Detect Skills spell

Be warned: This mod doesn't just detect skills--it *determines* the skills and *then* detects them. That is to say it has its own skills settings built-in and will override your other mods' skills settings. Took me forever to figure out that this was the "race mod" that was conflicting with Requiem.

As well you can chose what kind of follower you want to have depending on your game player.
LIke if your theif or assisn you dont want a 2handed warrior follower you around. This would be realy bad for sneaking.Other exsample would if your a mage you would want a warrior so they could take most of the damage wile you sit back casting spells.Have this spell will tell you what your follower is good. This way you can deside if you want them or not.

@doerayme_fasolatido: hey dude! The dear author mentioned one use for it in the description: "[...to] check the stats and skills of my followers to give them the gear they would be best skilled to use..."
The_Fadle©️™ 7 Apr, 2012 @ 1:06pm
can someone explane?
The_Fadle©️™ 7 Apr, 2012 @ 1:05pm
why do you need to look at a persons skills?
Gumbus 20 Mar, 2012 @ 1:28am
Works well, but the fact that the panels are slightly different sizes is a pain for clicking through them (allowing another button like E to progress would also work).
xXxMCNP_SlayerxXx 16 Mar, 2012 @ 8:05pm
@Z0011 You can buy it from the court wizard in Dragonsreach.
Z0011 12 Mar, 2012 @ 5:43pm

Captn Gore 23 Feb, 2012 @ 10:25pm

SidewalkOfPain 22 Feb, 2012 @ 8:58am
Simple, yet elegant, and also extremely useful. Thank you.
Dovah 22 Feb, 2012 @ 12:03am
If you could modify this to make it detect deseases too that would be awsome.(to see if someones a wearwolf or vampire etc.)
southpaw 21 Feb, 2012 @ 7:30pm
nice idea :)
Tom Trustworthy 21 Feb, 2012 @ 7:06pm
Uhh could you add a 'helm' type item that looks like a Scouter from DBZ? Then make the tooltip say 'check power level'.
Then throw an ifstatement in there for when its over 9000.

:P used this mod a few times so far in game and i love it!
Vis 21 Feb, 2012 @ 6:03pm
Brilliant idea, flawless execution + the name is good too!

If you are pushing for a rename... kill yourself.
Sean Connery 21 Feb, 2012 @ 5:40pm
This doesn't conflict with follower mods, does it?
The Bored Briton 21 Feb, 2012 @ 4:38pm
i think its great, all these idiots refering name changes are just looking for something to complain about and have offered really shit replacement names. If you are looking to change the spells name here are my suggestions (not that i believe that its a note worthy issue)
Detect Ability

Smash 21 Feb, 2012 @ 3:00pm
You could rename it "Evaluate". Or Spell: Evaluate. Since it incorporates more than just skills...
Goremonger 21 Feb, 2012 @ 2:40pm
To those who said the mod didn't work (just the animation and no stats) well, I had the same problem. Just a simple uninstall and then reinstall with NMM and it works super fine.
James Hazard 21 Feb, 2012 @ 1:46pm
now just need to make a character named Vegeta, quickly mod him a little pink doohicky over his eye and start screaming IT'S OVER 9000!
njassja 21 Feb, 2012 @ 12:16pm

Crabcake 21 Feb, 2012 @ 12:10pm
What is their power level? Let me use detect skills... OVER 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Becof 21 Feb, 2012 @ 11:26am
You should name it "Scan" as in Final Fantasy =) Would be easier for me to understand the meaning then =P Unless u rename it, how do i rename it myself in Creation Kit? =}
BE4R 21 Feb, 2012 @ 10:43am

Smash 20 Feb, 2012 @ 8:06pm
This is a great addition to the game, very useful tool. Thank you for this mod. I am wondering if there is a way to detect abilities/perks? I mainly use this with followers, some of whom seem to have perks. That and maybe magic resistance of creatures. Just suggestions, otherwise this mod is fantastic. Thanks again.
josss9 20 Feb, 2012 @ 2:19pm

R3Bourne47 19 Feb, 2012 @ 11:46pm
oh, ok, thanks for clearing up that this is also meant for hostile npcs :).. Might make a similar mod to make it part of companion dialogue options :P... Your mod is my inspiration hehe :D
dactylroot 19 Feb, 2012 @ 10:42pm
Great idea!
Ghanjo  [author] 19 Feb, 2012 @ 11:41am
@Everyone that likes it: Great, I'm glad you guys like it and find it usefull.
@mangue: I would like to put all the info in one screen, but I havent found a way to do any formatting of the text in the message box. I had to choose between three message boxes that gave a good overview, or one message box that looked messy, so I choose the three box option. If I find a way of formatting the text in the message box, I'll put it all in one box.
@melbourne47: Since this is also meant to work on hostile NPCs, I think I prefer to keep this as a spell.
@Pasurojiti: I think it is more like an alteration spell. When I started working on the mod, I put it in the illusion school (it was named Mind Probe), but I changed it to alteration because I think it has more in common with Detect Life spell type than it has with fear, fury, calm and courage.
Ghanjo  [author] 19 Feb, 2012 @ 11:40am
@Duff: All mages in the different jarls castles should sell the spell book. Of the mages in Winterhold, only Tolfdir sells it, since he is the alteration guy. If you can't find him, it's probably because he went to that excavation site at the beginning of the mage questline. If the spellbook vendors don't have the spellbook, it is probably because you visited them recently. Wait 48 hours for them to restock.
I'll look into the blur problem you mention. Is it correct that you get the message box just after casting, and the blur only shows up afterwards? On my computer, it takes around half a second for the message box to pop up, which means that the blurry image is the background for the info boxes. I put it in there as a visual effect for showing that using magic to look into someone blurs your vision, or something like that.
