing it now would be difficult because I'm pretty much at the item limit. I was considering a remake of the laserfunnel puzzle in a 1 room map, that way I could easily take away the fustration (if I ever get around to it that is :)
Lastly, yeah I thought about adding cube buttons to the exit room. But If you mess up and lose your portal in the turret room, you would have to do the bridge jumping again "NOOOO!!!" lol

Hi chrishrly! A really satisfying laser/funnel puzzle to set up with the cubes! One of mine as a similar idea, if you could take a look.
I used the cubes to get the last turrets .
And finished with my new friends .
If I may: the only part that almost made me quit, was the jumping between light bridges!!! If you want, you could change the layout and add gratting between each jump, thus avoiding frustration.[/url]

Glad you enjoyed it :) I intended a little trouble with the bridges, in hope it would make it more satisfying to complete. The third time crossing is also meant to be free :) . Personally I think my solution to the turrets is more elegant, but yours is equally fun. I'll probably leave it in. Im pretty sure I have one of your maps on my list, will get to it asap. Thanks for the feedback

very very good laser / funel puzzle :)
had trouble with light bridge timing / jumping.
but quick saved after crossing the 3, the 1st time.
3rd time crossing the 3, I went along the off light bridges, where they jut out from the wall.
corridors could have been less long. (you owe me some virtual shoe leather :) )
I presume getting past the turrets, was supposed to be a fling.
using the area above & below the panel between the 1st room & laser / funel room.

but as you can see by my screenshots, I take no prisoners.
& no man or cube, is left behind :)

OK, I made a second update. Should not be possible to sneak past the turrets now, synced laserfields have been added in the laserfunnel room, and to make life a little bit easier the stairs are also now stationary.

Thanks for the feedback mood3rd, will possibly add a couple of synced laserfields to the laserfunnel side. The stairs are syncronised to the fizzler between the two sides.

Stop 'thinking with portals' and start 'thinking with blocks'

That was one of the most difficult puzzles I've come across in a long time, especially the lasers & funnels part. Man. Fun to finally figure out. Also, I just snuck past the turrets (I got close to the wall so they couldn't see me), so, not sure what the angled panel was for. Probably flinging? I didn't think of that til now--that would have been fun had I thought of it. Great work, thanks!

it would be good to see the area with the light bridges & laser fields,
from the area with the 2 lasers & 3 funels.(at the same time)
I was back & fouth trying to remember the cause & effect.
but bad memory makes this very difficult.
I think I have to connect a laser to a laser catcher by portals.
then during proccess of going up stairs, accross light bridges & through laser fields.
fire a portal that breaks the laser connection & allows me to proceed.
i know you sincronised the 2 sets of 3 light bridges, to help us.
but I can't see the stairs & laser fields from the other area.

I will keep this map in my list & play some other time.
but will have to start from scratch.

The bridges are quite tricky. Had to figure it out for half an hour to get this. But it felt good to clear it.

Thanks to everyone who playtested, have just updated. Signage issues in the first puzzle have been fixed and an unintended solution removed :)

That was the nicest surprise I had in a while. Innovative and challenging. Excellent work. I moaned about the missing connections at one point while thinking how to proceed but then I understood why it's better to have it that way when I got the idea. It's rare that I get the feeling that I have accomplished something when finishing a chamber. Yours did the trick and had me walking through the exit with a grin. Great chamber. Thanks for mapping.

Very unique and challenging puzzle that had me stumped for about an hour. This is the first test I've seen use this concept! The bridge part was a little tricky, but I don't mind a little bit of execution. Keep up the good work!

I didnt get the connections of the buttons, laser catcher, but challenging ideas
