Not a good concept when all we do is just blindly wander around in a big map with minimal landmarks. It is like slender 8 pages but more boring and worse. :steamthumbsdown:

Trigger Teleport, gotcha. I'm basically just going to make a basic map, atm. It's a city, with tunnels at the end. The idea is that you go through the tunnels, and get to the other side. I'm hoping to make it multi-objective, and just make it a large single map campagin. Basically, try to do the whole "Open World" thing that the developer commentary talked about them wanting to do originally.

In this I used trigger_teleport volumes with a landmark set to teleport players with an offset to the destination. In Plan B I used a vscript function called by a trigger_multiple to move the players + zombies when all the players get inside the trigger.

So, I decided to try my hand at authoring a map. I'm going to build it in hammer the basic way(HL2 textures and all, lol), and try something similar with maybe some tunnels that look around the city. How did you add the teleporting option?

Unfortunately I'm not planning on anything. I did make a refined version of the looping for the infinite road in Plan B though. It tries to make it more seamless by teleporting everyone nearby as a group so anyone in sight doesn't suddenly diasappear.

So, is there plans to continue this one, or would you take a request for a similar idea on a different map? It would be a port of the map "South_Side" from GMod. The map has tunnels in the city, and they end in pitch black barriers that would be great for the looping effect.

All of the content is included with L4D2, but the L4D1 maps were added after launch and the content for them was put in a different archive, so you might need to do something extra to get it all.

Not sure how it would work with GMod. Maybe all the L4D content isn't being mounted, some of the assets added from L4D1 are in a different folder.

i did and it didn't work... oh and probably should've mentioned that i'm using this map on gmod but to be safe i verified the files in both games but it still didn't change the missing texture

Yeah, it's not that good. I improved it for the infinite road in Plan B though. There it teleports everyone nearby as well, and will try to only teleport when all the survivors are close enough to be teleported as a group (unless someone runs far ahead of the others).

Interesting concept, could be fun to explore, except for the fact it is a L4D2 map. The main huge flaw is the teleportation once you reach the edge of the map. I get it's supposed to give the illusion of an endless forest, but the way it works is: You get teleported a million miles away from your teammates, director then notices you have "strayed" from the group, director punishes you for straying away. Makes for a very frustrating game loop.

This one was really confusing with the teleports, but fun nonetheless. A breath of fresh air from linnear maps. Nothing is as scary as being alone in the woods hearing a hunter and witch.

amazing campaign, it's just that NOCLIP is a requirement. all the virgins complaining about the map are just n00bz who don't know what NOCLIP is.

however, it did crash a couple times so 👎for that.

We just finished this map over an hour and it was pretty fun. Frustrating but with patience, we found the exit. Your one and only lifeline is the first arrow. Don't leave that trail. If you want to explore, do it in groups or use voice cues to point out your location if you ever get lost.
