I always end up fighting with the tiny river in your starting square, the caveman in me wants to master the nature, the world, but the river fights back, not letting itself be tamed.
That river is my enemy, my arch nemesis, yet it also provides me with water and sewage disposal, nurtures me.

I like this map.

Hi @ella, it's absolutely impossible for a map (especially a vanilla map) to do that to a game. There are a number of possibilities that could cause this. All of them but one involve using things from the Workshop like assets and mods.
It's very hard for me to be able to diagnose your issue from here. You can help me narrow things down by describing what happens / what you see when things go wrong. For example the game hangs then crashes, buildings in an area flicker like crazy when you are at a certain distance, error messages like "Null Object Reference" which don't allow you to play the game at all... things like this. So can you tell me what happens to you?
I hope I can help you get back to enjoying the game! :)

I love this map but it seems to corrupt my save eventually, is there any way to fix this?
MrMiyagi  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 2:58pm
Hi norwegicus, you have to double check your connections to the highways. Check to see if an off or on ramp to the highway is accidentally backwards. The cars have to be able to get on as well as off the highways on both directions. That's pretty much the reason why you get that happening.
norwegicus 23 Mar, 2022 @ 12:48pm
No cars on the motorways and no one is moving in on this map for me.

@i like italy hi - I wanted a glacial river, so I found a nice example in the real world. I forget where that was now, but it was in North America. Then I imported the heightmap and did a lot of changes. The river was a real pain to do
MrMiyagi  [author] 21 Feb, 2022 @ 5:40am
Hi @CosmicFurFace. The line across the river is just so you have a nice bridge that matches the highway bridge that's also nice and even. This isn't possible if you aren't using mods (this is a vanilla map, so it's designed so people who don't use mods can have a nice map). Railroad tracks and roads (at least back when the map was made) make a large bump when crossing water, which doesn't look right for a railroad.
The reason the other line ends early is to "make them work for it" ;) There's not much in this map that limits your options but where you expand to will make differences in how your city pans out. Makes it replayable, too
Kaj 20 Feb, 2022 @ 11:16am
Hey man love this map just wondering if there is an area you based it on?
CosmicFurFace 18 Feb, 2022 @ 10:30pm
Just curious: Is it intended that one of the two train lines terminating in the start square is not connected to anything? It goes northeast to the highway, follows it east across the river, then just ends. (Mountains are west.) Also the eastern train line (of two) entering from the south edge terminates abruptly SW of the start square.

Not that that detracts from the map! I'm just wondering if your intention was for the player to connect that southern-sourced line to the start-square line, then continue it once one builds east of the river.

I continue to be amazed at what you and the other modders are capable of.

Hi, it's definitely not the map. This is a default map, so it's impossible, but I probably know the reason for your crash. 90% chance you are using too much RAM and will have to unsubscribe from some Workshop assets (buildings, trees, roads for example).

How to easily find out what's up without any computer knowledge: Loading Screen Mod is a safe mod that, while your game is loading, shows you how much RAM you're using and any other errors with assets as well. Watch while the game loads. If the RAM goes into the red, that's your cause of the crashes.

The other 10% would be a mod issue. Unsub from the most recent mods you've subscribed to, restart the game.
LawAbidingServant 23 Nov, 2021 @ 3:54am
This map crashes the game upon start, any idea why?
MrMiyagi  [author] 12 Nov, 2021 @ 12:37pm
Cool! I'm glad it helped - I hope you have a fun time with the game!

@MrM Wow. ok, never knew to use the loading screen mod in that way, AMAZING. Had the game a while but im still a total noob. I went ahead and fixed or removed an failed assets. at this point, it must be some random conflict between a mod and a vanilla something. the sun still rises and there are plenty of amazing maps to play . ( a lot of them yours )
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Nov, 2021 @ 1:27pm
Missing assets won't cause a problem, but your failed assets - you need to find them, which is easy if you use the built in system of LSM. Go to C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Report\LoadingScreenMod Open the most recent one, it will open a web page. Click on the name of the failed asset, which should be a hyperlink. It takes you to the workshop page you need :) Unsubscribe, all done!
1Nf@MOu$( Mr.Thorp ) 8 Nov, 2021 @ 4:58pm
some vanilla maps have the lot lines gone( including this one) some not, same with custom. I can not for the life of me figure out which mod or asset as I have had the same ones forever. Re: loading screen mod- I have some Failed assets, I cant not find them in my subscribed list, nor the workshop itself. I have a fair amount of missing assets. but those also cant seem to be looked up or un subbed.
MrMiyagi  [author] 4 Nov, 2021 @ 1:08pm
Hi there, there's something else going on that doesn't have to do with the map, which I can say with absolute certainty since this is a vanilla map. Now, trying to figure out what is going on could be a very difficult task, and I am not well-versed but I can give you a starting point. Perhaps a workshop asset you placed in the new city but didn't use in other cities is causing your decals or decal LODs to disappear. If you use Loading Screen Mod, check for assets with errors about the LOD textures being non standard size. Weird, but it was a problem for me. Delete that asset and any other with red-coded errors.

In my case, I asked the creator to redo the asset with standard size LOD textures and they did! Really nice. Now I can use the asset and I don't have assets disappearing or turning black once they're at a distance. I hope it's as easy as this
1Nf@MOu$( Mr.Thorp ) 4 Nov, 2021 @ 9:34am
o noticed when i load this, parking lot lines are missing from custom assets as well as vanilla. i probably went extreme, uninstalled entire game and mods/assets. reinstalled, re subbed. still the same issue. parking lot lines DO appear on other maps. Any idea on how to fix? I laid out a gorgeous little starter town and Id hate to just toss it out. I just cant overlook the parking lot lines.

Thank you so so much for this AMAZING map!!! It's exactly what I was searching for!!
MrMiyagi  [author] 15 Jun, 2021 @ 12:43pm
If you're still around @Crimson, I remembered what it was in my case. It was actually caused by an asset (which isn't common). The LOD texture size was not standard. You can check to see if you have such an asset by using Loading Screen Mod and checking its output for asset errors. See LSM's page to learn where to find the LSM output report. VERY handy mod!

4x of each transport connected, so 4x rail connections :hardhat:
axelanius 15 Jun, 2021 @ 8:56am
no railway connection?
MrMiyagi  [author] 7 Jan, 2021 @ 8:42am
Hiya, that's definitely an issue caused by a mod, but I can't remember which one did that. :/ It's been a long time.
Crimson 5 Jan, 2021 @ 11:24pm
im having troubles with trees popping in and out of existence on my screen, along with the roads. is there any way i can fix this?

Hey @rush'n , it's cool to know I've reached up to that part of the world! This map might look a bit like the rivers of your region I imagine.
Cool @mr.ѵ !!

Hi Oddible, ah yes, a lot of maps that have challenging terrain will be difficult for any beginner. That's why I make some maps specifically for beginners that have lots of helpful parts designed into them so that your city is sure to get a strong and easy start, and still have some nice hills in the background.

Here's Newbie Harbor - it would be easier than this map for sure. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1903141654

Vanilla Coast is also made to be an easier map for a beginner. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1130118928

I hope those help you out!
Oddible 30 May, 2020 @ 1:54pm
As a relative newcomer to C:S, maps like this that jam me into a corner so tight at the start are very confusing. I assume something like this is meant to be played in an unlimited money mode or something as even building a bridge to have enough space for anything leaves me with no money.

I'm glad you had a lot of fun on this, sleevie! :)

I wanted to drop a note to say I've thoroughly enjoyed developing a "county" comprised of several small cities and towns using this map as my canvas for the last ~18 months. The terrain was very usable with an 81 tile mod and the mountains that would have otherwise only existed for scenery provided lots of little nooks to place hidden villages. Very nice work. I'll check out some of your other offerings.
giantflamingo_ 10 Feb, 2020 @ 1:01pm
I think the billabong thingy ruins it a bit.
