I was very confused at the nerfs to the character's offensive capabilities (especially the crits on Holy Lance), and then I saw that Inspiring Cry gives a speed buff. Holy crap.

@Tassadar yup but i'd suggest some kind of good start mod that removes reynauld's sticky fingers. I tend to do that whenever i start a new campaign.

As another comparison Option 1 (current state) allows a dedicated Crusader healer to compete with Vestal so long as he continously uses Battle Heal (the first use would be weaker and if he stops healing or stress healing the chain is broken, the buff does not stack). A Vestal without good healing trinkets anyway. Option 2 means he cannot as easily compete with the vestal in raw healing but alternating between the two skills would give him a potentially higher heal every other turn (or forsake the chain to apply focused healing or stress healing if desparetly needed)

I have an alterative to Battle Heal and Inspiring Cry. Instead of a single turn buff to both one would buff the other. As it is now you can take one or the other and freely swap between healing health or stress while buffing to compete closely with the Vestal and Jester (although the jester's inspiring tune is still notably better) In this second option You would equip both and use Battle Heal to significantly buff next turn's Inspiring Cry and vice versa. The dynamic here is bigger heals when using both skills in tandem, but having to alternate between the skills instead of focusing somewhat smaller heals for what you need. Option 1 is more versatile, but option 2 allows crafty players to make the Crusader into an even more formidable support healer at the cost of that ease of use and versatility. Let me know what you all think.

Fixed an issue where Crusader's self healing buffs would apply to the skill on the same turn.

@Hollowacid Great to hear that! I just got back into the swing of modding and plan to touch up every LHH mod before finally progressing. I'd love feedback on V1.6 of the Crusader. I am worried that this might make it more difficult to get critical heals on the Crusader so I may remove it or add a small heal received buff as well. Let me know if any issues come up ladies and gents!

Trying this mod today. I will give feedback!! The crusader is my favorite character but at the same time he is the worst tank IMO. Let's see if this can fix him up. :praisesun:

Nope. Doesn't need it imo. Maybe change the self mark to 3-5 rounds instead of all battle. There's always the new Block mechanic in Shieldbreaker's Serpent sway but don't think any frontliners but the really squishy dancing Shieldbreaker need it. Besides near half damage all battle is still good.

He's the first one i modded as my personal favorite. A big reason i started was because, like you said, many mods weirdly overpower him. The only change I'm still lightly considering is reducing Zealous unholy Acc bonus to 10, 10, 10, 15, 15 or ever having it target ~23. So i really appreciate the praise, Deus Vult!

I've tried several mods that modify/balance the crusader, and this is the best one so far!

Adds more of a reason to use him, and improves his ability to support a group. Thankfully, unlike some of the other mods, it doesn't get carried away and make him awkwardly OP.

Well after many hours of trial and error fueled by research and topped with a great video on modding camping skills by Maester Silvio, I've concluded that modifying individual vanilla camping skills simply can't be done without removing all other camping skills or preventing compatibility with other individual hero camping mods. The exception is new classes who can make their own camping skill json file. Looks like I'll have to release a full camp skill rebalance mod on its own later on, which is fine by me. Just limits the pick and choose what you like idea I'm going for by having each hero mod seperate. Back to work!

My mistake. The Camping Skill update was premature, it caused a rather big problem that I overlooked. My appologies. I will figure this out.

@generaldurandal Also after trying it I can confirm your suggestion of .02, etc. also works for PROT values. That makes sense since 2%=.02. Didn't mean to shut you down or anything pal! Made some hefty changes to the new version so check it out if you like!

@generaldurandal i also found that in initial attempts. Adding a % after the number fixed that. According to the game's UI and my admittedly short amount of testing it should function as intended. Although with a lack of a good, accessible debugger i can't test the numbers perfectly or quickly ( maybe someone here knows a debugger i can use for DD? ). In any case it seems the correct 2-10% is working and not the wonky 80%. I added % signs to my description post to clarify my exact inputs. Thank you for your concern and time! And if anyone does notice crusader tanking way too well I'll take a more critical look at it!

Having any number in the PROT of an armor shoots it up to the max of 80.
Even 1 will do it.
Try 0.x when doing that stuff.
I didn't try it myself, instead just gave him slighty more armor.

Armor and PROT are very similer.
At least as far as I can tell,
PROT is a full damage reductuion, so 80 = 80% less damage.
Where as Armor works difrently.
Probobly % based to, but, has a chance to not work?
PROT is better that is for sure.
