You need to set up a _snds.xml file for this unit. This file is essentially like the _anim.txt file but for audio instead of visual assets (although the _anim file also handles some audio stuff as I said). Copy the example of hoplite_snds.xml.

i made a copy of the hoplite.xml, to use on my Hoplite Hero unit, i changed the name of it and the protounit, but no sound is played, and how do i change the ones on the _anim.txt?

Depends on which sound you're trying to add. Most sounds, such as creation, death, selection, acknowledge, etc. are defined in the unit's _snds.xml file which refer to soundsets in soundsets-xpack.xml which link to actual .wav files located in the 'sound' folder. Sounds for attacks, footsteps, and other actions are defined directly in the unit's _anim.txt file.

At least it used to be the case that you could only use one proto file at a time. Being that both this mod and that one have proto files, they shouldn't be compatible. But it's been a while since I've been active in AoM modding so maybe FE implemented some sort of system for running multiple data mods at once and that's why weird things like that are happening for you - I don't know.

I think there's an issue with this mod and the Age of Wrath - Lesser Gods mod. It causes my scout to die and Minotaurs to be unselectable.

I was wondering; is it okay if i incorporate your mod into my own "modpack"?
My mod is far from finished, so i won't be posting it on the workshop for quite some time,
but i thought i'd ask now, so that i know on time. ;)
I will then of course give you all the credit for it,
and supply a link to this mod, in the description of my mod. ;)

@Stavrozium - yes, the proto in this mod is only for the amphibious tags.

In order to make this mod compatible,
with my own mod, that i'm currently making,
i simply removed the proto file in this mod, and it still works perfectly fine.
I assume you only added the proto file for making the titans amphibious?
As far as i can tell, the proto file is not needed for anything else;
all the mythical magic happens in the anim files. ;)

So to anyone with compatibility issues;
simply remove the proto file in this mod;
that should usually help a lot; unless, of course,
another mod you have also changes the animations for titans..
It should also work if you add this mod to the bottom of your list of mods;
that way the proto file in this mod should be overwritten by other mods.

In any case, thanks for this awesome mod! :D

I like this mod, it makes getting a titan better as i don't have to see the same titan everytime. I was wondering if you could change the images and sounds of the customs titans you added as I think it would make the experience better. I was also wondering if you could add different Chinese titans as they all have the same titan. over it's a good mod hope you can update it soon.

@Khtugg - Of course you can get it working! It sounds like you've been doing some data-folder modding. That's where most people start out. But what you need to reproduce this mod is the next step up: anim modding. You can find a guide on this topic on my profile which will explain more than everything you need to know. Basically, the anim files link the units defined in proto to their art assets.

This mod is very simple. All it does is add civilization (major god) variations for the appearance of the titan atlantean proto unit in that unit's anim file. I recommend that you use an app to compare the anim file for titan atlantean in this mod against the vanilla EE version. The comparison plugin for Notepad++ is my usual go-to for this type of thing. I'm sure you can figure it out from there.

Greetings Callistonian, thanks for the mod. I sometimes alter files of games myself, and being inspired by your mod, I'd like to make Titan Kronos, Titan Prometheus and Titan Atlantean the 3 Atlantean titans playable. I have spend half an hour pouring over the protox files of your mod and the current 2.8 protox and -Avast!- I could not figure it out myself. What sections/names should I search for in order to alter the file to my liking?

My earlier AoM modding endeavours are just altering Polyphemus so that he got Gargarensis' voice, allowing Greek culture the training of the Atlantean healing myth unit(long before the Greeks got the healers/Hippocrates) and allowing Poseidon Greeks access to all Greek water myth units - Do you think I can get the titans modded correctly?

Poseidon Statue's attack speed is far too much, it defeats other titans with ease.

Any way to match the correct units' audio? Also, any hope for Chinese Titans - say, a giant dragon?

PS I wonder if the Athena model would be a better Titan for Zeus?

The Titans were replaced and working but they cannot walk on water unfortunately.

My titans can take a bath no problem. After sleeping for so long inside the ground they probably need it lol. This game only lacks creative humor comics drawers, I'm a sucker for those derivated things from games. 😂
