The ship smoothly fall of because the whips rotor thruster manager works that way. Due to game limitation any VTOL ship that uses the whips script can't still stand mid air.
@Troy didn't tested the ship since yesterday patch, what I know for sure is that the more your rig is good the more the platform is stable since physics play a great role and you need an average to good of to not have strange behaviour
@Captain_Shadowblade then watch the video, no need to build a platform
@everybody thanks guys :)
It's all but difficult, it may be tricky but not difficult.

What I did:
Found a lake into a earth like planet, pasted the blueprint at 100mt from surface. Got control of the ship, landed.
Locked the landing gears (button 2 on quickbar 1)
Unlocked
Ship completely stuck.
Then tried to shut off/on gears, dampeners on/off whatever... ship was stuck
Saved the game (with ship landed and landing gear on but unlocked).
Exit
Reloaded the world file, The ship was not stuck anymore.
So it's not a matter of what's wrong with the ship but I think is something related on multiple grid safelocked that have a landing gear locking on a voxel.
I hope KSH will look at it.
For now the solution is simply:
A) Not locking the ship, just find a flat area, land and dampeners off
B) Reload the game if you are stuck on the terrain with landing gears unlocked.
All the main action can be done via buttons in the hangar.
Orange button's on the hangar depressurize it and get off the crane to the land
Blue buttons rise the arm, close the hangar and re-pressurize it.
Yellow buttons: You can (at your own risk) open the basement of the platform to allow a small ship to join the hangar instead of the rover I've published aside this ship. If you are going to touch them and the rover is on the platform = a mess.
Red button force unlock the side doors of the hangar when the hangar is depressurized.
Gray buttons are for opening and closing the hangar w/o using the crane
Beside of that, each button has it's own instruction in the gazillion of lcd's closer to them...
What you didn't get at glance?
@Jake Rainer, no problem Jake I'm not perfect (nor is this game). The ship wasn't meant to be used in multiplayer and I've stated it in my"background" description. I can't replicate the bug about that front left rotor landing gear. I'm sorry, I've found different bug in the past and they simply disappeared once pasted the ship on a brand new world save. I'm not asking to you to do the same, but since "for now" you are alone whith that bug. You can do 2 things.
1) Delete that rotor and gear, make both brand new ones stick them to the appropriate timer as they were before and see if it's fixed.
2) Put a dozen of mines inside the hangar setting a 30 sec timer before it's explosion just to let you leave the ship before the fireworks.
Honestly I will go for option number 2 :) /love /peace
sorry about all the bugs im finding i dont mean to discourage you from making more ships i just think i should let you know about all the bugs so you can fix them while they are fresh
