Damascus Steel. The earliest form of nanotechnology.
Nick Naughty 23 Nov, 2014 @ 3:45am
This is true ebony armor, because ebony is a wood as hard as metal.
BullBars1 24 Aug, 2014 @ 7:59am
I'd like to see a set of Steel Armor with the Imerial gauntlets and shin boots or Iron armor with the cuffed boots and gauntlets in the same color and texture added to go with the weapons.
Your Wife's Boyfriend 9 Jun, 2014 @ 2:25pm
is that a wood-grain texture i see on the armor? how very curious.
Jared 7 Jun, 2014 @ 7:51am
Can you not upgrade the armor?
Yamashita 30 May, 2014 @ 10:44pm
i just found out that you can't enchant the shield after its been upgraded please fix this
Yamashita 30 May, 2014 @ 2:33pm
there is no doubt that this armour looks good but being an elf i gotta keep nimble so the light really helps but an ancient nord sword? the pattern is great but can you please change it to an elven sword it would be much more fitting for the damascus pattern
Griede Starless 8 Mar, 2014 @ 11:45pm
only requests i can make to this beutiful set of armor are-
can you make it temporable?
and, while i do LOVE the black and silver look, is it possible to get this in dark red with the same texture and trim?
again, this armor is very beuatiful, please keep up the good work.
uraniumbravo 20 Feb, 2014 @ 3:48pm
Pattern welded nowadays.. alot of the time is made by using large steel cable too.
Wandering Stackmaster 11 Aug, 2013 @ 12:20pm
Without the ability to temper the armor I am not finding it very useful. I would appreciate it if you fix that, or I will just switch to Stahlrim ASAP.
The Bats Shadow 30 Jul, 2013 @ 4:24am
Cool texture for ebony armor.
Wcblokhoudertje 26 Jul, 2013 @ 8:15am
Let me enlighten some of you Damascus, was a collection name for a type of steel that was made from a wide range of metals, de layers you see are different types of steel with differnt carbon and cobalt contents within them therefore they color differently, also with the help of oxidation.
The reason why they did this: the material they had available were not close to as pure as we have available now, and folding the steel also helps to purify it, by folding it many times you have thinner layers and this gave the steel a remarkable quality as the highcarbon steel that was in the blade made for a superb cutting edge as the lower carbon content steel gave it increase flexibility.

This is still done nowadays by master Smiths, and although the paterns and matyerials might be a tad different the techniques differ very little
I hope I made some of you smile and perhaps gave them something to look into, as smithing has an amazing history!

Yours sincerely Ruud
klayven 20 Jul, 2013 @ 12:31am
Actually, I was under the impression that this (pattern welded steel) was not Damascus. Damascus was simply a very high carbon-content steel with a natural grain effect, the exact forging techniques for which ARE still lost, and NOT simply folded pattern-weld steel.

Nice mod tho. Subscribing.
coby 17 Jul, 2013 @ 2:13pm
Though I'm not going to download (I would, but I look for armor that is meshed and textured completely new; I get tired of the original armor asthetics after a while.) The detail is astonishing. Keep up the great work!
mgunner2001 22 Jun, 2013 @ 8:19pm
K this mod is really nice gives a guy a break from the plain ol plain ol. But there is only one problem that I have found and that once you make the armor set you can't tempor it to make it better. you Can temper the swoard and the shield but not any of the armor. if you could fix that would be awsome.. Thanks
Onryo 25 May, 2013 @ 9:20pm
To look nice? A retexture isnt a bad thing. Have you ever gotten armor and went "Hmm this would look nice if it looked like (Description here)" Its to change things up and what not. You should cut the guy a brake. If you dont like how it looks dont get it.
Incelsior 20 May, 2013 @ 2:43pm
well just sayin because you are not the only person in the world and remind me what are comments.. im sure they are just a way of talking about stuff. but really whats the point of the mod
Onryo 19 May, 2013 @ 3:37pm
Very nice work. But I can assure you the method for makeing damascus is not lost. Its jsut very hard to do. It requiers forge weldind your ingots togeather and folding as well as cutting the steel. You can actly minupulate the patter of the steel with verious methos such as shaveing minute ammounts off the steel in verious spots then continueing to work the steel. Ask around in the smithing communitys and you can find out quite a good deal about it.

But nice work replacateing the fold patterns.
yvan 18 May, 2013 @ 11:38pm
C‘est personnel , mais je trouves bien . Je serais incapable de faire la même chose
PACMAN  [author] 18 May, 2013 @ 3:29pm
yes its a stupid mod,
i tell you a secred
you realy dont need to download it :-)
Incelsior 12 May, 2013 @ 7:27pm
stupid mod just re textured ebony armor and nord hero sords
yvan 6 May, 2013 @ 8:35am
J‘adore . Elle superbe cette armure
BirdUp 3 May, 2013 @ 9:42am
Thank you for the mod KVGR :)

I smithed and improved the whole light armor set, the shield, and the sword. I have all smithing perks on the left side (light armor perks) up to and including dragon smithing.

I don't think though that my sword improvement is improving it as much as it can. Maybe the armor too... they're all legendary but sword damage is much worse than what an ebony sword can be improved to (if one has ebony perk).
SolomonsGrave 2 May, 2013 @ 7:24pm
I am a blacksmith I make blades Damascus is not a lost art the name just changed it is now called pattern welded steel its just two different carbon content steels fused n folded till you have however many layers you want it is difficult to make and yes all Damascus is acid etched
the acid reacts at a different rate for each of the two materials making some dark like 1095 steel n some shiny like 15n20 its only valuable for its looks you get better strength n resiliance in a blade by using a leaf spring from a car but at $100 per square inch ill keep making it :]
r.helmick 4 Apr, 2013 @ 9:01am
To people arguing about whether Damascus Steel can actually be remade: who cares? I say this because modern looking Damascus steel is a product of chemical etching. The old type was not! Just because someone claims it is real does not make it so. Also, judging by the expertise demonstrated by the author, I will defer to his judgement. also, arguing on the internet is like drinking alone. even if you get drunk you are still a loser. :}
JallBuggler 10 Mar, 2013 @ 9:17am
u sir r a fan of ebony armor
morepugs 9 Mar, 2013 @ 4:29am
exellent mod please further update to include two handed weapons if you think it would be a good idea
jojarich 6 Mar, 2013 @ 5:29am
to all the haters, lets see yur badass historical armor mod... this is good work 123 i appreciate what you've done here, but i do agree the smithing requirements are a little wierd, wish it was in steel... i can understand tho, keeps u from bein able to craft till yur nicely leveled.... keep it up friend.... :)
Kristen 27 Feb, 2013 @ 2:52am
@ Everybody who's arguing. Hey! This is a great mod in any light! The rest of us really enjoy it and probably don't want this commenting area ruined by people who disagree. People are always going to disagree until the day they die. So, please, stop arguing and let's all befriend each other again?
NullCult 8 Feb, 2013 @ 7:56am
This is pretty cool, I only wish I could use Damascus metal to make more weapons (I'm more into Axes then swords).
Balisan 27 Jan, 2013 @ 6:36pm
@stuartmchgh People might CLAIM they know to make it, but they probably don't. It can LOOK like Damascus steel, if one simply pattern-welds a few pieces of metal together. It's a common practice. There are so many different people out there who claim they know how to make it, yet use vastly different formulas and folding techniques, that I've come not to trust any of them.
Regardless, Damascus steel would actually be below today's standards, and would barely compare to modern pattern welded steels, or even just plain steel. There's no point in trying to remake it, as its standard has long been surpassed.
The next and, currently, perhaps the only step up from plain, pure steel is amorphous steel. Amorphous metals are like their normal counterparts, but have a more glass-like lattice. They look like their normal counterparts, but are significantly stronger, and perhaps sharper.
stuartmchgh 24 Jan, 2013 @ 2:53pm
um...people still know how to make demascus steel. i have many hunting knives made from it. plus my brother is a RL blacksmith and he makes and uses it all the time.
PACMAN  [author] 21 Jan, 2013 @ 1:37pm
yes sure you are,
you are the smartest living man on earth,
oh what am i saying
you the fucking smartest man of the universe and of all the parallel universes

but that all plays only in your brain :-)
Tenzino47 20 Jan, 2013 @ 5:55pm
i dont know but im guessing im smarter than u bro
Genius Gate 15 Jan, 2013 @ 2:54pm
The heavy version doesn't appear as upgradeable at all. The light version does. Could be a mod conflict on my end and I'll look into it but I have every smithing perk. The light version doesn't appear to be affected by my smithing perks, and the heavy version is non existant in the upgrade menu.
PACMAN  [author] 15 Jan, 2013 @ 10:27am
but it is upgradeable
if use the heavy version you need the ebony perk to upgrade
if you use the light version you need the dragon scale perk
Genius Gate 13 Jan, 2013 @ 6:47pm
Quality reskin job on the armor and sword, and worth downloading just for that. My only gripe is that the heavy version isn't upgradeable at all. Maybe you can attatch it to be affected by a perk? I'd love to use this to be on par with the ebony armor I already use, or even superior to statwise.
Gillespie [29th ID] 12 Jan, 2013 @ 12:07pm
Okay.
PACMAN  [author] 12 Jan, 2013 @ 11:13am
yes i know that but i decided to leave them as they are,
so other people can see how smart he is :-)
Gillespie [29th ID] 12 Jan, 2013 @ 8:58am
@123 You do know that you can delete other peoples posts? (I'm talking about Tenzdawgzz's posts.)
PACMAN  [author] 12 Jan, 2013 @ 7:16am
@72 Mavrick
i add a picture when i am about to impove the shield
as you can see it works by me.
Maybe you don´t have the arcane black smithing perk?
72 Mavrick 12 Jan, 2013 @ 7:00am
Sheild shows up now. Still can't improve any. I have gone with the appearal and the ingot. It doesn't show up on the list at the table.
Ezra 12 Jan, 2013 @ 1:01am
Nice mod. Textures are really good! But I disagree that not so simple but still STEEL armor can be better than ebony and even dragonscale. Hundreds of different steel layers can't make simple steel better than legendary dragonscales! Your armor stats hardly fucks up TES Lore and this is only one mistake in this mod. With exception of crazy reqs for smithing. Where's logic in that? Why heavy armor in Ebony (80 smithing for perk), but Light one in Dragon (100 !!!)? Looks like discrimination by armor type... Why shield needs arcane smithing? All this brilliant armor set should be packed into ONE category (daedric or Ebony for example and ofc. with arcane requirement). As you can see, I have nothing against your retexturing, it's awesome, but you should do somehing with smithing, 'coz it's really bad.
