I'm guessing its because asteroids and space/mech shenanigans came later, so they weren't necessarily connected decisions.

yeah ... for a fairly new player i was amaced the Devs didnt put in diamonds in space encounters or in asteroidfields as you clearly could find crystalformations... even a smaller amount would improve the rarity of diamonds. so the mod is totaly justifyed IMO :)

It's nice having a manual reliable method like those two for players who want the "dev-intended" experience but yeah what some people want with the game is just incompatible with that sometimes.

In the case of that comment for example, I don't think the diamond cost was intended to be preventing people making pet collections, but diamonds have to be rare for other reasons (value, for example) so pet collecting is harder because of it.

If players are willing to take the risk of messing with game balance with modding into their own hands and all, then why not.

Ideally the game should have used either a different resource that's easier to obtain and doesn't have the same balance issues as using diamonds, or just let you craft a lot at once to justify the diamond cost.

i recently piced up on playing the game after i bought it in 2015... reason was due to a bug that prevented me from loading a saved main so i ice'd starbound temporarly...

yeah the only thing thoes 2 diamond-nods guarantee is alot of timeconsuming grinding... and i do agree with you, the capture ball.
i think it is a fair creation you made due to the them being a little pricy indeed.

they could put in more raw diamondnods in the asteroidbelts prehaps...space-mining is already a good source for cooper silver and gold. and you can find crystals so why not diamonds? (just an idea)
personaly i dont mind the grinding unless it is so scarse but sometimes i found out quite ofted that the same suplypod often generate same stuff ofr the funktional ones rarly malfunktions and one of the best is them terofrming diamond

The only comment on vanilla+ is someone mentioning diamonds being a nightmare to gather for a pet collection, as an example.

Still the info is good so its a good thing to share, though most people don't read comments so not sure how many will find it in the first place.

That does help if people want to play it as vanilla (base-game), but its a knowledge burden + grind requirement - some people might just want to save the time and run the mod regardless, or just might not even know about those diamonds in the first place.

If you wanted say, 20 capture pods to get a lot of creatures as pets for your ship or something, you'd be visiting 10 times. It's not that that's difficult, but doing so doesn't really add any value to the game, its just a barrier to a fun thing for those players.

or there will always be diamond x 2 every time you revisit the library pagoda just go to the far right and sink to the bottom of the ocean for the first one. and then head to the left for the second diamond nod its in a cave.

Great mod, thanks

There is already a version that does exactly that and ups the cost to 5 per pod.

yea

Maybe you could make the cost a little less cheap, and go for more metal bars in the cost.
