Very good job, daloboy! I am GLaD, to finally see you escaping here =^.^=
If you want a bigger challange, jump over the water, press the ninja-button and see, how you can open the way to the exit then :)

Wow! I think I had this one in my list for the longest time! I had tried it but had no a clue! When I understood that the angle was no right, after many attemps, I finaly got it! My solution ! The title helped! Good work!
Please test another one of mine and comment! Thanks.
Rei  [author] 27 Jan, 2013 @ 11:11am
buff00n: 100% intended. The math of the angle sadly lets connect only two of the lasers in the slide. It was such a great Idea and I tested sooo much, but as I found out, I was so sorry about that by myself.
Glad you had so much fun *smile*
buff00n 26 Jan, 2013 @ 6:09pm
I didn't figure out the ninja solution, but the intended solution had me laughing out loud.

Unfortunately it didn't quite work for me. Depending on where I placed the portals, the angled light bridge was either too high for the first laser or too low for the third one. I ended up placing it in the too high position, quickly running down it and holding cube down to the side to break the first laser, then letting the cube slide into the other two.
Rei  [author] 25 Jan, 2013 @ 9:32am
@mood3rd: you're welcome :)
@Ebbzylon: for your first run, trying the ninja way, you found out, that the highest laser is protected by a glass wall. I thought, you now should have the idea, that the cube has to come from the other side - instead you broke my portal record, making me become big eyes first!
Now I wonder, if you are able to discover the ninja-way of " Back from Infinity "! (It wasn't created intentionally first, but as soon I found that solution around the final puzzle, I made it "intended")
Happy Weekend!

Reiman & Ebbzylon thankyou
Ebbzylon 24 Jan, 2013 @ 1:30pm
Probably because the intended Ninja way is much harder to see, while 'our' alternate Ninja way was right there. I know the feeling. It is the 'map creator syndrom'. The solution we have in mind when we design the map seems obvious. I'm ending up making maps that are too complex because I think my puzzle is too easy and I keep adding this and that extra step! :-P

The first thing the player sees as a result of pushing the "Ninja button" is the loss of usability of the lightbridge. So, we start thinking about a solution w/o that, but still only using what is in sight :-S I went up in the back rooms (when working on the regular solution) only to conclude they were placed there to distract us away from the intended solution, cuz it was dark and I could not see much in there. Now that I know there is something to do with those rooms, I might go back to have a look.

cheers
Rei  [author] 24 Jan, 2013 @ 12:18pm
thanks Ebbzylon! ^_^ got perfect timing with the door, isn't it?
Great job mood3rd for being able executing that solution, but guys, I don't know why you put so much energy in jumping and running with all three lasers, as I think of the ninja way being easier than the intended. When all is prepared right, I just need one jump to get the door open and stay relaxed in time ... so have fun, thinking it over! ^_^
cheers!
Ebbzylon 23 Jan, 2013 @ 4:28pm
@Reiman
Sweet. Nice solution.

@mood3rd
Nice execution. That's what I was trying to do myself, but was always failing to cut two lasers that way, so I ended up doing my slight variation. :-)
mood3rd 23 Jan, 2013 @ 2:58pm
I see you exploit is solved. great :)
I also managed to do the ninja, after many atempts.
I spread the speed gel between the angled panel & the button.
I did not have the panel at an angle.
I placed a portal on the same panel.
another portal near where we placed the light bridge.
then run with the cube across speed gel, through portals &
disrupted the lasers.
then used both gels, to quickly get to exit & escape :)
Rei  [author] 23 Jan, 2013 @ 1:52pm
Okay ... my mind was burning and nearly in pieces - I had to give up to get the final idea, even withouth the laser field! Please play again and comment, Ebbzylon ^_^

(humming to a known melody)
Now these points of Data make a beautyful line, Slippy Dip is out of beta and released in time!
Now I'm GLaD, I got burned, in this chamber I have learned, from the people who are with me 2n8!
I am so happy and you two are neat!
I now go quiet and peaceful to bed!
I will have dreams of lasers and cubes!
Good N8!
Good N8!
mood3rd 23 Jan, 2013 @ 1:45pm
questionmark-points ?
how do I see, without lighting ?
it was a fluke that the panel opened.
I could have been walking into goo, for all I knew.
sorry to hear you are still having trouble with the exploit.
the key is to right click the door & tick the box to make the door start shut.
then connect as many switches in whatever way you like to make your map work, as before.
good luck :)
Ebbzylon 23 Jan, 2013 @ 1:31pm
@Reiman,

Once that new cube sits on its plate, it should never respawns unless you quick load, right? Which means the laser field would only be activated for the first few seconds when you first enter the room or whenever you quick load the level? At least, that's what I thought would happen. :-S But without testing it in the editor, I'm probably missing some side effect. Sorry!
Rei  [author] 23 Jan, 2013 @ 1:05pm
phew ... it's so difficult to work on that, as the exploit is only working, when uploaded!
Give up on that for today.
Rei  [author] 23 Jan, 2013 @ 11:36am
Hi Ebbzylon and mood3rd, I tried both, the solution with the laser and a construction with an additional funnel-with-laserfield-mechanism. Problem stays with the laser, as the trigger is inverted. And the laser field stays on, as long the door is open, meaning, no one can go through the open door, once it's open regularely. I'll now try a different solution with more not-gates from my BEEMOD.
mood3rd: yes, that's the area. If you are able to reach there, make sure you walked over both questionmark-points on each 'hidden room' behind the scene and you pressed the ninja button. And thanks, but I don't wish lightning in my ninja-path :)
To be continued after updating...
mood3rd 23 Jan, 2013 @ 10:36am
ps.
have you had time to attempt the exit update sollution I suggested yet ?
mood3rd 23 Jan, 2013 @ 10:35am
do you mean this area:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=122370998
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=122371066
as I said, I am to slow.
but can get up here, to find closed panels, that I presume interupting the lasers open.
you could do with more lighting up here.
Ebbzylon 22 Jan, 2013 @ 1:55pm
@Reiman
After reading the recent discussion between you and mood3rd, I tried the map again to see if you had fixed the exploit. I see it is still there.

If you have problems applying mood3rd suggestion, I thought of another way to prevent it (I think it should work, though I did not test the idea):

Place a laser field just in front of the exit (so noone can save while being behind it), and have the laser field be disabled by a similar mechanism (cube dropper + funnel + pressure plate). This way, even though the door will start open, the laser field will start activated. You'll need to test to make sure that this cube also respawns on quick load (might need to have its spawn action being linked to a laser like the others, for it to respawn)

cheers
E.
Rei  [author] 22 Jan, 2013 @ 12:04pm
ah, I see!
Faithplate is to tell you: "There is a hidden area! Try the path of the ninja."
So you really want to say, that the cake is a lie? >.<
mood3rd 22 Jan, 2013 @ 11:42am
every time I tried that, the cube went off the side before hiting the lower one.
I can't do ninja, due to having problems with timing the other way.
many, many attempts.
if you extended the time the door stays open by 5 hours, I might give it a try.
but I am to slow to do it.
as I previously said: why faithplate to hidden areas.
& why hidden area on the other side ? you even have portable areas there ?
I used bouncy gel to get there, but no cake :(
Rei  [author] 22 Jan, 2013 @ 11:09am
congrats, very good!
I just personally think it's easier, to dip the cube in the upper laser and slide out the lower ones.
Not wanting to give the ninja-way a try? You aren't to count the portals - there's already a record made.
mood3rd 21 Jan, 2013 @ 1:26pm
just did it. timing got me so many times.
used angled panel / light bridge / cube with speed gel on it.
slide cube down light bridge, took out top 2 lasers.
speed gel / ran from angled panel, grabed 2nd cube off button.
ran / jumped, cube into lower laser & exited.
why faithplate to hidden areas.

did not count total portals I used in this map.
estimated ballpark area 1,258
Rei  [author] 21 Jan, 2013 @ 12:55pm
Yes, thank you. I'll do it asap.
mood3rd 21 Jan, 2013 @ 12:23pm
Reiman
if I understand ?
the exit door exploit, is because you have it start open.
& the laser catchers close it.
which takes more time during quickload.
to solve, try:
start door closed, add another laser & laser catcher.
new laser start on, new laser catcher open door.
now remove connections between original laser catchers & door.
now connect them to the new laser.
have the new laser start on.
if I got it right, it should work exactly as before, exept without the exploit.
test in editor 1st, so not to ruin your map.
Rei  [author] 12 Jan, 2013 @ 2:46pm
Ah, okay - you did it THAT way. I understand. Well, then you've done a really smart job, as I was too lazy for trying on that kind of high-laser-toss. :)
The intended ninja-path opens completely, once you walked over both dots of the question marks in the back-rooms. There is already the hint, that there are hidden doors which you'll see from behind, if you use the left faithplate before the exit. Then the only tossing is necessary for the middle laser and you don't have to jump for the highest one. Guess then why ... :P
cheers
Ebbzylon 12 Jan, 2013 @ 1:05pm
Sure, let me try to describe:

P1 - Orange portal on angle plate
Jump down, spawn cubes
P2 - blue portal on orange wall, so that speed gel comes out of P1
Go back up via P2
P3 - blue portal in cube cage, grab cube
P4 - blue portal on the wall to the left and a bit higher (I probably need a picture here) of the speed gel dropper.
Stand under the mid laser (which also happens to be where speed gel path roughly ends)
Have both cubes nearby.
Grab one, toss at the mid laser. Once succesfully cut it, grab the other cube right away, run over speed path and before goign through P1 let the cube go a slip through the door. With P4 properly positionned, this cut the highest laser. Grab the cube that I previously tossed, and which had plenty of time to fall back, cut the lowest laser by jumping while holding said cube above head.
Rush to exit.
Rei  [author] 12 Jan, 2013 @ 12:29pm
Hmm, maybe you take another way as the intended ninja one? :)
Well .. intended ninja way - hehehe
Can you please tell/show me how? I wonder, why you then need 6 for the normal way.
Ebbzylon 12 Jan, 2013 @ 11:10am
Thanks,
Just doubled check. 4 portals it is (that's if you position it perfectly, and don't miss on the first attempt)
About the exploit, I could not see how it could be prevented.
People can still play through the level after seeing the exploit (I did both ways after seeing the exploit, and then I also verified the exploit was "working")

cheers
Rei  [author] 12 Jan, 2013 @ 10:41am
Really? Just 4 Portals? I'm impressed for the ninja count, could not tell how! But less to the normal way. I was counting 5 to both ways by myself. Well, that makes us even ;)
F*** the exploit ... any idea what I could change for that?
Ebbzylon 12 Jan, 2013 @ 9:58am
Ninja: started from scratch.
Exploit: Get in room. Quick Save. Quick Load. Exit (door is opened for a while)
Rei  [author] 12 Jan, 2013 @ 9:44am
I'm GLaD you liked both ways ^^
Had a look to your map and commented.
Did you count the ninja-way-portals from scratch or after counting the normal-mode ones?
Oh dear, what exploit is there again, I don't know? ~_~
Ebbzylon 12 Jan, 2013 @ 8:19am
In this one , you'll recognize one element from this (Slippy Dippy) map.
Ebbzylon 12 Jan, 2013 @ 8:05am
Nice puzzle and variant. I liked it :-)

You succesfully got me distracted for a moment by the "back rooms" that are found behind the paint droppers. I went there trying to figure out how it was part of the solution :-P
As for the Ninja, I did not realized right away the highest laser was protected by a glass wall, so I spent some time trying to toss a cube at it :-O Nice one!

Thumb up.

As for the portals count, I got:

Regular: 6 portals
Ninja: 4 portals
Exploit: 0 portal

cheers
