Might be a conflict with another mod?
in the db section there are tables campaign_tree_type_cultures_tables, campaign_tree_types_tables and campaign_tree_variants_tables
These seem like they are have the values responsible for how vegetation looks in regions owned by various factions - so with the mod we get green grass and dead trees all over the map.
And yep, the launcher is pretty quirky (to put it mildly). I hope the new one works better. I haven't tried it, but at least it looks promising on screenshots...
Apparently CA's launcher was trolling me because despite both showing the mod as enabled and also giving me that warning every time I start the game, that explicitly listed that mod as enabled, it did not actually enable it.
When I switched to using Kaedrin's Mod Manager everything just started working - both this mod and one other that I was having problems with.
Sorry for wasting your time on this - did not expect CA's launcher to bug out like that. I've had a ton of issues with it (in fact I dropped the game for half a year specifically because it kept screwing with my mods so much I realized I spend more time troubleshooting than actually playing), but this case was a on a new level. Previously it would just either abruptly delete the mods or disable them without warning, but not just ignore 2 out of a bunch for no apparent reason.
Could you do me one last favour and try with only this mod enabled, all others disabled, just to see if you can get it to work?
Also, do you have any "movie" mods? That is, mods that you have manually popped in your Warhammer directory that aren't downloaded through Steam Workshop.

You simply must have another mod that overrides the changes from this one. Would you be able to tell me which ones you're running?
It doesn't require a new campaign, it's "save compatible" with immediate effect.
Forest of Arden owned by me (Barrow Legion) at 40% and Lyonesse at 68%. and compared to untainted Couronne to north
Is the visual effect (or rather lack of it) from the mod, supposed to kick in as soon as savegame is loaded with it active? Or did it have to be on since start of campaign.
(testing together with 'no local populace' mod and that works fine.
I am play as Barrow Legion, conquering Brettonia and am noticing everything dry up while the land is green and lush immediately past my borders.
At one point during the game, TW2 launcher deleted all mods from the Data folder and than kept lying about them still being there. I manually copied them back, and the other mods seem to be working, but not this one.
... it does not remove any "standard" terrain effects from volcanic regions and such.
