Awesome mod. Root feels like an organic extension of the swamp. I just wish the townwall would be completed. With mods to make animals stronger the town gets regularily depopulated.

This was great. Around day 27 I had to take a 20k bounty from the Hub to the UC and figured the best direction was south through the swamp. I ran into Root.. not to be confused with Rot to the west. I must say I was able to supply up and find a new squad mate to carry the crippled White-Eyebrow bounty for me. I managed to make it to the Slave Traders to collect having only save scummed about eleven times and nerfing the bloodspiders. I'll visit there again!

She's present in mod's files, but has no place of spawn. She seems just absent in current version of the mod.

Can you please fix the Lady Pagni, she's nowhere to find, checked mods files, she has no place of living, not attached to any squads or buildings like any other character.

Played the mod, quite liked (was the same bug with a locked house (but I already know from experience how to bypass such shit)
So, what to do next? I found the location of Krabi and Noriaki, but Noriaki himself does not have any dialog branches about Pagni's wife, where to find her? I searched the whole town, there's nothing in it.

This is really good but I would recommend adding a few more swampers for protection. In its current form there are too few of them and they all/almost all were sitting on the turrets around town which lead to a silly situation where a gang walked into the town, picked up the fight with the guards and slowly beat them one by one as they were all locked to turrets trying to snipe and usually with no LOS.

Reducing a number of turrets or adding like 4 well stated swampers (or possibly designating some swampers to a gate guard duty, as far as I understand it keeps people from using turrets and fixes them in a spot?) would help defend the city.

My noble bastard of Bast finds Lord Pagni very relatable, thank you for what looks to be a great addition to the game world. I've already enjoyed your writing a lot just doing the introductory conversations with everyone. 3 more skilled recruits will also come in handy once we find the slavers that took my daughter (Child mod's story quest).

LOL "One century later....", no prob tho. What's school? I step on all the spiders i see. I've since stopped playing tho but from what i remember even tho the door was locked up and shut the whole town just kept screaming about blood spiders and when ballistic over nothing. The challenge was good, just checked it to make sure it was how it was suppose to be. I did like the town tho, until half my squad got beat up in the bar there cause i wasn't paying attention :P

@Shyzle Sorry to be slow getting back to you. A blood spider nest can spawn upwards of 3,000 baby mutant deathropods, which you would know if you A) watched the documentary or, B) went to school. Of course, I didn't add that many in this mod because I'm not as cruel as nature... yet, but I flatter myself that I'm getting there. From a gameplay design perspective, I wanted to create a unique challenge: it's pretty easy to keep your own people from dying in big fights, but it's quite difficult to protect and keep track of NPCs. There are lots of choke points in Root, so with the right positioning and a little luck, the player can control the fight.

Did you add the blood spiders to the old ruin? If so, is there suppose to be enough of them in there to wipe out the entire town of Root plus some? I Opened the door and there were atleast over 80 of them in there. Also my nest setting is only set to default, 1. This was also shortly after an import.

@Babok3k3 Thank you. I spent a little while making all the paths work. As for Pagni's place, I don't know why it's locking 24/7. I suspect it might be conflicting with another mod. It seems to work fine in some cases, and in others—you're right—it's like they're hiding from the rona. Smart! That's why Pagni is a survivor.

It appears I already did what you recommended, haha! I was looking to import a bunch of new mods, and once I did, I decided to go for another trade run and check up on Root on the way. Surprise - the town was alive and semi-well, defending against a smaller bunch of spiders, as usual before its demise. The old ruin always seemed suspicious, so I went and picked the lock, discovering a metric ton of the buggers. Here's to hoping I can master my blades before another outbreak begins. Or find some napalm.

Ultimately, in my experience, Kenshi is a "warts and all" game. One plays it in spite of if not for the bugs. If Root has been wiped out, I recommend importing a save that has one of your squads located in Root. If you still encounter bugs... er... arachnids, try buying the ancient ruin before you import.

@Fahrräder I think you could encounter this issue whether you were a new or old player! There are sometimes a whole heap of blood spiders in Root because (spoiler alert) the ancient ruin for purchase is teeming with baby blood spiders and their mother . I wanted to try implement a challenge that I think is largely absent from Kenshi: to preserve content by forcing the player to protect (and/or rescue) NPCs. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it ends horribly. Sometimes, by accident, the blood spiders find their way out of the ruin before the player buys the ancient ruin . I have troubleshooted the various errors that have been reported and fixed those that I could reproduce.

Hi! I'm a relatively new player. Root is such a great town that stands out so much in a good way. But at one point en route to collect resources for my Shem base, I noticed a SWARM of blood spiders attacking citizens, and obviously my trade runners weren't prepared to help fend off the infestation (neither was the rest of my team). A few days later, Root was a Swamp Ruin. Please tell me, is there some timer or a world state change I missed? It's such a shame I will never see the fates of the town's Lord and other people resolved properly.

No I haven't tried your other mod, but now that you've mentioned it I definitely will. I'm poking around the Construction Set myself and I completed 2 very basic starts that I plan on uploading; "The Smuggler" and "The Guarded Smuggler." You can probably guess what they're like.

I'm happy to learn that you hope to mod more on Kenshi 2 but you should probably know that, I believe it was in a Reddit AMA, one of the devs said that because of the code/engine they were using, modding may be impossible or at least harder than it is on Kenshi 1.

I think I can find out how dialogue works myself now that I've gotten in the Construction Set.

Sure, @hazardly. Let's chat. I didn't use a tutorial; I figured it out through trial and error. I'm not sure I could guide you through it without re-learning it myself, but I can offer some direction.

I probably won't make another mod for Kenshi 1 because I don't think the Forgotten Construction Set will support the things I want to do even to complete New Towns: Root. I hope to do more with Kenshi 2. Have you tried my other mod, Heft Re-imagined? It doesn't have significant new NPCs, but it makes Heft heftier.

I love this mod. I haven't gotten to Drifter's Last yet, but the characters' personalities and dialogue is great. Would you mind giving me the rough process you went through to make the NPC's and their dialogue? Or a link to a tutorial would be nice since I can't find one. I really hope you make another town mod like this.

Root is a cool town and awesome mod! Thank you for making it.

When I first got to town, I found Ellin immediately and recruited her. We took one step on our way to look for Lyf and were attacked by two sets of hounds. Lots of people were injured in this attack, and I couldn’t find him anywhere. Also, we looked for bodies of humans and found none.

So, I was wondering if he is always in town or a certain building or maybe what does he look like? ...hope he isn’t dead.

@everybody I've been thinking about adding to New Towns: Root—a few new items, a swamp monster, Shek strippers, the usual stuff. But I'm a busy lad, you know, so I want to run a couple questions by you to make sure I won't be throwing my ideas into the breeze. 1. Are you even playing Kenshi anymore? 2.
