Tried it and it's okay. I'm guessing you wanted a sniper rifle vibe?

•The sprite looks nice, but it's way too big.

•Personal preference: The long range makes it annoying to aim, just bugs me when I aim and my character isn't on the screen anymore. You could use something like 600 or 700 and it would still be plenty to hit anything in sight.

•Personal preference: I'd make it a semi-auto pistol, increase the magazine, and let it fire faster so we can PEW! PEW! with it. I like to think of it as a rapid fire laser blaster, rather than a sniper.

•Wish I could give more input, but lasers are kinda buggy right now.
