can you make it so that Legions can build improvements after upgrading them?

Will this disable the road building promotion?

Allrighty :). I can't run any of those games (I have an 8 years old windows XP), but I'm planning to get XCOM2 when I get around to buying a new one (I played xcom:apocalypse when I was like 8). I'm already looking forward to seeing your work there :D

I'm currently focused on Beyond Earth; and also XCOM2 (when it's released) since that'll now utilize the Steam Workshop as well. :)

@Barathor you are entirely correct, the phalanx is an entirely different setup. I really love your mods and the quality they offer, are you modding for any other communities at the moment or did you stop modding alltogether?

*sigh* (This is why I'm glad I don't mod Civ 5 anymore... everybody is a history expert and/or they want things to be over realistic and less abstract at the cost of gameplay and balance.)

Google "testudo formation". It's Roman.
The Roman testudo and the Greek phalanx are both famous types of shield wall formations. The testudo was a tactic primarily used against missle fire, hence the promotion in this mod.

This mod doesn't seem to be working for me... I enabled it, but nothing changes. What's wrong?

I wan't to make a similar mod that instead of ranged cover gives straight up a defensive bonus when adjacent to another unit, can you or anybody else help me make this?

this mod is really great

Are you able to still get cover via normal unit promotion (so the testudo + cover1 = 48% more cover)

I know it's been a while, but the icon is done. I sent you a PM on CivFanatics, did you receive it?
The icon is an upturned tower shield, quite distinguishable at small icon size for its rectangular shape.

Sure, you can give it a shot if you like; thank you!

Though, the upturned shield alone may be hard to distinguish at the small promotion icon size and might just look like a crescent. I'm thinking maybe using two shields may be a good representation: one forward facing with the upturned one above it (angled, three dimensional view). That, or two pairs of that side by side. Though, that may be squeezing too much into an icon that is meant to be very small.

Even a simple straight view of a roman tower shield, with the details minimized, would be a nice flavorful addition, instead of using the game's default shield icons.

Hey Barathor, would you like me to try and make an icon for this promotion? Basically an upturned legionnaire shield, but all gold and metallic like the icons for vanilla promotions?

One would think that a legion would get a 'first strike' attack. Perhaps when created, the legion has this promotion?

@Barathor, Is there any way for you to apply the Impi Javelin throw before battle to the Legion? I know you like the idea of a 'tankish' unit, but historically the legions where a offensive unit that threw the pilla before engaging in battle with other factions infantry. It would be a nice change from the two (x2) 'tankish' style mods you already have for them.

I always wanted to play as rome and stop at that era, so i added a mod for that but since "wealth" was not researched yet i was forced to continue building units and buildings until i could no more. then i found another mod that gives you "wealth" at that time so i was able to play longer games all i needed was something like this. Can't wait to try it. thank you in advance

This is great, I wanted to make this myself.
