I'm actually working on that rn XD
For me to build an all-purpose bridge would be very hard to acomplish, as the bridge would most likely only work in the situation in which I built it. If I built it over a shallow ravine, the bridge would only work for the shallow ravine, not between two mountains. (maybe I'll eventually build a series of bridges, but for now I've got my TerraTech project queue full)
To get steam techs, simply subscribe to any that look cool (like mine ;D) in the workshop, then while in game click the "load tech" button (located at the bottom left corner of the screen, inbetween the 'anchor' and 'return to checkpoint' buttons), then click the "steam" tab on the top. All of your subscribed items will pop up, and all you need to do is select one and click "load tech".

Sure I could, it'd just be hard to maneuver it into position. The purpose of the runway was to be able to easily maneuver multiple of them to create large elevated landing/takeoff strips.
