Question for players: Is this too much food? Does the extra income growth improve gameplay? I haven't tested it much, but if its too much I will make a mod that reduces it a little.
Xarthras 3 Jun, 2022 @ 10:02am
It provides too much food. How f. e. "Military Port" could be source of extra food?
HK-77 27 Sep, 2021 @ 6:24am
I just knew others thought that a seafood nation like Japan relying on rice farming for food was dumb. Thanks for the mod. Exactly as the base game should have been.
Der Griecher 9 Feb, 2021 @ 2:39pm
Ashina is this mod save game compatable also can it be used in co-op campaign ?
AbatedFawn 1 Feb, 2021 @ 4:55pm
@SaiyanStrike image sailing halfway across the world and be the one to provide food. They would have very little left I imagine.
hastatus 15 Dec, 2020 @ 9:55pm
Sounds good, but I would love to see a separate branch of buildings dedicated to fishing: 2-3 levels. Gib more food and grant some extra replenishment and growts but less recruitment slots and poorer variety of ships to build. Sorta like they did in in Empire total war.
真実に清く生きたい 6 May, 2020 @ 12:17pm
quite realitic like ROME2: Total War, extremely useful. i mean that the port produces food.
thx.
on the other side, food is an important economic element in this version of Total War, we players have to decide building whether higher level castles nor markets,
agree with the point on dry docks. a military and industry institution should not produce too much food like more than trading port.
thx a lot for your work

@ AbatedFawn, this of it as having food provided by the portuguese traders. In exchange for the introduction of christion belief to your land. At least, this is how I imagine it. It can be pretty convincing to be convinced with a full belly.
Ashina  [author] 19 Jan, 2020 @ 11:51pm
Despite being able to build Nanban Ships, they're not a military port, due to only having 1 recruitment slot, and the other use of Nanban port is that it could support more trade than Drydocks.

Plus you can only build 1 of them.
AbatedFawn 19 Jan, 2020 @ 11:47pm
So why is a nanban port giving you more than a dry dock. That makes no sense.
Ashina  [author] 19 Jan, 2020 @ 11:44pm
No
Dry Docks role is a extremely strong ship producing naval port like Heavy Bune and O Ataka Bune.
Having 2 Food is already a gift in this mod.
AbatedFawn 19 Jan, 2020 @ 11:27pm
Could you please make Drydock give 3 food instead of 2?

THANKS GOD NOW THERE WONT BE REVOLUTIONS IN MY CAMPAIN

Also quick edit, since I'm sure someone might misunderstand if they don't exactly get what I'm saying. I do like and think this is a sensible mod, it's just a bit op. And when I say perhaps dropping the food for a military port back to 1 food, that doesn't mean drydock will also only provide 1 food, that should provide 2 food. It's just that logically speaking, if you turn a trade port into a military one, than it shouldn't be producing the same amount of money or food. Yes the port got bigger, but it's costs also increased since it became more militarized. A drydock is just a bigger military port, but we can argue that efficiency went up, and so costs equalized leading to as much food production as the old trade port.

Generally it's a good idea to balance things out over how they benefit the campaign. So your granaries added some additional options to balance out how bad food consumption can get. However adding this means you should make it so that it gets balanced somewhere, perhaps have it to where castles at the highest lvls cost more food. Generally speaking I can write a whole list of things that could make Shogun 2 better (hell most people can think of at least a couple things that need changing). I think your mods make the game better, they make sense, but they should also be balanced somewhere, perhaps an alternate version that's the "balanced" version could be made.
DarkRite 3 Dec, 2018 @ 1:58pm
Personally I like this, but can see a few problems, namely that since you gave us granaries (which does make building markets in some provinces really viable), this would mean that I can have markets in every province, and upgraded castles. However as I said, I like your mods, I just think this should be less op. Perhaps 0 food for coastal village, 1 food for lvls 2, and 3, and 2 food for lvls 4, and 5, with +1 for the Nanban Quarter. Perhaps have it to where military port drops back to 1 food.

Could you make a similar mod also for "rise of samurai" I think that the Japanese had fish at that time too

Nice. :steamhappy:

Thing is now I have to choose between Granaries and a market chain that feeds me strategic resources
[-TMI-] Tom Bombadil 5 Nov, 2017 @ 7:31am
@Ashina
Downloaded it last night and already started a new campaign with it.
Ashina  [author] 4 Nov, 2017 @ 8:45pm
@Tom
I already beat you in the market chain.Search for Granary Mod,and You will find my mod.
[-TMI-] Tom Bombadil 4 Nov, 2017 @ 6:44pm
@yellowcar
I agree this is quite overpowered economically speaking, but might I ask why you are proposing to use the extra food to build merchant guilds when the food surplus buff to growth is enough on its own?
For my own purposes I made a mod for myself that added food to the market chain upgrades so that their net effect on food was always 0. This isn't necessarily overpowered, it just makes the market chain viable in the first place, beyond the first level.

@yellowcar I play this game to have fun. Sometimes I want to have fun by just being OP and other times I want to have fun by having a real challange. Thats why its so nice that is easy to enable and disable the mods on launch.

Not every mode has to be big and complex and fully standalone blanced. Simple mods like this gem do simple things are really useful for players like me who want to be able to quickly create a customized expirence.
yellowcar 13 Oct, 2017 @ 10:51am
@Ashina
First of all having +2 or +3 food per region than normal is a big thing as it allows the construction of merchant guilds (+20 growth and 1000 wealth) even rice exchanges can be a boom to your economy if you really think ports should produce food go ahead and play the game with the mod but VH/VH autists like me will dislike it because it makes the game very easy at least campaign wise

I dunno how you can balance landlocked clans maybe a magical +1 or +2 food bonus depending on their size but that is unrealistic

Also I suggest you make coastal villages produce no food 100 gold is too cheap for 1 extra food

Dragon maids are an interesting thing, aren't they? They scare me....
Ashina  [author] 13 Oct, 2017 @ 7:22am
@yellowcar
meh,a Province with max farm upgrade with a Drydock would have at max of 6 Food,but if you're reffering to Clans that don't have port,well,that's sad for them.
but if you have an Idea on how to balance this mod,I could take the inspiration.
yellowcar 13 Oct, 2017 @ 6:19am
too OP you need to balance the whole game to make this fair
mos4567 10 Oct, 2017 @ 7:49pm
Nice job. Works well Thank you

how i install it ?
Economic Terrorist 5 Oct, 2017 @ 4:08pm
You know. Given that fishing is a huge part of Japanese culture, you'd think ports would already produce food.
Ashina  [author] 3 Oct, 2017 @ 8:10am
@Azmael
#OtomoLivesMatters,plus you can only build one Nanban Ports,so to avoid any easy spam,and making going christian super a little more enticing.
And the Nanban prioritize on Trade,Trade = More Ships,More Ships = More Fishing fleet,More Fishing fleet = More Food.
Jimmy 3 Oct, 2017 @ 8:07am
Good point @Ashina
But im curious...why level 4 Military Port and Drydock only got 2 Food? But the foreign ports produce more?
I think it would feel more fair to bump them to at least 3 sushi as not to deprive loyal japanese players of extra food. :squirtyay:

@Azmael
it's true that now castle can has 7 Food(4 from farms,and 3 from Granary Line),but remember that the Granary line is for Late Game,since it gives so little Money,but gives more in long run(due to it's food,and Surrender Time).
But the only thing that bother me most in this game is how Ports isn't so Economically important ingame,the only economic thing that they can do is that +2 Growth,Trading,and Trade Ship(if you're even close to a Trade nodes),also I see a Pattern of Tokugawa,and Oda Players not upgrading their ports due to the money problem(since those clans need to be very military focus),by the time the Oda/Tokugawa Finally win the battle,and ready to strike again,other clan would have level 3/4 castles,especially looking at you Kiso Clan.

For Short this Mod actually helps the "Bushido Type" Players to survive,since you need The first Farming arts to have level 3 castles.
Jimmy 2 Oct, 2017 @ 6:39pm
Well Ashina already has an addon that makes markets give tons of food supply. I played on the extended provinces mod with his food surplus and you can have max level castles everywhere and no problem.
The_Yogi 2 Oct, 2017 @ 3:52pm
This is actually a good idea, because the AI loves spamming large castles that gobbles up too much food.
Jimmy 2 Oct, 2017 @ 3:36am
You just love massive games with tons of KOKU to spend on armies <3 Love it
And thx for your mods :OhNoBlue:
